decided to take visit a SIDHEE CEMENT at SIDHEEGRAM,

SUTRAPADA, dist- GIR- SOMNATH (GUJRAT)

J.S.Makadiya to guide us about the practical knowledge of

cement manufacturing plant.

G ENERAL INFORMATION

Cement Industry Description:

Cement is one of the basis in the modern construction works. Cementis a binder and its origin is Mesopotamian from the third millenniumBC and is based in lime. After that Romans make cement in a largescale with pozzolona rocks (volcanic).

Currently the main part of cement (Portland cement) is made fromcalcined limestone. In a second phase calcined limestone (Clinker) isgrinded and mixed with other ingredients to make the finishedcement.

There are two main processes in cement manufacturing:

-Clinkerization process:To transform the limestone into clinker(calcined-limestone)-Grinding process:Clinker is grinded and is blended with a smallamount of gypsum to make finished cement.

Other kinds of cement include Slag-cement or pozzolana cementwith Ground-Granulated Blast Furnace Slag and Pozzolana volcanicrocks respectively.

PURPOSE OF VISIT

Our main purpose for this visit is to be familiar with industrial

environment and to get practical knowledge of Cement manufacturing

plant. Also in 4th semester subject like Concrete technology subject

requires knowledge about how cement should be manufature, so it is

very much convenient to see all the practical and components in real

time work environment.

WHAT WE LEARN?

On 24th February 2018 , at 10:00 am we reached at

SIDHEE CEMENT Sutrapada. We started the visit from mine of

comapnay from where raw material is used, and than we visited ,

Cement SILO, KILN, Crusher, lay out plan of cement plant ,Lime-

stone Storage,Packing Plant, Way-Bridge.

INFORMATION OF MINING AND PLANT:-

Location Village : Morasa - Vavdi Tehsil : Sutrapada District : Gir Somnath State : Gujarat

1) Mining Lease Area & Type of land:- Total Mine Lease area is 93.1407 Ha.

CONCLUSION

From this visit, we get the information and knowledge aboutthe components of cement plant and manufacturing ofcement. Students got very clear idea about the importance ofdifferent components of cement plant.
