Absolute LoJack Fights Phone Theft in FOX Business Interview Absolute Software CEO John Livingston was recently on FOX Business talking about Absolute LoJack's integration into Samsung devices as part of its attempt to "fight against phone theft." As was recently revealed by the New York Times, cellphone carriers are rejecting the idea of the "kill switch" suggesting that "the carriers are concerned that the software would eat into the profit they make from the insurance programs many consumers buy to cover lost or stolen phones."

When asked why the telcos have not accepted technology that could reduce mobile theft, John noted:

"This is a huge problem across country and it's up to the telcos to step up now and accept the Samsung/Absolute solution that provides the safety and security for consumers and our ability to turn off, kill it if it's lost or stolen, or even recover it. Why would they say no? There's just not a good reason to say no. One could speculate: they sell billions of dollars in handset insurance. One can speculate."

The interview addresses some of the other issues the telcos are hiding behind in their reluctance to move forward in stopping theft, as well as highlighting the importance of our persistence technology in stopping thieves from erasing our technology during a factory reset.
