Abbreviations: P – purl K – knit K5 into 1 st – knit 5 into one stitch. Knit first stitch as a normal knit stitch, yo for the 2 nd , knit 3 rd stitch as usual , yo for the 4 th , and knit the 5 th as a normal knit stitch. Yo – yarn over K1 tbl – knit 1 stitch through the back loop. This twists the yo stitches from the previous row to eliminate gaps in the knitted fabric. Ssk – slip, slip, knit. Creates a left-leaning decrease. K2tog – Knit two together. Creates a right-leaning decrease. Sl2tog, k1, psso - slip next 2 stitches to right needle as if to k2tog. Knit next stitch, and pass slipped stitches over the stitch just knit. Cast on 90 st onto circular needles. Join to knit in the round (making sure work is not twisted), and place a marker to indicate the beginning of the round. Working the border: Round 1: P all stitches. 90 st.
