Abbot represents a cross section of the larger community:
• Over 1/3 of students eligible for the free lunch program
• Nearly 40% representing an ethnic minority

In 2011, Principal Pam Sica recognized the detrimental effect summer learning loss has on every student and the cumulative effect it has on her most at-risk students.
Principal Sica contacted ThinkStretch to help students in grades K-4 combat their summer brain drain and promote a community of learning at Abbot.

Last summer, Abbot students completed their third summer of using ThinkStretch to help prevent summer learning loss.
