Night Zookeeper - Colour Chaos

Dear Teacher,

Thank you for downloading this activity pack. This will enable your

class to take part in the project using paper based resources. It’s

perfect for classes that don’t always have one-to-one laptops or

tablets available to them. To help your class submit their ideas,

we’ve included a selection of submission sheets that you can print

for your students to use.

You will also find a synopsis for each episode which you can read

together with your class before completing the challenges outlined

in the tables within this activity pack.

Once your children have completed the chosen activities, you can

either upload them to our website (show.nightzookeeper.com) or

mail them to our postal address. Full details of how to submit your

entries can be found on the following page.

Ask students to write the challenge number and title

Episode 1 - The Pilot

Welcome to Episode 1. Here is what we know so far.... Will and

Riya are painting the backdrop for the school play when Sam -

a ‘Spying Giraffe’ who can turn invisible, appears on the

painted backdrop. He speaks to Will and tells him that the

Night Zoo needs his help. Will doesn’t think twice… he is the

Night Zookeeper after all! He enters a portal but doesn’t realise

that Riya has seen it all happen, and follows him in!

Once in the Night Zoo, Will has to find the Penguin Professor

who has gone missing! They have many adventures on the

way, before discovering the Professor, who informs them that

the ‘Brown Colour Port’ is missing. This means all the colour

brown will disappear from the world! Unless our heroes can

save it...

Now it’s your turn! We have so many challenges for you here!

Episode 2 - Guardian of Green

In Episode 2, our heroes are on a mission to save the colour

green! Maji the Time Travelling Elephant, explains that the

Green Colour Port is protected by its Guardian - ‘The

Guardian of Green’ - in the Whispering Woods. Who this

Guardian animal is, is completely up to you!

Will then tries to create a portal to teleport them all there, but

his torch isn’t working. Instead he accidentally makes it rain

all kinds of strange things! What do you think could rain down

from the sky?

Will, Riya and Sam finally give up and race to the Whispering

Woods on foot, but they arrive to find the Guardian of Green

devastated - the green has already started turning grey! Sam

turns invisible and spies a Void, digging its fangs into the

Green Colour Port.

Will tries to defeat it with his torch… but things don’t quite go

to plan! Can you help us decide what goes wrong?! The Zoo

Needs You!

Episode 3 - Monkey Business

In Episode 3, all we know so far, is that our heroes are travelling

up a mountain to save the colour yellow. Sam hates this as he is

terrified of heights! So the first thing Will and Riya have to do is

help Sam to overcome his fear. And your first job is to decide

how they calm Sam down!

As the team journey up the mountain, they find the Guardian of

Yellow! Who are they? Where do they live and what do they like

most in the world? Night Zookeeper Will explains to the

Guardian of Yellow that the yellow colour port is in danger! And

the Guardian sends Will, Riya and Sam to find the Flower of

Enlightenment, explaining that it will help them in their quest...

Where do they send them? How do they get there? And is

anything guarding the flower? The Zoo Needs You!

Episode 4 - Enlightenment

In this episode, the team is in a very dangerous predicament

and they need to get out of there fast! Riya helps calm Will

down by singing him a song about lots of things that are yellow.

Maybe you could write that song? It works, and Will successfully

uses his torch to teleport them all back to the mountain side.

When they arrive, they see that yellow is disappearing! What

changes have happened to the mountain and the animals that

live there?

They rush back to the cave where they first met the Guardian of

Yellow but Sam is distracted by something on the way there...

Can you imagine what?

Inside the cave they discover the Guardian of Yellow tied up and

the yellow colour port gone! But, how far away is the Void

monster really? You decide! The Zoo Needs You!

Episode 5 - The Campfire of Creativity

Riya, Will, Sam and the ailing Guardian of Yellow huddle

around a campfire. Next to them is the shaman-like Guardian of

Orange, stoking its flames with whispered, half-stories to keep

the creative spark burning. Who is this Guardian of Orange and

what does the ‘Campfire of Creativity’ look like?

The team must heal the Grandmaster right away! Will has to tell

the campfire a story for this to happen… but he doesn’t have any

ideas! So Riya steps in to save the night! Can you help her to

come up with a story to tell the fire?

The Guardian of Orange succeeds, but then collapses exhausted.

Will tells Riya and Sam that they must take it in turns to keep

watch over the Sleeping Grandmaster and Guardian of Orange,

whilst keeping the Fire of creativity alight with their stories…

Episode 6 - The Nightmare of Nulth

What we know so far in Episode 6, is that Will wakes up at the

campfire all alone. The fire is out and he is in great jeopardy. He

is alone with the Voids closing in and no torch… What does all

this mean? Well luckily, it is just a nightmare! What other

nightmares might Will have? What monsters might haunt him

at night? We need you to design them and imagine what else

might happen!

Upon waking, Will’s relief quickly turns to dread though… The

campfire of creativity is out and the orange port is gone…

Whose fault was it? What happens now that Orange has been

stolen? The Zoo Needs You!

Episode 7 - Danger Ahead, Colour Red

In Episode 7, the colour red is threatened, so our heroes need to

travel to save it! Where is the red colour port in the Night Zoo?

Who is the Guardian of Red? What does Will have to do to save

it? It’s all up to you.

Whilst Will is battling for the red, Riya and Sam receive an

urgent call from Maji at the Tusk Temple. Purple is under attack

as well! Riya sets off to try and save it on her own! What do you

think would happen if purple is lost to the dark? Remember, the

Zoo Needs You!
