The Prayon process for the manufacture of pure phosphoric acid provides beLife with a competitive advantage in the application of phosphate chemistry.

beLife’s lithium iron phosphate was initially devel-oped by the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission (CEA). In 2008, a technology transfer agreement was signed with Prayon allowing the Belgian company to fully exploit CEA’s patented technology.

In May 2012, Prayon obtained a worldwide license for its product from LiFePO

4+C Licensing AG.

LiFePO4+C Licensing (an affiliate of Clariant AG)

represents patent owners Hydro-Québec (Canada), Université de Montréal (Canada) and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (France). The LFP patent rights associated with the license

include worldwide protection for LFP technology, patents on the invention of basic LFP materials, carbon-coating patents usable with LFP materials and carbon coating process patents.

Prayon is the sixth company to reach such an agree-ment with LiFePO

4+C, which grants a limited number

of sublicenses to suitable LFP/LMP producers capa-ble to address the market demand with high quality products. Today beLife benefits from this licence.
