It is mailed to about 50 countries and is listed as one of the 30 "core" dental journals in ISI Current Contents in recognition of its contributions to the dental literature. "Core" means those journals that are frequently cited and have the "greatest impacY' on the dental periodical literature. The last two volumes have included a special issue in addition to the regularly scheduled quarterly publications. The journal has had only nine editors in its 50 years- Vern D. Irwin, William R. Davis, Frank C. Cady, R. C. Leonard, Harry L. Draker, E. Alex Pearson, Kenneth A. Easlick, David F. Striffler, and now Dennis H. Leverett. Being an editor is a demanding job and the association will forever be in their debt. Under their leadership, the Journal has become the pride of the association. As I ask Dr. Leverett to come forward to accept this plaque, I would like to read a poem that Dr. David Striffler quoted when he excepted the association's Special Merit Award in 1986 for hiscontributions to the Journalandthe associa- tion. The Editor stood 'fore the Heavenly Gate, His features pinched and cold. He bowed before the Man of Fate, Seeking admission to the fold. "What have you done," St. Peter asked, 'To gain admission here?" "I was the Journal's editor, Sir, For many a weary year." The Pearly Gates swung open wide as Peter pressed the bell. "Come in and choose your harp," he cried; 'You've had your share of hell!" The inscription on the plaque reads as follows: "Presented to the Journal of Public Healfh Dentistry in celebration of its 50th anniversary and in recognition of its significant contributions to the knowledge and prin- ciples on which dental public health practice is based." Conference citation style. If you tkink Jane Fonda looked good at 50, just take a

look at our Journal now! It is mailed to about 50 countries and is listed as one of the 30 "core" dental journals in I S I Current Contents in recognition of its contributions to the dental literature.

David Striffler quoted when he excepted the association's Special Merit Award

in 1986 for hiscontributions to the Journaland the associa- tion.

"Come in and choose your harp," he cried; 'You've had your share of hell!"

The inscription on the plaque reads as follows: "Presented to the Journal of Public Healfh Dentistry in celebration of its 50th anniversary and in recognition of its significant contributions to the knowledge and prin- ciples on which dental public health practice is based."
