About the collections Desert Queen und Puro These collections are a wonderful tribute to natural furniture, featuring a wealth of details lovingly created in manual craftsmanship. Puro furniture is enhanced by artistic carvings which bear witness to the skills of Indian craftsmen, who have passed on their woodcarving knowledge from generation to generation. The special charm of Desert Queen is provided by its decorative ornamentation in the style of traditional henna painting, also known as ‘mehndi’. Mehndis, which are currently also widespread in fashion design, originated in Persia and to the present day form part of the wedding ceremony in India and Morocco. We create the collections from solid mango wood, which is enjoying great popularity in contemporary furniture making because of its robustness and attractive grain. In addition its use is ecologically sustainable. In tropical regions the mango tree grows almost everywhere in plantations, and provides delicious fruit for around 15 years. After that its wood serves as raw material for furniture. Collection Desert Queen “My vision was to create a touching furniture series. Surfaces soft as velvet, the honest manual work and the decorative paintings give a very natural and relaxed atmosphere at home,” Jürgen Reiter, Co-founder of KARE and responsible for the creation of the collections.
