Humanitarian and scholar, Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Pema Khandro dedicates herself to the practice and philosophy of Tibet’s Buddhist Yogis. She continues this life-affirming tradition which emphasizes the integration of Buddhist wisdom with family, work and society.

Pema Khandro specializes in the meditation practice of the Great Perfection, known as Dzogchen. These practices focus on awakening innate wisdom in body and mind.

Pema Khandro’s background is in Buddhist philosophy, meditation and medicine.

She is certified as a Tibetan Naturopath, and has led numerous courses in nutrition, yoga teacher trainings, yoga therapy, and meditation.

She is also a fully authorized teacher in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, trained as a lineage holder and enthroned as a traditional reincarnate lama.

Today, she continues to advocate for the importance and relevance of Tibet’s Yogi tradition in North America.

Recognition and Activities

Pema-Khandro was recognized by his Eminence Gyaldak Rinpoche as the present reincarnation (tulku) of a 19th century yogini. Afforded the opportunity to do so, Pema-Khandro accepted the title of Pema-Khandro Rinpoche. This recognition is a way of sustaining lineages, passing on the heritage of Buddhist predecessors onto current leaders.
