IS CANDIDA/YEAST OVERGROWTH HARMING YOUR HEALTH?
What is Candida/Yeast Overgrowth?
Our general overall health and well being relies on the harmonic balance of a
variety of organisms found in the digestive tract. It is estimated that we host
anywhere from 2 to 4 pounds of beneficial microorganisms in our intestinal tract,
most of which are friendly bacteria and fungi. Yeast is a part of the fungi class. In
fact, most yeast strains are beneficial to the body. Only when our body (our
biological terrain) becomes unbalanced does a small group of organisms, mostly
in the Candida genus, cause problems. Yeast overgrowth can produce a myriad of
symptoms, everything from the most obvious, such as vaginal yeast infections and
toenail fungus, to those that might not seem linked to Candida/Yeast at first
glance, such as chronic sinus infections, food allergies, muscle aches, painful
joints, digestive disturbances, sugar cravings and weight gain. All of these
conditions can be a result of Candida/Yeast overgrowth. Keep in mind that we
don’t want to get rid of all of the Candida/Yeast because it is a natural part of our
digestive system. Bringing the body back into balance, however, is always the key
to restoring health.

Symptoms of Candida/Yeast Overgrowth
Candida/Yeast overgrowth sneaks up on you over time. It is not something
you just wake up with some morning. You might come down with a sinus
infection or a vaginal yeast infection or even jock itch. The doctor may give you
some sort of antifungal agent to take care of the symptoms and you feel OK again.
But did you get at the root cause of the problem? Most likely you have just
covered up the problem and Candida/Yeast is waging a war inside your body. This
leads to what we refer to as systemic infection, where the fungus invades the
bloodstream, tissues and organs. Here are some conditions that can indicate
systemic Candida/Yeast overgrowth:
Chronic fatigue Migraines
Food allergies Yeast infections
Asthma Fibromyalgia
Gas and bloating PMS
Weight gain Depression
Cancer Irritable bowel
9
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 9
Overgrowth Leads To Disease
As Candida/Yeast grows out of control, they can burrow into your intestinal
wall, creating tiny holes in the membrane lining. This is called “leaky gut”
because these tiny holes allow for the Candida/Yeast and their toxic byproducts
along with undigested food particles to “leak out” into the blood stream where
they are carried throughout your entire body. This causes an allergic reaction,
which leads to bloating, fluid retention, food cravings, liver overload, thyroid
dysfunction, hormonal imbalance and more stress. Wow, could this actually lead
to Autoimmune Diseases? You betcha! We believe yeast overgrowth is a major
player in all Autoimmune Diseases (MS, fibromyalgia, lupus, etc.) A good sign
that you may have a serious yeast problem is feeling exceptionally tired all the
time and/or anxious. If you have serious cravings for sugar and carbohydrates;
that is the yeast saying “Feed Me!”
10
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 10
Candida/Yeast and the Link to Cancer
Dr. T. Simoncini, an oncologist from Rome, has been working with cancer and
Candida/Yeast for many years. He believes that at the root of cancerous tumors
lie Candida colonies. In his book “Cancer is a Fungus”, he describes how he has
found that injecting tumors directly with sodium bicarbonate actually kills the
tumor from the inside out. Yeast cannot survive in the presence of highly alkaline
sodium bicarbonate. Dr. Simoncini has been using this unique treatment of
cancer for over 20 years with great results, even on those patients who had
exhausted all conventional treatments and were literally “given up on”. Candida
overgrowth can be the root cause of a number of symptoms and conditions.
However, at its worst, it can invade deep into organs, weakening the immune
system and causing the spread of cancerous growths. It is common sense, then,
to say that keeping Candida in balance is a great cancer prevention. By
the way, did you know that both Candida/Yeast and cancer love to live in
overly acidic conditions? We will talk more about pH later.

*While the symptoms in this section occur commonly in patients with yeast-connected illness, they also occur commonly in patients who do not have Candida.
Total Score, Section C _______
Total Score, Section B _______
Total Score, Section A _______
Grand Total Score (add totals from Sections A, B and C) _______
The Grand Total Score will help you and your healthcare practitioner decide if your health problems are yeast-connected. Scores for women will run higher, as 7 items in this questionnaire apply exclusively to women, while only 2 apply exclusively to men.
Yeast-connected health problems are almost certainly present in women with scores over 180, and in men with scores over 140.
Yeast-connected health problems are probably present in women with scores over 120, and in men with scores over 90.
Yeast-connected health problems are possibly present in women with scores over 60, and in men with scores over 40.
With scores less than 60 for women and 40 for men, yeast is less apt to cause health problems.

Spit Test
First thing in the morning before eating , drinking
or brushing your teeth, work up some saliva and
deposit it into a clear glass of water. After about 15
to 30 minutes, look through the side of the glass; if
there are strings coming down from your saliva, or if
the water turned cloudy, or if your saliva sank to the
bottom… You May Have a Yeast or Fungal Concern.
If there are no strings and your saliva is still on top of the water after 1 hour, you
most likely do not have Candida/Yeast overgrowth.
IonCleanse® Foot Bath
IonCleanse® foot baths can be very helpful to get an idea of what is going on
in the body. This is a treatment where your bare feet are put into a water bath
with a metal devise called an array which ionizes the water. These free-floating
ions enter through the pores of the feet and latch onto oppositely charged toxins
and acid wastes in the body. Through a process called osmosis, the neutralized
19
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 19
toxins and waste material are literally pulled back out the pores of the feet into
the foot bath water. After a 30-minute treatment, the water will have different
colored particulates and turn quite dark. The colors refer to different parts of the
body being detoxified.
Candida/Yeast will show up within the first 15 minutes of the treatment as
white cheesy material floating on top of the water. If you have Candida/Yeast
overgrowth, you will have this in your water, and the more that forms, the more
serious the overgrowth. Check for the presence of “black flecks” (heavy metals)
as well. Everyone has some of these in their water, and some will even form from
the ionizing plates, but if your water is littered with black flecks it is a sign that
you could use a heavy metal cleanse. In some cases, a heavy metal detox
supplement may be a necessary addition to your Candida Cleanse protocol.

THE KEY TO FANTASTIC HEALTH IS TO STAY BALANCED So what does staying balanced really mean? The body works perfectly
when it is in a state of dynamic self-regulation called Homeostasis. This is
the human body regulating and maintaining the optimum internal
environment for cellular life under all circumstances. In other words, if you
are exposed to a virus, it will not get a toehold if you are in a state of
Homeostasis. If you are out of balance, with stressed-out organs, the virus
has a good chance to take up residence, because the internal environment
(your biological terrain) is making a nice party place for it. Being a great host
is not always in your best interest.
What Tips the Scales in Favor of
Candida/Yeast Overgrowth?
You may ask, well how does this Candida/Yeast end up growing out of control?
The answer lies in anything that upsets the balance and harmony of our biological
terrain.
21
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 21
Antibiotics are the biggest culprits when it comes to disrupting our digestive
system. Broad-spectrum antibiotics are not selective in their destruction of
organisms. Many of the “good” bacteria that keep the yeast in check are also
destroyed by antibiotics. It is kind of like throwing the baby out with the bath
water. In order to get rid of the bad microorganisms, the population of good
microorganisms becomes collateral damage.
Unfortunately, the average American has had more than their share of
antibiotics, often within the first 5 years of life. On top of that, much of our food,
especially chicken, turkey, dairy and beef, expose us to even more, as antibiotics
are a common if not standard part of the animals’ diet. It is estimated that over
25 million pounds of antibiotics are fed to livestock each year. If they consume it,
we consume it.
A number of other drugs can also disrupt the natural balance in the digestive
system. Some of these offenders are steroids, HRT (hormone replacement
therapy), birth control pills and antacids. Most drugs compromise our immune
system, which can lead to an overgrowth of Candida/Yeast. Antacids in particular
neutralize the natural acid in the stomach which nature provided to keep
22
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 22
Candida/Yeast and unwanted parasites in check. We are not fans of antacids, as
they compromise the immune system more than most folks realize.
Besides drugs, stress and diet can create ideal conditions for Candid/Yeast
overgrowth.
Stress contributes by lowering immune function and creating an acidic
environment that is perfect for growing Candida/Yeast. Minimizing stress
through exercise, meditation, mini-vacations and a positive attitude will do
wonders for your immune system and overall health while fostering an
environment that is unfriendly to unwanted organisms.
Another interesting note is that Candida/Yeast has a connection to heavy
metals and parasites. It seems that yeast is attracted to heavy metals and can be
difficult to get control of if the body is toxic. Some parasites like to feed on yeast,
so with a depressed immune system and yeast overgrowth, it makes for the
perfect environment to host a variety of parasites. In some cases it may be
23
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 23
necessary to do a heavy metal detox or parasite cleanse along with a program to
balance the yeast.
Diet is often what actually “feeds” the yeast problem. Candida/Yeast thrives
on sugar; that means anything we eat that turns to sugar is feeding them,
including sweets, refined carbohydrates, alcohol and even caffeine.
Candida/Yeast secretes a chemical that causes sugar cravings. This ensures that
the average host will continue to supply them with the fuel they need to multiply
and continue the cycle of craving sugar, eating sugar and Candida/Yeast
overgrowth.
Are You Actually Manifesting Candida/Yeast Overgrowth?
Did you know that your feelings, emotions and beliefs can either help you get
well or keep you from healing? We are not just a body, separate from our mind
and emotions. Beliefs that formed as a result of our experiences and upbringing
have a great influence on our health and success in life. Each of us creates the
circumstances of our lives. We manifest illness or health, success or failure, as a
result of our thoughts, our emotions and our belief system. Feelings of being
24
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 24
used or being sucked dry by others who drain you of energy also can set the stage
for Candida/Yeast overgrowth. Those who feel they must be a good host can
sometimes have underlying beliefs that do not allow them to “kick out” the yeast.
Feelings of resentment, either toward others or yourself also can create an
environment for them to thrive. It is amazing how the mind/body works, and you
really must be aware of each aspect. We will touch more on this later.
5 IMPORTANT STEPS TO CONQUER CANDIDA/YEAST
AND REGAIN BALANCE
1. Kill the Candida/Yeast Overgrowth (Antifungal Products)
2. Repopulate the Gut with Good Bacteria
3. Repair the Damage to the Gut
4. Change Your Biological Terrain
5. Don’t Invite Them Back
25
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 25
1. Kill the Candida/Yeast Overgrowth
There are a number of great products that either kill
yeast or make a very unfriendly environment for it to
grow in. It is wise to remain on some sort of antifungal
herb for 30 to 90 days. There are some “heavy duty”
packaged cleanses that run for 2 weeks, but realistically this is not enough
time to rebalance the system.
Pau D’ Arco comes from the bark of a tree known as Taheebo and is one of
the best available herbs to fight Candida/Yeast. It grows primarily in the rain
forests of South America and is known to be immune to any fungal growth.
Traditionally it has been used to strengthen and support the circulatory and
immune systems and also has been used as an anti-cancer remedy. Pau D’
Arco tones the intestinal tract and acts as a blood purifier. We recommend
about a quart of the tea a day to fight Candida infections. You may also take it
in capsule form. Follow the recommended dosage on the label.
Garlic is a natural antibiotic and has been shown to be more effective than
many antifungal medications. It will expel and kill hookworms, pinworms,
26
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 26
roundworms and tapeworms. Garlic stimulates the immune system, has anti-
tumor properties and is often used for circulatory and respiratory ailments.
Take as a supplement and add more fresh garlic to your diet.
Olive Leaf Extract has been used for medicinal purposes for hundreds of
years. It has been shown to be an effective remedy for nearly every
pathogenic organism and is particularly effective against Candida/Yeast
overgrowth. Olive leaf extract is antiviral and quite effective at killing a wide
range of parasitic worms. It is anti-inflammatory and inhibits the oxidation of
LDL cholesterol.
Wild Oregano Oil is a potent antimicrobial essential oil. Used well diluted
on the soles of the feet, oregano oil is very effective against bacterial and
fungal infections. This oil can be irritating to the skin, so dilute well. It is
readily absorbed through the large pores of the feet and enters the
bloodstream almost immediately. Do this right before bed when you feel like
you are coming down with something. It usually nips it in the bud very quickly.
Wild oregano oil is not for long-term use as it can be hard on the liver. Use it
as a short term (1 – 2 weeks) addition to your Candida/Yeast program.
27
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 27
Caprylic Acid Combination contains caprylic acid, a natural fatty acid
known to be antifungal and immune boosting. It is quickly absorbed in the
intestines and helps maintain the delicate balance of microflora. Elecampane
and black walnut are also part of this combination, adding a significant anti-
parasitical effect. A side benefit of Elecampane is its inulin content, which
soothes and helps repair the lining of the digestive tract.
Yeast Fungal Detox is a blend of antifungal herbs (Pau D’ Arco, Garlic and
Oregano). It also contains the antifungal compounds caprylic acid, sodium
propionate and sorbic acid, which reduce yeast overgrowth. Echinacea,
selenium and zinc are added as immune stimulators. This is a powerful
antifungal herbal combination that has been used with much success.
2. Repopulate the Gut with Good Bacteria
Repopulating the gut with friendly bacteria is extremely important as you
are killing the yeast. As one population of microorganisms declines, others will
multiply to “fill the space”. We want more of the beneficial bacteria to fill that
space to rebalance the population to a degree where the “good guys” keep the
“bad guys” in check. These good bacteria have specific functions in the body
and are referred to as probiotics. It is recommended to rotate your probiotics
28
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 28
to make sure as many friendly bacteria as possible are given a chance to
multiply and restore harmonic balance.
Acidophilus Bacteria flourish in the small
intestine, where they assist in enzyme production.
This enhances nutrient absorption. These bacteria
produce a natural antibiotic in the gut and the
enzyme lactase, which assists in the breakdown of milk products. It produces
an array of B-Vitamins, and Vitamin K which has been previously overlooked
for its major contributions to proper blood clotting and bone health.
Bifidophilus Flora Force contains both Acidophilus bacteria and Bifido-
bacteria which are most prominent in the large intestine. The Bifido-bacteria
secrete substances that inhibit the growth of toxic bacteria. Caprylic acid is
one of these. Bifido-bacteria are extremely important for babies, as they help
develop a child’s natural defenses.
Probiotic Eleven is a heavy-duty probiotic, containing 11 different strains of
friendly bacteria. This not only helps to reestablish a variety of species in the
gut, but also provides the competition to keep the “bad” bugs in check. This is
29
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 29
our number one recommendation to use during your Candida/Yeast program
and has been the most potent remedy to restore intestinal balance.
3. Repair the Damage to the Gut
Damage to cells and the lining of the intestinal tract are often a result of
Candida/Yeast overgrowth. As they burrow into the
membrane lining, they create tiny holes causing the
intestinal walls to become excessively porous. This allows
toxins and undigested food particles to literally “leak” out
into the bloodstream. Leaky gut syndrome has been linked
to a variety of health issues, including ADD/ADHD,
depression, allergies, asthma, skin disease and autoimmune problems.
Soothing, protecting and restoring cell health will ensure a healthy and
balanced biological terrain that will stand strong against reinfection. There
are several herbs that help improve the health of the intestines and repair the
damage.
30
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 30
Una de Gato (cat’s claw) is both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. It
helps to reduce intestinal permeability and heal leaky gut. This is also a great
immune builder.
Kudzu/St. John’s Wort also reduces gut permeability, healing leaky gut
while toning intestinal membranes. The St. John’s Wort is helpful, since poor
digestion can often cause brain fogginess, anxiety and depression.
Intestinal Soothe and Build contains mucilagenic herbs (slippery elm and
marshmallow) that soothe irritated tissue and help repair damaged cells.
Other herbs that assist digestion also have been added. This formula assists in
detoxifying the bowel and balancing intestinal flora.
L-Glutamine is an amino acid that plays a key role in cellular growth and
repair. It is especially important for the function of the brain, muscles and
immune and digestive systems. L-Glutamine has been used to speed the
healing of “leaky gut”.
31
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 31
4. Change Your Biological Terrain
Permanently changing your internal environment (your
biological terrain) to be unfriendly to unwanted organisms
is essential to staying balanced and not relapsing into a
condition of Candida/Yeast overgrowth. There are several steps you can take
not only to avoid stressors that throw your system out of balance, but also to
enhance and strengthen your biological terrain to resist disease and unwanted
visitors. Here are a few that will bring you closer to a state of Homeostasis.
We guarantee you will improve your overall health and well being if you follow
these suggestions.
Avoid Drugs
Drugs can be a major contributor to overgrowth of Candida/Yeast.
Strengthening the body’s immune defenses with key supplements such as a
good multi-vitamin mineral supplement, antioxidants and Omega-3 essential
fatty acids, along with eating healthy organic whole foods, can go a long way
to reduce the occurrence of infection and the need for antibiotics. Silver
32
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 32
Shield (a natural silver antibiotic) can be used in case of infection instead of
antibiotics, which are some of the worst drugs for causing yeast overgrowth.
Throw away your antacids and buy some enzymes to take with your
meals. Enzymes help break down food, addressing the root cause of
heartburn without upsetting the natural balance of microflora.
Steroids are often used for inflammation and autoimmune diseases. Eating
right and taking natural anti-inflammatory supplements such as Thai-Go (an
antioxidant fruit drink) or Una de Gato, Yucca, Noni or Everflex can help ease you
away from the need to take steroids.
Think twice before using hormone replacement therapy and birth control
pills. There are non-drug alternatives to birth control, and many natural herbs
that can help with menopause or hormone imbalance. Our favorites include Pro-
G-Yam 500 (a natural plant based progesterone cream), which helps balance
hormones with the added benefit of building bone and protecting against
osteoporosis, Black Cohosh and the herbal combinations Female Comfort, Flash
Ease and Cramp Relief. Replacing drugs with natural supplements and herbs will
keep your body in balance without the side effects and digestive upset. (Oh,
33

don’t worry about how to get a hold of the supplements mentioned in this book,
a summary will be provided at the end with information about how to order).
Manage Stress
Stress affects us in more ways than we realize, suppressing the immune
system and setting up ideal conditions for Candida/Yeast overgrowth. Add some
extra B-Complex and Vitamin C to your daily intake, as stress burns these up
faster than we can take them in through our food.
Take some time to relax. Get away from your work and family stress for at
least a few minutes every day. A quick meditation of deep breathing and
grounding yourself can make a big difference in how you deal with the rest of the
day. Take a walk or exercise every day to release tension and improve
circulation. Hot baths with 1 cup of Epsom salts and your favorite essential oils
can be akin to a mini-vacation. We like lavender and chamomile for their soothing
and relaxing properties.
Think about what you would love to do, and make it happen. Years can go by
before we realize we could have made more time for fun, or gone on that
34

vacation. Hindsight is always 20/20. Stop now and give thanks for all that you
have. Gratefulness is a big stress and fear buster. Find the joy in life, and if you
can’t quite get there, talk to a counselor or try some ThetaHealing™.
ThetaHealing™ connects you to the creator and allows you to experience the true
joy in everything. It can literally remove negative energies and non-supporting
beliefs stuck at the DNA level that you may not even be aware of. ThetaHealing™
replaces these negative energies with more positive and supportive beliefs that
help you move forward to enjoy all of the many blessings that are available to
you.
Improve Digestion
Improving digestion and intestinal health addresses one of the root causes of
Candida/Yeast overgrowth. Yeast and toxic bacteria feed on undigested food,
causing a population explosion. Undigested food creates toxins in the body, and
proteins putrefy, causing foul-smelling stools. Carbohydrates will ferment, causing
gas and bloating, and fats become rancid, resulting in free-radical damage. This
alone puts a lot of stress on the body, which weakens the immune system. Add in
all the toxins that the yeast and bad bacteria release, and you are literally living in
35
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 35
a toxic dump of rotting food. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of
taking a full-spectrum enzyme supplement to ease the toxic load on the body.
As we reach the age of 35, our natural enzyme and hydrochloric acid
production starts to decrease, slowly leading us down the road to poor digestion
and eventually to a compromised immune system. Unless you are eating 80% of
your diet as raw food, which contains its own enzymes for breakdown, you need
to supplement your body with extra enzymes. Most older people also need a
supplement that contains Betaine HCL, which helps the body produce the
hydrochloric acid (HCL) that is essential for the breakdown of proteins and
calcium.
One of the biggest misconceptions in the medical community is that acid
indigestion is caused by the body making too much HCL in the stomach. Almost
always, and we mean Almost Always, it is a lack of HCL being produced that leads
to undigested foods fermenting and causing carbonic acid that bubbles up into
the esophagus, causing a burning sensation. Taking antacids actually makes the
situation worse and continues the cycle of poor digestion, discomfort and
imbalance. And by the way, if you think you are getting your calcium from Tums
or a calcium carbonate supplement, you have been deceived. Calcium requires
36
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 36
an acidic environment for the body to break it down and utilize it. Calcium
carbonate is alkaline, which not only reduces the acid environment in the
stomach but is also the worst form of calcium for the body to absorb.
Enzymes taken with meals are extremely important to assist in the proper
breakdown of food. As we age, our natural ability to make enzymes slows down,
resulting in digestive discomfort: pain, bloating and gas. Serious enzyme and
stomach acid deficiency can lead to chronic indigestion, GERD, hiatal hernias and
esophageal cancer. Broad-spectrum enzyme supplements are vital to proper
digestion of a variety of foods.
Proactazyme Plus is a complete enzyme supplement designed for vegetarians
or those who do not eat a lot of meat. This supplement contains only plant
source enzymes to help break down sugars, vegetable fibers, long-chain starches
and proteins. It supplies amylase, glucoamylase, lipase, cellulase, invertase, malt
diastase, alpha galactosidase, peptidase and a blend of protease to digest
proteins.
Food Enzymes is a product designed to supply a full range of enzymes along
with Betaine HCL for those who are not producing enough stomach acid for
proper digestion. It contains bromelain, lipase, alpha-amylase, pancreatin, papain
37
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 37
and pepsin. This product is a favorite for people suffering from acid indigestion
who are not vegetarians.
Protease Plus provides enzymes that break down proteins into smaller
proteins and amino acids. Taken between meals, protease helps digest the toxins
and food particles that have leaked out of the intestines into the bloodstream.
This formula supports the immune system by cleaning up those particles that
cause inflammation and free-radical damage.
Balance Your pH
So what does pH have to do with it? The pH scale is a measure of how acidic
or alkaline a solution is. A pH of 7.0 is considered neutral, neither acid nor
alkaline. Anything less than 7.0 is acidic. Anything over 7.0 is alkaline. Our bodies
run their best within a slightly alkaline pH. The blood actually requires a very
small range of pH and cannot fluctuate too much before the body goes into crisis
and we die. This causes the body to do whatever it has to do to keep the proper
pH of the blood steady, including robbing mineral stores from organs and bones
to alkalize an acidic pH. Many vital bodily functions, including digestion, enzyme
activity and hormone balance, are dependent upon the body to maintain
38
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 38
optimum pH. If the body is balanced, saliva will be anywhere between a pH of
6.5 and 6.8; urine will fluctuate between 6.0 and 7.0. If you fall out of this pH
test range, you are at risk for hormone imbalance, heart disease, weight gain,
bladder and kidney issues, immune deficiency, brittle bones, arthritis, low energy,
liver distress, impaired digestion and elimination and YES – CANDIDA/YEAST
OVERGROWTH. These organisms love an acidic environment and contribute to
their own proliferation by leaving more acid wastes behind as they die.
The untold truth is that most of us are way too Acidic. This is due to our SAD
(Standard American Diet), which consists of masses of acid-forming foods,
including all meat, most grains, some fruits and pretty much all fast foods and
packaged foods. Maintaining a perfect pH is almost impossible given our current
lifestyle. Dehydration, stress, chemicals and lack of exercise or too much exercise
contribute to over acidity in the body. We find ourselves in a chronic loop of
stress, over acidity, immune dysfunction and Candida/Yeast overgrowth.
So how do you balance your pH? Diet can make or break you. Ideally, you
should be eating 80% alkaline foods such as vegetables, leafy greens, almonds,
pumpkin, sesame and poppy seeds, goat whey and most fruits except for
cranberries, guava, plums, pomegranates and tomatoes. Only about 20 percent
39
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 39
of our diet should be acid forming foods: meats, grains and dairy. If that sounds
too difficult, you can buy an alkaline water ionizer and drink several glasses a day
of alkaline water to help balance your pH. After 3 months of using this water, we
have seen blood sugar levels decrease, aches and pains ease and sugar cravings
go away. We are about 70% water, so the quality of water you put into your body
is extremely important. Most water is on the acidic side, which doesn’t help us
balance our pH. Alkaline water is purified and full of minerals which also help to
buffer over-acidity. Investing in a good Alkaline water system will do more for
your overall health than struggling to balance pH with diet alone. The important
point here is to do whatever it takes to get your pH balanced. Purchase a roll of
pH tape at your local health food store and take your urine pH every morning as
soon as you get out of bed, before you drink anything or take any medication.
Watch and see if it moves into the ideal range of 6.5 – 7.0. If dietary changes
don’t do it, get an alkaline water system. Another thing you might try is to
eliminate completely all wheat and dairy for a couple of weeks. Many people are
so sensitive to these foods that they cause an imbalance in pH that cannot be fully
addressed unless the food is completely eliminated.

Detoxify
We live in a modern society today that has come to be filled with a heavy load
of toxins. We find these toxins in our food, our water, in the air we breathe and
also in our personal care products, etc. Normal, healthy individuals need to
cleanse twice a year just to keep up with the increased exposure to these
chemicals and poisons. It is good to do a colon cleanse along with some herbs
that support the detoxification of the liver, kidney and lymphatic system.
When it comes to Candida/Yeast issues, you may have to do a heavy metal
cleanse. This could be adding a product called Heavy Metal Detox which was
formulated with cilantro, sodium alginate, N-acetyl -cysteine, kelp and alpha lipoic
acid to your daily regime for 30 days or more. Oral chelation products will also
help to pull out a variety of heavy metals, as well as plaque from the arteries. The
advantage of doing oral chelation is that it really helps increase circulation. Many
people with heart disease choose this type of cleanse, but be prepared, because
this type of program can be 4 – 6 months long. Mega-Chel is an excellent oral
chelation product.
Checking for parasites will also be important when trying to balance Candida.
Knocking down the parasite population right away can ensure quicker results with
41
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 41
the Candida diet and protocol. In general, it is good to first do a colon cleanse to
clear out material from the colon that might be feeding parasites and then do the
Candida Cleanse along with parasite herbs. Parasite herbs can also take 30 – 90
days to make an impact on the population. This is because of the life cycle of the
organisms. Most herbs are effective against the adults, not the eggs which are
protected by a hard coating. Eggs can lie dormant for months or years just
waiting for the right environment to hatch out. The best way to check for
parasites is to visit a practitioner who can test you for parasites. If you test for
parasites, you most likely have an infection. Having an IonCleanse® foot bath
done can also help determine whether heavy metals, Candida/Yeast or parasites
are present. Note: You still may have a parasite problem even if you don’t see
any in the water (it is rare to see them, but possible). There will be more
information on the IonCleanse® coming up.
Stop Feeding the Candida/Yeast (Diet)
Honestly, you cannot affect the Candida/Yeast population until you stop
feeding them. They love sugar and refined carbohydrates, so these must be
avoided in all their forms. Diet is your main weapon against Candida, but also the
42
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 42
most frustrating, as you will have to give up a number of foods. Carbohydrates,
even complex ones, eventually break down to glucose (sugar) in the digestive
tract, and sugar feeds Candida. There are, however, lots of wonderful whole foods
that can keep you healthy and satisfied. We’ve provided a list of those whole
foods, as well as foods to avoid on your journey back to health. See the chapter
on ” Is Food Your Friend or Your Enemy?”
5. Don’t Invite Them Back (Your Belief System)
Our Beliefs Affect Our Health
The power of your mind and your belief system have everything to do with
the condition, the speed and the way that you heal. There is an emotional
component to every illness. Our thoughts, beliefs and emotions create our
physical health. Emotions that aren’t dealt with or, in other words, “stuffed”
down deep have a vibration that affects every one of our cells. That emotion will
then deter the cell from carrying out its various functions, which then leads to
imbalance in the body.
43
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 43
Stress is a contributing factor in Candida/Yeast overgrowth, and therefore it
is imperative to address what is causing the stress. Emotions such as feeling
stressed, anxiety or anger are nothing but our perception of any situation. Really
take that in and think about that, because we have the choice to look at things
differently. You can choose to stop, take a deep breath and determine exactly
what the truth is and how you want to respond. Choosing to calm yourself, to
ground yourself by sending your energy down into the earth, and to connect with
your heart by getting out of your head raises your vibration so that things begin to
look clearer and more manageable. It is all up to us as to how we want to look at
things.
Our beliefs or expectations are very powerful. And they can work either
way , they can improve our health or impair it. If you expect that you are going to
remain well, you increase the likelihood of this. If you expect that you are going
to become ill, you increase the likelihood of attaining this result. (Incidentally,
research over the last 20 years has proven in some detail the electrical and
chemical manner in which our thinking affects our bodies)
* Our Belief System is one of the major factors that can get us through situations
or can cause our life to crumble around us! We do believe that there is a lot of
44
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 44
innate goodness and balancing our minds do subconsciously to get us through
hard times. The other portion of this is how we "program" ourselves to deal with
any given situation.
* Our self-confidence and self-love are often the keys to opening and
strengthening this portion of our thoughts, which in turn emanates from us!
* Energy follows thought. Program thought to be positive and your energy will
reflect it!
* Really appreciating what we DO have as opposed to what we would like to
have sometimes makes a significant difference. This is always an important
element in healing that is often neglected.
The ability to balance your emotional, mental, physical and spiritual self is up to
you. Here are some suggestions:
Deep breathing and good posture assist oxygenation of the body, which inhibits Candida.
Positive emotions and attitudes reduce stress and promote healthy digestion.
It's about lifestyle change: proper nutrition, plenty of rest, staying hydrated with plenty of water and a good mind set!
45
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 45
Meditation and prayer calm your mind chatter and stimulate the relaxation response that allows you to connect to your true self.
Affirmations help to change the negative self-talk to a positive so that the vibration changes and you now are in a place where you repel negativity. (See suggested affirmations for Candida below)
It’s important to be aware of the underlying subconscious beliefs that you may be
holding in your energy field. Many times we believe we don’t feel a certain way
or don’t have a certain belief, but we actually do. One of the best ways to clear or
shift these underlying limiting beliefs is with a modality called ThetaHealing™.
What is ThetaHealing™ and how it Works
Our thoughts (both conscious and unconscious) create our lives.
ThetaHealing™ can help you make profound changes in your life by releasing
negative thought habits entrenched deep inside. Core beliefs that are hidden in
the subconscious shape our physical, mental and emotional reality without our
permission. These beliefs can add positive energy to our lives or they can present
roadblocks to our health and happiness. Theta can quickly and accurately
pinpoint your roadblocks and lift them—allowing you to move easily and
confidently toward your goals.
46
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 46
Bypassing mental and emotional gatekeepers, ThetaHealing™ addresses
the subconscious directly and simply. After discussing the issues you wish to
focus on, you and Deb identify the entrenched beliefs that are interfering with
your life without your permission. Deb then enters a Theta state, connects to
Creator of All That Is and facilitates the healing process by pulling incorrect beliefs
and replacing them with healthy ones and observing the change being made.
You can experience immediate release of long-held tensions and fears and feel
that inner space refilled with a calm security. ThetaHealing™ can complement
and even speed other therapeutic efforts by focusing on the underlying core
issues that profoundly affect all aspects of our physical, mental, spiritual and
emotional well-being. ThetaHealing™ empowers you to create whatever change

IS FOOD YOUR FRIEND OR YOUR ENEMY?
Food Basics
In general, a low-carbohydrate diet is preferred when clearing up
Candida/Yeast. Different people, however, have different sensitivities. Every
person is unique, as many of our clients can handle wheat despite a
Candida/Yeast problem. You and your body are your best guide as to which foods
to avoid. If you experience gas, bloating, fatigue, headache or other symptoms
from a specific food, avoid that food until you have gotten rid of the
Candida/Yeast overgrowth and your body is back in balance. At rock bottom,
however, all sugars MUST be avoided. Let’s start with the foods that you need to
avoid.
Foods to Avoid:
Sweeteners
Read labels carefully for any words that end in “ose”
Dextrose
Sucrose
Glucose
Maltose
48
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 48
Lactose

Brown Sugar
Corn Syrup
Granulated & Powdered Sugar
Date Sugar
Honey
Maple Syrup
Mannitol
Molasses
Sorbitol
Turbinado Sugar
Evaporated Cane Juice
Concentrated Fruit Juices
Stevia, Erythritol and Xylitol are excellent sugar substitutes. Stevia
comes from a plant that is known as the “Sweet Herb” and is on average
100% sweeter than sugar. A little goes a long way. Both Erythritol and
Xylitol have the added benefit of being antifungal and inhibit yeast
overgrowth. These natural sweeteners also have been proven to prevent
tooth decay in children and adults, as they help to prevent bacteria from
adhering to teeth. Erythritol and Xylitol are heat-stable for cooking and can
be used 1- to-1 in a recipe that calls for regular sugar.
49
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 49
*It’s very important to start with small amounts of Xylitol as it can cause some loose stools due to its antifungal properties.
Fruit
Fruit is high in natural sugars and should be avoided for at least the first 2
to 3 weeks and even longer if possible. And then it’s best to choose low-
sugar fruits.
*Low-Sugar Fruits
Strawberries
Blueberries
Raspberries
Blackberries
Pears
Granny Smith Apples
*These should be eaten in small amounts.
QUICK TIP: Read the label of every food product you buy to be sure there is no added sugar (a near impossible task these days!).

Focus On What You Can Eat
Due to the dietary restrictions, you may be wondering at times,
"What the heck am I supposed to eat?!" There are many delicious foods that you
can eat that will not contribute to Candida/Yeast overgrowth. Get in the habit of
choosing whole foods. Imagine the types of foods that your grandparents ate
when they grew up. Back then, they didn’t have Twinkies , potato chips and
processed food in a box. People ate simple recipes such as stews and soups made
with fresh vegetables and meat, both delicious and satisfying. Assuming you have
no allergic reactions, you can enjoy all of the following:

differently in our bodies. The glycemic index, or GI, describes this difference by ranking carbohydrates according to their effect on our blood glucose levels. Choosing low GI carbs - the ones that produce only small fluctuations in our blood glucose and insulin levels - is the secret to long-term health reducing your risk of heart disease and diabetes and is the key to sustainable weight loss.1

As your symptoms disappear, you can cautiously add back the forbidden
foods, one at a time and slowly. Do not eat any refined sugars for at least 6
months after your recovery. Having Candida/Yeast overgrowth once
predisposes one to getting it again, so be very careful after you are well.
Indulging in too many foods too quickly can cause a relapse.

Veggie Omelette
(2 servings)
2 large eggs - beaten 2 tsp. olive oil 1 large onion 1 large green pepper 1 15-ounce can diced tomatoes 1 15-ounce jar diced jalapeno peppers
(optional) salsa and/or hot sauce to taste (optional) sea salt and pepper to taste
Finely chop the onion and green pepper, and dump it into a large sealable bowl along with the tomato and optional jalapenos. Store in the fridge when done. You can use it in other recipes, like tacos. Pre-heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. It's hot enough when a drop of water dances on the surface. Meanwhile, sauté two tablespoons of the vegetable mixture in the olive oil until the onion clarifies; set aside. Spray the skillet with cooking oil spray and then pour the beaten egg into the skillet, covering the entire cooking surface. Add salt & pepper. Allow to set. While the egg sets, place the veggie mixture on top. When the egg has set, the

edges will curl up a bit. This will allow you to slip you spatula underneath without tearing the omelette. Fold one side over the veggies, then the other. Allow to sit in the pan for a few more seconds to allow the veggies to become heated through. Serve. Cover with salsa/ and or hot sauce if desired. Other veggies to try with this recipe: broccoli, red pepper, fresh tomato, asparagus, avocado, spinach or any other veggie you like!
Quinoa Vegetable Pilaf 2 Tbsp. onions, finely chopped 2 Tbsp. carrots, chopped ½ tsp. extra virgin olive oil ½ cup quinoa, rinsed 1 cup vegetable or chicken broth 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/3 cup fresh broccoli, chopped In a small saucepan, sauté onion and carrot in oil until tender. Add quinoa; stir to coat. Stir in broth and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until liquid is absorbed, adding the broccoli during the last 3 minutes of cooking. Remove from the heat; let stand for 5 minutes. PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
So, here we are. It is time to put it all together in some sort of logical, step-by-
step process. The recommendations that follow have been put together to
address the majority of people that are trying to get control of Candida/Yeast
overgrowth and have not been successful in the past. This program also works for
73
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 73
those of you who have never attempted cleansing before. (It pays to do it right
the first time). That being said, everyone is a perfectly unique individual and has
individual needs. If you find that you are not responding well to a particular herb
or formula, discontinue using it and try a different one in the same category. If
you have questions or are not feeling comfortable with the program for any
reason, please contact me, (Deb Kitt, CNHP) at [email protected] or at 303-
678-5444. We can set up an appointment and discover together your individual
needs.
Here are the major points to “Conquer Candida/Yeast for Good “. Follow the
Candida/Yeast Protocol for 3 to 6 months. Get an IonCleanse® foot bath once a
month or at least a couple of times to check for the appearance of Yeast and do
your spit tests. Follow the Candida/Yeast diet for the whole time. The first 2 to 4
weeks follow the restricted portion of the diet and slowly add one food back at a
time with at least 3 days in between new foods. Listen to your body and observe
how you feel; then determine if you have sensitivities to the food. If you feel
bad, tired, bloated, etc., eliminate this food and try something else. Keep a
positive attitude and find some joy and excitement in the discovery of new foods
and recipes. We have provided a “Crib Sheet” on some brand names of foods you
may not be familiar with. Most can be found at your local health food store or on
74
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 74
the Internet. Next, go over the “Belief Check List”. Do some inner searching
about how you view life and react to certain situations. Practice forgiveness and
self love. Take time to connect to Source Energy (God, Higher Self, etc.) and
listen. The answers will come. Make choices that are good for YOU. Learn to say
“NO” and believe that you are not responsible for others’ actions. You are only
responsible for YOUR actions: the food choices you make, the way you feel about
yourself, etc. If you need help with this, contact me for a ThetaHealing™ session
or seek some professional counseling.
Are you ready? Here we go!
Candida/Yeast Protocol
The Candida/Yeast Protocol is what I call getting out “The Big Guns”. This
program has helped many a person laden with yeast due to heavy antibiotic use,
digestive upset and poor diet. It is a comprehensive program of antifungal herbs,
natural antibiotics, probiotics, fiber and dietary recommendations.
75
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 75
Step 1
Check for Candida/Yeast. Take the spit test and answer the questionnaire. In
addition, you may want to do an IonCleanse® foot bath and see if Candida (white
cheesy particles) forms on the top of the water in the first 15 minutes of the
treatment. You can also have a Natural Health Practitioner muscle test you for
Candida. (I can do this remotely if you contact me for a phone consultation -Deb
Kitt, 303-678-5444). The IonCleanse® foot bath is nice because at the end of the
Candida/Yeast cleanse you will to see how much different your water looks.
Ideally, there will be no white particles showing up on top of the water.
Step 2
If you want to get Candida under control do the following……
1. Take 1 box of Candida Clear over 2 week period.
2. Take 2 oz. of Silver Shield on day 1 and 2. Take 1 oz. of Silver Shield on
days 3,4,5,6. (2 bottles)
76
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 76
3. Take Probiotic Eleven - 1 with each meal and 1 at bedtime or (4 at bed
time).
4. Add Everybody’s Fiber to absorb toxins. Follow recommended dosage.
5. Follow the restricted Candida Diet
6. Drink plenty of pure water (64oz or more) and get plenty of rest (6 – 8 hrs.)
7. At the end of the cleanse, start taking Candida Homeopathic
Step 3
1. Take spit test again. If spit is clear, go to Step 4.
2. If Candida is still present, take Homeopathic Candida for one week. (In
addition you can do an IonCleanse® foot bath to see if a lot of heavy
metals form in the water and how much Candida shows up.)
3. Repeat Candida Protocol (Step 2).
4. Add Heavy Metal Detox if there was lots of heavy metals in your foot bath
water.
77
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 77
Note: Some individuals may be so overgrown with Candida they may have to
do the 2 week protocol 2 or 3 times. Rest 1 week between each 2-week program
and take Homeopathic Candida.
Step 4
This is the most important step to prevent reinfection and heal the gut. You
can do this protocol for 3 to 6 months, rotating supplements in each
category and adding in an enzyme to take with your meals. So, you would
continue on with one antifungal herbal formula, one formula to repair the
gut, a type of fiber, a probiotic and an enzyme. For example:
Antifungal: Caprylic Acid Combination Month 1
Yeast Fungal Detox Month 2
Pau D’ Arco Month 3
Gut Repair: Uña de Gato* Month 1
Kudzu St. John’s Wort Month 2
Intestinal Soothe and Build Month 3
Fiber: Everybody’s Fiber Month 1
78
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 78
LoClo Month 2
Nature’s Three Month 3
Probiotic: Probiotic Eleven Month 1
Bifidophilus Flora Force Month 2
Acidophilus Month 3
**Enzyme: Food Enzymes for most people
Proactazyme Plus for vegetarians
*Uña de Gato is not for suitable if you have an autoimmune disorder.
**You can rotate these two types of enzyme supplements to see which one
works best for you.

A Note about Cleansing and Pregnancy
In general, it is never a good idea to cleanse the body while pregnant or breast
feeding. Many toxins are stirred up in this process that could be harmful to the
baby. This protocol for the Candida/Yeast cleanse is not recommended for
pregnant and nursing mothers. If your symptoms are extremely uncomfortable or
difficult, you may go on the Candida/Yeast diet and use Silver Shield (natural
antibiotic) short term and one cup of Pau D’ Arco tea every day.
81
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 81
If you are trying to get pregnant and can’t,
Candida/Yeast overgrowth could be the problem. It is
wise to do at least a month or two of the Candida/Yeast
cleansing protocol while avoiding getting pregnant. Then you may discontinue
the herbs, remain on the enzymes, fiber and Candida/Yeast diet and resume
trying again This system of cleansing first and then trying to have a baby has
worked for many couples who were having fertility problems. (Candida/Yeast
overgrowth throws the entire body out of balance, including the reproductive
system). The advantage to clearing up this overgrowth first is that the mother will
not pass it on to the baby. Babies who experience thrush, diaper rash and colic
often suffer from an infection passed on by the mother. Make sure you have a
healthy baby by taking time to cleanse before planning to get pregnant. As a side
note, if you think your baby has Candida/Yeast, add some probiotics to his/her
formula or bottled breast milk. This will rebalance the microflora in the gut,
often easing colic and clearing up thrush.
82
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 82
Children’s Protocol Adjustments
Many children suffer from Candida/Yeast overgrowth. Typical symptoms can
be allergies, colic, hyperactivity, frequent infections, diaper rash, eczema and
thrush. Herbs are safe for children, but the dosages must be adjusted. Most
herbal and supplement recommendations are based on an average adult
weighing around 150 lbs. (give or take). Dosages should be adjusted for the age
and weight of the child. For example, if you have a school-aged child who weighs
around 75 lbs., then the dosage would be cut in half. If you have a toddler who
weighs around 35 lbs., then the dosage would be one-quarter of the adult dosage.
For children who cannot swallow capsules, there are products in chewable and
liquid form. Pau D’ Arco liquid or tea is both appropriate and quite effective.
Nature’s Sunshine Products has a very nice line of children’s chewables, including
Sunshine Heroes Probiotic Power, Whole Foods Papayazyme (enzyme
supplement) and Whole Foods Antioxidant (immune booster). These products
can be found at my NSP store at www.mynsp.com/debkitt. Remember that the
Candida/Yeast diet must be followed along with the supplements. You may find
that a Candida/Yeast cleanse will help your child focus better, become less cranky
83
DebKitt, CNHP www.debkitt.com Page 83
and aggressive and just become much happier in general. The transformations
can be amazing.
