It is with great pleasure, I want to welcome presenters, organizing committee members, reviewers and session chairs to our conference

dealing with global nursing issues. This conference is designed to serve as an important meeting for the discussion and exchange of ideas and information to enhance understanding, appreciation, and

cooperation among diverse groups of professionals. The sessions and the abstracts deal with opportunities and challenges faced by

professionals in the new global environment. This document contains abstracts in several important subject areas

of nursing. The collection exhibits an excellent selection of quality submissions. The authors are from various educational institutions located in different parts of the world. Please note that book of abstract of this symposium are distributed globally.

About the Authors

Captain Ayhan, graduated from Turkish Air Force Academy with a BS in

Industrial engineering. He attended to Naval Postgraduate School, Ca and graduated with an MS in Business and Administration. He is following courses in Turkish Air War College (Staff College)

Captain Ayhan has been working as an HR officer in Turkish Air Force. He has

worked in different posts including highest HQ of Air Force.

Mr. Imaku came from Hamburg, West Germany after six years of studying as

Industrial Management, at Hamburg University and later moved to the USA in 1983. Mr. Imaku earned Master of Business Administration, Emphasis in Technology

Management and Bachelor of Science in Business Management both from University of Phoenix Ontario CA, Associate of Science Degree, in Aviation Management from Cypress College. Mr. Imaku is Ph.D. Candidate, (ABD), in Management, emphasis in

Information Systems Management from Walden University, with an expected completion 2013.

Mr. Imaku has worked for several large organizations such as Boeing

Commercial Aircraft Divisions, GGS Information Systems, Thales Inflight Entertainment Systems and Northrop Grumman Corporation as a Program Manager,

Product Support Supervisor and Principal Technical Writer/Editor, in all Components on MD-11, Boeing 717, 727, 737, 747, C-17 Global as well as B2-A. Mr. Imaku is a licensed Pilot and currently self-employ as a Technical Publications Consultant for an

Aerospace Company here in Anaheim. He has over twenty years’ experience in Technical Publications, Program Management, Customer Product Support, Project

Management/Operations Management and higher education management in distance learning. Today, Mr. Imaku wears multiple hats, as an adjunct professor – online and Global Conferences Ambassador at University of Riverside.

Savio Pham, DM(c) is a doctoral candidate for the Doctor of Management in

Organizational Leadership with the University of Phoenix. He earned a Master’s in Business Administration and a double-major Bachelor’s in Management and Information Technology with Ottawa University. He has taught in Computer Science

and Computer Information Technology at Johnson County Community College for over 10 years. He is currently an adjunct faculty at Highline College in Washington and

will also begin teaching in the MBA program at Ottawa University in the summer. Savio Pham worked over 16 years in the Information Technology and held key

positions including Chief Technology Officer when he built an entire technology department from the ground up. He has recently worked as an independent

consultant providing management and leadership strategies for organizations. He helped organizations during mergers and acquisitions, multicultural integration, and team building.

Savio Pham has served as a volunteer leader of youth programs for over 20 years

at various Catholic churches. He is also a fourth-degree knight in the Knight of

Columbus. Savio was an examiner for the Washington State Quality Award program and was a trained examiner with the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, a

national performance excellent award hosted by the National Institution of Standard and Technology.

Captain Şık, graduated from Turkish Air Force Academy with a BS in Industrial

engineering. He attended to Osmangazi University in Eskisehir, Turkey and graduated with an MS in Industrial Engineering. He is following courses in Turkish Air War

College (Staff College) Captain Şık has been working as an HR officer in Turkish Air Force. He has

Dr. Rukmini Srikant Revuru obtained his Ph.D from Andhra University in India on

cutting fluids in the year 2008. He worked for about 10 years at GITAM University in India and joined the Dept. of Technology, University of Northern Iowa in 2014 as a faculty member.

Dr. Srikant is working on cutting fluids and sustainable lubrication in machining. He has about 51 publications, out of which 30 papers are published in referred

journals. A chapter authored by Dr. Srikant is published in an edited book by CRC press, USA. He carried out 4 research projects in machining and nanotechnology.

THE REALITY OF ORGANIZATIONAL DISCIPLINE CULTURE: MANAGEMENT

RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEADERSHIP IN CASE OF INDISCIPLINE

Abstract

Even though discipline is known as a military issue, it is also valueable and foundational concept for

all kinds of civilian sectors. Experiences reveal that any measures taken on this issue are inadequate and it

seems impossible to avoid indiscipline completely in practice. Organizations and manpower are faced

with losses hard to compensate because of indiscipline. As the highest value and the keystone of

organizations, qualified manpower is innately subject to making mistakes. Since discipline problems can

not be solved easily, organizations have to display great effort and spend plenty of time and resources to

deal with this issue. At this point the smartest choice for the management is likely to accept the reality of

organizational discipline culture, to lead maintaining it and it’s contuinity. As sub-culture of

organizational culture, discipline culture has a key role for the health, stability and consistency

organizations, furthermore it will show the quality of working environment.

In this study the discipline culture, rarely discussed issue in the literature, is examined from both the

military and civilian perspectives. The role of management to maintain discipline culture and providing

contuinity, additionally leadership requirements in terms of indiscipline problems are evaluated.

THE DYNAMICS OF VIRTUAL TEAMS: A QUALITATIVE SOCIAL NETWORK APPROACH

Abstract

This study explores the motivations and expectations of virtual team adoption. The Echo method, a

qualitative social network method, was applied to analyze the data gathered from 48 interviews. The data

reveals that the most prominent motivator is the efficiency that a virtual team brings to an organization.

Ease of communication and flexibility are also among the major benefits and thus could motivate

organizations. In contrast, communication is the largest barrier, particularly in terms of accents.

Unreliability represents an area for improvement in the infrastructure. Social norms developed around the

virtual team environment have a negative impact as team members admit that engaging in a virtual team

creates a means to “do more with less” and be involved in more than one project simultaneously. Finally,

social norms negatively affect cooperation among team members.

LEADERSHIP SELF-DEVELOPMENT: MAKING A REAL DIFFERENCE

Abstract

Self-Direction Leadership Development: Leadership has been discussed at great length by many

scholars. However, leadership development is by far lack of focus by experts in the leadership field.

Many formal leadership training programs only provide information about leadership, but they rarely

walk individuals through leadership formation. Leadership self-development has been considered as a

personal approach in which one neither receives noticeable support from the organization nor has a clear

focus on what to develop himself or herself. The author argues that a systematic approach in leadership

self-development is possible and that one should (if not must) develop leadership capabilities before he or

she takes on a forma leadership role in an organization

ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF MINIMUM QUANTITY LUBRICATION WITH NANOFLUIDS IN

MACHINING

Abstract

Cutting fluids are popularly used in the shop floors to lubricate and cool the machining zone. But issues

like health hazards, maintenance and disposal costs have limited their usage and prompted research

towards Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL). From recent research, nanofluids are looked upon as

potential coolants in MQL. However, the high cost of the nano particles is a discouraging factor in their

application. In the present work, nanographite based cutting fluids of varying concentrations were

prepared and applied in machining. Performance in machining was evaluated by measuring cutting

temperatures, tool wear, cutting forces and surface roughness and compared with dry machining. It was

seen that application of nano cutting fluids produced better results compared to dry machining indicating

better tool life, higher material removal rates and productivity. A detailed economic analysis was carried

out considering various costs associated in both the cases to decide the applicability of the techniques.
