GREATER DAYTON CORVETTE CLUB (GDCC) Minutes – October 19, 2016

President Freddie Haugh called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Thirty members were in attendance. GUESTS:

The club welcomed back Fred and Mel Farnsley from Cincinnati who own a Shark Red 2016 Sting-Ray.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Freddie said that Jerry Schlatter is stepping down as GDCC’s Ambassador to the National Corvette Museum. Tom Brooks has graciously agreed to take over this position.

VICE PRESIDENT Freddie called for the following committee reports in Bob Haugh’s absence:

SECRETARY’S REPORT Doris Murph moved that the minutes from the September meeting be accepted as written; seconded by Carol Tavener.

TREASURER’S REPORT Herbie Smith provided the report.

SOCIAL Rob DeLorenzo recapped the following for Peg: October 22: Hammel House Dinner and Tour, Waynesville OH. Hosted

by Larry and Terri Kopa. November 12: Dinner out at T.J. Chumps, 1100 E. Dayton Yellow

Springs Rd., Fairborn. Hosted by Dan Gorby and Donna Tucker. E-mail Donna at [email protected] by November 7 if you would like to attend.

November 20: Wine tasting and silent/live auction to benefit the Neil and Willa Jean Smalley Children’s Dyslexia Center from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Masonic Home, 525 Riverview, Dayton. Cost is $25.00 per person. This is a charity that Walt Barner is involved.

December 3: Annual banquet, Presidential Banquet Center. Cost is $60.00 per couple. More information to follow.

MEMBERSHIP:

Carol Tavener reported that we have 124 members.

She also has the static cling GDCC logo available for $5.00.

Membership dues are $50.00 and are due by January 2017.

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

Bob Sledge has posted pictures from Boris’ racing and the Restoration Station color tour on the GDCC Facebook page.

He also received 4 cd’s of pictures this evening.

EDITOR/ WEBMASTER:

No report. NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM (NCM) AMBASSADOR:

Tom Brooks stated that he is awaiting approval as the GDCC Ambassador by the NCM. Once approved he will receive NCM updates and information.

Old Business

Freddie asked that members to bring items for the silent auction at the annual banquet on December 3.

Judy Smith has t-shirts from the cruise-in available for $20.00. New Business

Freddie said that approximately 229 Corvettes were in the Restoration Color Tour.

She also reminded members that nominations for 2017 officers will occur at the November meeting.

Dan Gorby said that on November 11 there will be a breakfast for on-site residents at the VA in Building 305. Cooking beings at 6:00 a.m. with serving of breakfast at 7:30 a.m. The breakfast will close at 10:00 a.m. so veterans can attend a Veteran’s Day presentation at 11:00 a.m. in the main building. Skyline Chile will provide a free lunch. Anyone who would like to volunteer their time to help is welcome. Judy Smith motioned that $250.00 be donated for this event. Seconded

by Doris Murph. Motion carried.

George Frymyer conducted the 50/50 drawing which was won by Rob DeLorenzo: $35.00. Carl Durbin motioned the meeting adjourn; seconded by Jay Robinson. Meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted Terri Kopa
