AbouttheDockTheEsquimaltGravingDock'sdimensionsmeasure357.5metresby38.4metresorabout1,200feetlongby135feetwide.Thenorthlandingjettyis305metreslong(1000feet)andcontains10metresofwater(30feet)atlowtide.Thereisanother305metres(1000feet)ofberthfrontageatthesouthlandingwharf.

TheDockcanbedividedintwowithacaissonandclosedbyfloatingcaissonsballastedwithconcreteandseawater.AtunnelonthenorthsideisusedtofillandemptytheDockandthistunnelconnectstoseparatetunnelsenablingeachsectionofthedryocktofillindependentlythroughculvertsinthefloor.

Thepropertyperimeterisfencedandtherearereinforcedconcreteretainingwallsborderingtheeastend.TheDockislitbyeighthighmasttowerswithhighpressuresodiumlightingfixturesplusstandardmercuryvapourlighting.

Recently,stabilizerpocketswerebuiltintotheconcretewallsofthedrydock.Thisnewfeatureenablescruiseshipstoextendtheirstabilizersforinspection,maintenanceandrepairwhileindrydock.
