Woodrow Wilson (1913 - 1921)

January 16, 1920

-“The 18th Amendment to the Constitution, ratified in 1919, had banned the manufacture and sale of “intoxicating liquors,” and at 12 A.M. on January 16, 1920, the federal Volstead Act closed every tavern, bar and saloon in the United States.”

Al Capone was in power during the heights of prohibition in Chicago, Illinois.

By 1920 the KKK had grown to number around 100,000, and two years later reached over 4 million.

The Right to Vote!

As of August 18, 1920, all women, black, white, native, chinese etc, could finally have the right to vote. 50 years after black men could vote.
