Welcome to the second edition of

our A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross

Improvement Scheme newsletter.

This is designed to keep you up to

date with progress on the scheme to

upgrade 14km of the A30 from single

to dual carriageway north of Truro.

We held a public consultation from 15 October – 2 December 2016 where you were able to view the proposed route for the A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross improvement scheme and provide your feedback.

Whilst the consultation is now closed, you’re still able to view details of the proposed route on our webpage.

We are currently analysing all of the feedback received and having further discussions with local land and property owners. This, along with further technical and design work, will help us make a decision about the preferred route. We hope to make this decision in the next few months.

A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross improvement scheme

Issue 2 Spring 2017

Ground investigation works At the beginning of February we started to carry out ground investigation works to analyse the environment and local geology. This work is nearly complete and will help us further develop our proposals.

The land we survey will not necessarily be affected by the construction of the final scheme.A ground investigation fact sheet explaining what is involved in this work is available on our scheme webpage.

Survey worksWe have also surveyed ground levels to identify and map the contours of the ground and existing features on it i.e. trees, buildings, streets, walkways, manholes, utility poles and retaining walls etc.

We are also surveying local ecology to identify any habitats and/or species that exist in and around the locality of the scheme. This means that we can take steps to avoid them or reduce our impact on them.

Next StepsSubject to the findings of the consultation and subsequent land owner meetings, a preferred route announcement will be made in the next few months.

ERDF fundingThe cost of developing this scheme is part funded by an £8m contribution from the European Regional Development Fund.
