    our understanding of the problem

AB Phokompe Secondary School in Mohlakeng - Randfontein,

has sports facilities catering for the following sporting codes:Soccer, Basket Ball/Netball and Volley Ball. However, all thesefacilities are in a deteriorated state as illustrated. These facilitieshave been vandalized and the courts and pitch have become adumping site and thoroughfare. Ironically, the community alsouses these facilities for practise and games on a regular basis.

The school has an allocated budget of approximatelyR700,000.00 towards a mulit-purpose sports facility comprisedof the following elements:

    1. A Grass Soccer/ Rugby Pitch with relevant goal Posts

    2. A Cricket Practise Pan

    3. Grand Stands

    4. Ablutions & Tuckshop

In the summary of the Bill of Quantities, we have costed for alarger budget to accommodate more sporting codes. thatinclude a swimming pool. We can help put together a businessplan which will justify the need for these extra facilities.

Of note should be the following:

    1. Architectural Drawings rendered herein are not final and canbe amended as requested.

    2. Costs projected are only estimates and may vary one detaileddrawings are submitted.

    3. If we appointed to undertake the project, Final Architectural,Structural and Building Drawings will only be started once aLetter of Appointment has been signed.

    The Proposed Solution

Based on the briefing and current infrastructure status, we have prepared the following solution.

    Soccer/Rugby Pitch:

    1. An Instant Lawn made of Kikuyu Grass.Kikuyu Grass is suitable for the sunny areas (more that 60% sun per day). This is a very strong type grassthat will withstand high traffic. It does not need a lot of maintenance provided it gets a lot of water andfertilizer (about four times a year) to maintain. Upon installation, we will provide training of caretakers aswell as a cost-conscious scheduled maintenance service.

    2. Association Football Pitch standard field (in terms of dimensions), with Goal Posts and Nets

    3. Rugby Goal Extensions to adapt the infrastructure for Rugby Games.

    Cricket Practise Pan:

    1. 2 Cricket Practise Pitches enclosed in nets

    2. Synthetic Grass finishing - even though more expensive than Instant Lawn, it has a 20 year lifespanand requires even less maintenance.

    3. Stumps and Bails

    Refurbishing of Existing Multipurpose Courts:

1.Repair of Courts: Retreating, Painting, Crack Filling

    2. Repair of Perimetre Fencing

    Irrigation:

    1. 50mm Feeder Pipe driven by high pressure pump (Minimum 2 Bar)

    2. 100m Flat Line with extensions3. 5 Oscillating Sprinklers (covering 20m circumference)

    2 Grand Stand & Ablutions:

    1. 3m Steel Structure Frame2. 5 Tier3. Oxide FInish4. Roof Optional - pending sun study5. Male & Female Toilets with Showers6. Tuck Shop
