The APICS Opportunity Fund
The APICS Opportunity Fund was created by the APICS Finance Committee as a vehicle to fund the exploration of new ideas and build organizational and/or professional capacity.
Ideas could include the exploration of new business models, research & development innovation, or the initiation of a new program that would typically not be funded in the regular operating budget.
In order to ensure that we are utilizing this fund to the maximum benefit of the organization, the Finance Committee has published funding criteria and a process to be followed when requesting funds.

The Funding Process
Funds are only available upon approval. The fund applicant must complete a new project proposal form, have
discussions with functional areas that could be impacted, and submit the form to the Finance Committee.
The proposal will be considered at the next Finance Committee meeting. The initiator may be contacted for additional information and/or invited to present the application for discussion at the meeting.
The CEO will indicate the disposition of the request. It may be approved as submitted to the Finance Committee and then forwarded to the Board for approval, or returned for additional development, denied, etc.
Projects resulting in approved requests will be created and tracked with updates provided to the Finance Committee at appropriate milestones.

Additional Information
Requests of less than $10,000 are generally considered achievable from the normal operating budget and would not qualify.
The proposal form can be requested from the finance team or accessed through the Governance section of C-Box:
Questions/comments regarding the Opportunity Fund policy or proposal form can be emailed to [email protected] and the finance team will respond as soon as possible.
The Foundation’s Beyond the Horizon research project with Michigan State University was the most recent project funded.
