Main Objective
What we do
The Athletic Club Foundation carries out part of its work in thesocial field. Our initial idea is that football can and should be a toolfor inclusion in today's societies, not a reason for confrontationunder any circumstance.
Social Activities
What we do
Therefore, the Foundation carries out activities aimed at thepromoting the values linked to playing sport in general andfootball and Athletic Club in particular, focusing its work onhelping people at risk of social exclusion. The social activities thatthe Athletic Club Foundation launches share a single goal: to makeour society a better place.
Social Activities
What we do / Social Activities
Social activities meet these conditions:
They are aimed at improvingthe lives of a groupat risk of exclusion.
They are implemented in collaboration with a third party agent in the social field(NGO, Administration, Association...) with experience in working specifically withthis groupat risk of exclusion
We do not accept third party sponsorship. The Foundation will cover all expensesarising from the project.
What we do / Social Activities

Ahalegina Project
The Ahalegina Project (Ahalegina = Being able to do something), is aimed atchildren with intellectual disabilities in Biscay. It is a series of free weeklypsychomotor skills training sessions, developed by sports professionals fromAthletic Club. The aims are:
- To improve the psychomotor skills of children.- To acquire day to day skills (doing their own bag alone, showering alone...).- Help in the process of acquiring autonomy (parents out!)
The pedagogical advantage provided by the Athletic Club brand is key to theproject. Children will train with Athletic Club, not in psychomotor skillsworkshops! This means that there are practically no absentees. Children want togo and are willing to work for it.
They receive interim rewards depending on their behaviour, such as visits fromplayers. But they always have to have earned it through their efforts. At the endof the year, they are given a diploma certifying their (hard) work.

Thinking Football Film Festival
The Thinking Football Film Festival is a film festival organised by the Foundation with the collaboration of Sala BBK. Between twelve and sixteen films are screened annually over six days of the festival. A common theme of the films is that they involve social stories, stories of overcoming or political stories, through football. We do not screen hagiographies of footballers. It is the social character of football that interests us.
Over the years, films have been screened from countries such as Nepal, Germany, USA, Argentina, Chile, Belgium, France, Sweden.... Every year there is an Audience Award, which comes from the votes of attendees. Admission is free of charge and at all of the major screenings, directors of and actors in the films are invited. Starting this year, there is also an award to a local production in Basque.
