Rights and obligations of users
Registration of users
Why? Services of University Library are provided only for registered users.
When and for how much? • at the first visit of Loan Department or study room • students of university = free of charge
What you need for registration? • ISIC or University ID card • Passport or Identity card
Where? Loan Department + study rooms
What is necessary at the first visit of Loan Department or study rooms
• If you want to borrow a book or use the area of library or study rooms, it is necessary to have ISIC or student identification card with you.
• According to Directive No. 124/2008 for identification cards of University of Ostrava, student has the obligation to purchase a card.
• Visitors must submit a valid card whenever entering the study room (attendance, verification of registration).

OFF-SITE LOANS
Students of University of Ostrava

• Maximum up to 3 times for an additional month
• Before an item becomes overdue, we will e-mail you to your University account 7 days in advance. When it is not possible to prolong:
• Reader has a fine (does not prolong on time aj.)
• Reader exhausted 3 possibilities of extension
• Item is requested by another user
This has to be checked. If it is not possible to prolong documents, reader must return them on time, otherwise fines must be paid.
Fines are charged for the first and second overdue notices (15CZK/per one), for the third and fourth reminders (45CZK/per one)
If you do not return the item on time (off-site loan) =
fine is 2CZK per day per document
If you do not return the item on time (1-day and weekend loan) = fine is 50CZK per day (for one week), and 100CZK per day from the next week

Licensed databases are branch or multidisciplinary specialized electronic resources. University of Ostrava subscribes access to them.
They contain hundreds of journal articles, posts, scientific studies, including full text, which can be used and downloaded for study and research purposes.

EDS is fast integrated search service. You can search and browse all full-text databases, e-journals, eBooks, subject indexes and Library catalogue.

It is used to access to the databases from PCs outside of University network
for example: from your home
The databases are accessible via the authorised remote access:
