ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of mechanical engineering was established in 2008.

We offers program in diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate in

mechanical engineering. Department strives to impart quality

education keeping in view the global scenario and social obligation.

Department has dedicated faculty having research in major areas of

Mechanical Engineering such as Design & analysis, Refrigeration & Air

conditioning and manufacturing technologies with cumulative

experience of 100 years. Laboratories have been set up with modern

facilities for strengthening teaching & research. Research department

also have well equipped workshops that caters to the need of entire

college.

SCOPE OF COURSE

Mechanical engineering finds application in all fields of technology. It is

one of the primitive branches of engineering, which have remained

always in demand and continue to be in future. This is why mechanical

is known as evergreen trade. Mechanical engineering has always been

needed in various industries of both public & private sector. Their work

criteria change according to type & domain of the company. As the

industrial sector has drastically risen in pace from last year. Their

growth rate is 70% increase in mechanical industries, so the need for

more mechanical engineers has increased exponentially.

There are different types of labs and workshops like engineering

material and metallurgy , strength of material , fluid mechanics and

fluid machinery , heat transfer , theory of machines ,industrial

automation , thermal engineering , automobile engineering ,mechanical

vibration and cad/ cam in which students perform their experiments to

test the strength of material , hardness , grain size of material , their

microstructure, solar energy, robotics , petrol and diesel engines, heat

flow in different materials. Mechanical department has also different

workshops like machine shops ,fitting shops , foundry shop, smithy

shop, carpentry shop etc.

MECHANICAL PROJECTS

1. Special purpose pneumatic lathe machine.

To boost manufacturing process students made special purpose lathe machine with

pneumatic control under the supervision of our experienced teachers and further

research is going on for more improvements.

STUDENTS INVOLVED: Gursharan Singh Grewal,Harmandeep Singh,Lakhvir Singh,Robin

Singh

2. Excavator machine.

Page 5: ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTSingh,Vijay,Ketan Garg 3. Automated fork lifter. With the guidance of teachers our first batch students made automated fork lifter truck by using electronic circuits

To increase the knowledge in the field of hydraulic and pneumatics circuit our students

modified the conventional hydraulic design into pneumatics for quick and fast

operation.

STUDENTS INVOLVED:Avi,Anil,Bhupinder Singh,Gagan Kaura,Gurjeet Singh,Harjinder

Singh,Kamaldeep Singh,Kamaljeet,Manpinder Singh,Manpreet Singh,Sukhwant

Singh,Vijay,Ketan Garg

3. Automated fork lifter.

With the guidance of teachers our first batch students made automated fork lifter truck

by using electronic circuits so as to accomplish the goal of automated material handling

in industries.

STUDENTS INVOLVED:Sanjit Singh Khela,Rupinder Kaur,Gurvir Singh,Amritpal

Singh,Kirandeep Kaur,Kamaldeep Kaur, Gurpreet singh, Sukhdeep Singh, Parminder

Kaur, Satveer Kaur

4. Regenerative braking system

Page 7: ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTSingh,Vijay,Ketan Garg 3. Automated fork lifter. With the guidance of teachers our first batch students made automated fork lifter truck by using electronic circuits

In the field of automobile engineering various types of energies are lost so our students

researched on this study of energies and made a regenerative braking system model so

as to re-use the energy lost during braking process.

STUDENTS INVOLVED:Harinderpal Singh,Himanshu Sachdeva,Manish Goyal,Jasvir

Singh,Tarjinder Singh,Gurvinder Singh

5. Modes of heat transfer

Page 8: ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTSingh,Vijay,Ketan Garg 3. Automated fork lifter. With the guidance of teachers our first batch students made automated fork lifter truck by using electronic circuits

To explain and thoroughly understand the concept of heat transfer in various forms our

students of 1st batch made a set of equipments to study the heat transfer modes

Conduction, Convection and Radiation can now be practically studied and better

understood.

STUDENTS INVOLVED:Jaspreet Singh,Arshdeep Singh,Jagjeet Singh

6. Working model of jet engine

Page 9: ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTSingh,Vijay,Ketan Garg 3. Automated fork lifter. With the guidance of teachers our first batch students made automated fork lifter truck by using electronic circuits

Keeping in mind the progress made by science in the field of aircraft and automobile

engineering our students made a working model of a jet engine. The jet engine working

on LPG gas gives a good overview to students about the scientific progress in aerospace

engineering.

STUDENTS INVOLVED:Amandeep Singh,Gurjeet Singh,Inderpreet Singh,Snadeep

Singh,Vikramjeet Singh

7. Go No-Go conveyor

Page 10: ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTSingh,Vijay,Ketan Garg 3. Automated fork lifter. With the guidance of teachers our first batch students made automated fork lifter truck by using electronic circuits

To electronically inspect and reject the finished goods in industry our students made a

conveyor system that used an electronically programmed circuit. This can reduce the

labour cost and inspection time by automating this process.

STUDENTS INVOLVED:Harpinder singh,Iqbal Singh,Gaganpreet Singh
