they eat for free.
Progressive PDM Drawing If Stuart Schaller had been at the PDM in March he
would have won $200. This month will the members only drawing will be $300.
In his 10 years as CEO, Richard’s leadership style matured from a controlling, hands-on micro manager to a more strategic leader and coach. He will share with us simple yet life changing lessons and discuss how to empower leaders to create their own culture of achievement that will lead to guaranteed business success. We will learn how to start working "ON the business" and not "IN the business" to improve results as Richard shares how to:
•Define our own leadership role and leverage our unique talents to focus on what only we can accomplish for our enterprise •Create a compelling Vision that inspires organization-wide action •Cultivate a Team of Trusted A-Players and learn to hire people with future leadership potential •Retain A-Players by having fun and celebrating success
At age 28, Richard took the reins of his 100 year old family car and truck dealership business after his father was forced to retire suddenly. That alone was a challenge. Worse, the business was losing $3.5 million a year and there was no plan. With help from his mentor, Frank, Richard was able to apply creative strategies, articulate a crystal clear vision, hire the right people and forge a dynamic team ultimately helping the business survive and then prosper in a tough and competitive industry. Richard is now a speaker who shares with his audiences the key strategies that guarantee business success today into tomorrow. Richard lives in Evergreen, Colorado with his wife and two teenage children and likes to spend his leisure time golfing, skiing and traveling with family and friends. Richard is a professional member of the National Speakers Association.

Education News The APICS Colorado FY ends June 30, 2017, and this has been a fast and successful APICS year. This Spring we still have Detailed Planning and Scheduling, Execution and Control of Operations,
and Strategic Management of Resources classes. See schedules in this newsletter.
APICS will revise the CPIM program to include only 2 exams/courses instead of 5. Currently the
5 exams/courses are Basics of Supply Chain Management, Master Planning of Resources, Detailed Scheduling and Planning, Execution and Control of Operations, and Strategic
Management of Resources.
In the future there will still be a Basics of Supply Chain Management Exam and then there will be 1 exam that covers all the other areas of CPIM. Folks will have until September 2017 to complete the current BSCM exam. The Current BSCM will also
count toward the next configuration of CPIM. Students will have until the end of 2018 to take the remaining four exams in the current program, although they will have to get their ATT (Authorization to Test) by July 1, 2018.
It is still our plan that this Winter/Spring session will be the final chance to take the CPIM program in the current format, that
is, smaller pieces of SCM per exam and class.
The Sales and Operations Planning seminar last month was a great success, if we do it again next year, please take a look at
attending.
The CLTD pins are in stock, so if you achieved CLTD and did not get your lapel pin at a PDM, please see me at the April PDM.
Class schedules for the Fall 2017 classes will be published in July, we are still looking at pricing for the new CPIM program.
Please let me know if you would like to schedule a discussion about a private APICS course for your company, we can accommodate a variety of formats.
If you have questions, you can contact me at 303-271-1818 x105 or [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you in a course in the future.
Thank you for your support of APICS Education!
Roger W. Harris, CFPIM, CIRM, C.P.M., PMP, CSCP, CPSM, CLTD VP of Education, Colorado Chapter

What are Students saying about APICS Education in Colorado?
"In August and September of this year I was privileged to be include in the first class for the APICS Certification in Logistics, Distribution and Transportation in Denver Colorado. This class was my introduction to this discipline. The instructors were knowledgable, helpful and dedicated in getting the subject matter across not just to pass an exam but on how to use this information to improve a business. Even though this is the first of it's kind class in Colorado and was also pretty much my introduction to Logistics, Distribution and Transportation it provided me the knowledge and insight to pass the certification exam on my first try.” Ken Fiore, CPIM, CLTD, Operations Manager, Custom Stone Etching, LLC
“The APICS CPIM classed taught by the APICS Colorado Chapter 81 was outstanding. The knowledge the instructors bring to each class made understanding the material very easy. Every detail has been thought through from how the classroom is set up to help people become engaged and to stay engaged during the class, to bringing in specific instructors who specialize in specific topics, makes this a fantastic learning environment. I believe I will have the competitive advantage when taking what I have learned from the classes and applying it to my career.” Mike Hansen, Receiving Coordinator, Air Methods Corporation “As both a career advancement tool or a current state of "best in class" refresher, CLTD is a must have for industry participants. When
enrolled in the CLTD training course the participants can easily attain a more complete understanding of the material and experience that
"Aha" moment again and again by applying real world examples to the course material.” Christopher “Kit” Childers, CLTD, Global
Supply Chain Professional
“I highly recommend the CLTD offered through AICS to any supply chain professional interested in furthering their
career. This course offers extensive review of the entire logistics networks, distribution strategies, and supply chain connectivity from
demand and supply planning.” Stephen Robles C.P.M, CPIM, CSCP, Director of Materials & Warehouse Operations, Hunter
Douglas
“I took the APICS CPIM class while preparing to restart my career in Production Planning after seven years of
break from Supply Chain Management. The production and inventory management concepts and strategies were taught by
instructors with immense knowledge and experience in the field who also shared real life examples. This, along with my
interactions with the fellow students holding different supply chain positions helped me to gain a deeper understanding, and a
good exposure to the current challenges in the field. I found a job in Production Planning soon after the classes were
completed. The company I’m working for now is in the process of implementing a new ERP system, and the concepts that I
learned in the CPIM class helped me to grasp many aspects of the job and the ERP system easily. I believe that the CPIM
training enabled me to find a job faster than I’d expected, and gave me a smoother transition back in the supply chain field. I
would highly recommend this course for anyone interested to advance their career in supply chain management.” Jeena Alex,
CPIM, Production Planner, IMI Precision Engineering

APICS provides five books and an online portal specifically for the CLTD class with all the necessary material and practice tests. There were many participants in the class from different industries and various areas within their companies so it was a great platform to learn from other’s experiences.
