Abermain and Weston Property Update Welcome to the final edition of the Abermain and Weston Property Update for 2014. What a year it has been for our local community. We had the official opening of the Hunter Expressway which has generated so much interest in the area, the Abermain Hawks rugby league team narrowly missed the playoffs and raised much needed funds for Breast Cancer, the Weston Bears Football Club were named club of the year for Northern NSW, the community rallied together in support of a family devastated by fire, and not to forget the permanent closure of the Hydro Aluminium plant.

Abermain and Weston Property Update

Welcome to the final edition of the Abermain andWeston Property Update for 2014.

What a year it has been for our local community. Hydro Update

Hydro, developed the ‘Community Reference Group’ (CRG) to help disseminateinformation on the site redevelopment.

At last CRG meeting we discussed words or concepts that might help develop aname/brand for the project. Which are the following:

Forward looking, Aspirational, Shows potential, Prosperity, HunterWorth, Woods land, Wonnarua, Clean, Housing, Jobs, Bowditch, Farm, BSiding, Settlement, Wentworth, Eco Park, Development Area, Prosperity,Loxford, Wetlands Development, Improvement

Biodiversity was mentioned with some 1349 Ha likely to be zoned E2 – which isfor environmental conservation. This is a large proportion of the 2000 Ha site

The current plan also has;

Approx. 200Ha commercial/industrialApprox. 182 Ha low density residential (with a further 14Ha adjacent to theresidential for public recreation)Approx. 162 for rural landscape.
