Pattern Stitches: K1, P1 Rib Pattern: Row 1 (RS): *[K1, P1]; repeat from the* to the end of row. Row 2: As Row 1. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for the pattern.

Lace Panel (over 25 sts) See the chart.

Right Twist (RT): K2tog, leaving the sts on the left needle, then insert the point of the right needle between these

2 sts and knit the 1st one again.

Left Twist (LT): Skip the 1st st and K1 through its back loop, then knit the skipped st and slip both sts off the left needle together. Back: With the smaller needles, CO 76 (84, 94, 102) sts.

Begin K1, P1 Rib pattern, and work even until the piece measures approx. 1½" from the beginning, ending after WS row.

Change to the larger needles, begin Stockinette st, and work even until the piece measures approx. 13½" from the beginning, ending after WS row. Shape Armholes: BO 3 (4, 5, 6) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st each side every row 3 (3, 5, 5) times, then every other row 2 (3, 3, 3) times. Shape Shoulder: BO 5 (6, 6, 7) sts at the shoulder edge twice, BO 5 (5, 7, 8) sts at the shoulder edge once. Sleeves: With the smaller needles, CO 45 (47, 47, 49) sts. Begin K1, P1 Rib pattern, and work even until the piece measures approx. 1½" from the beginning, ending after WS row. Change to the larger needles, and set up patterns as follows: Work 10 (11, 11, 12) sts in Stockinette st, PM, work Row 1 of Lace Pattern over the middle 25 sts, PM, work 10 (11, 11, 12) sts in Stockinette st to end the row. Continue the patterns as established, and increase 1 st each side every 6 rows 0 (0, 7, 11) times, every 8 rows 0 (2, 3, 0) times, every 10 rows 3 (5, 0, 0) times, then every 12 rows 3 (0, 0, 0) times. (57 (61, 67, 71) sts) Continue even until the piece measures approx. 13" from the beginning, ending after WS row. Shape Cap: BO 3 (4, 5, 6) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st each side every other row 13 (15, 16, 18) times, then every row 2 (1, 2, 1) times. (21 sts remain) BO 2 sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows. (13 sts remain) BO. Finishing: Sew shoulder seams. Neckband: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 67 sts along neck opening. Begin K1, P1 Rib pattern, and work even until band measures approx.. 1" from beginning. BO. Buttonband: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 89 (92, 95, 98) sts along left front edge, including side of neckband. Begin K1, P1 Rib pattern, and work even until band measures approx. 1" from beginning. BO. Place markers for 7 buttons along band, making the 1st and last ¼" from 1st neck BO and lower edge, respectively, and the others evenly-spaced in between them. Buttonhole Band: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 89 (92, 95, 98 sts along right front edge, including side of neckband. Begin K1, P1 Rib pattern, and work even until band measures approx. ½" from beginning. Next Row: Work buttonholes opposite markers by BO 2 sts. Next Row: Continue in pattern as established, and CO 2 sts above the BO sts from previous row. Complete same as buttonband. Set in the sleeves. Sew the sleeve and side seams. Sew on the buttons. Weave in all ends and block as necessary.
