Welcome to our Annual Bull Sale.

This is a great time for the Charolais breed. Calf prices are high and there’s an even larger demand for Charolais –cross cattle in the sale ring.

Why should you buy your next herdsire from A. Sparrow Farms?

Our cowherd is in its prime. We are most proud of our females for their feet, udder type and easy-doing ability. They are performance cows and the “base” of A. Sparrow Farms. You can view the mothers before or on sale day. You won’t be disappointed.

Our bull power is just as strong. We have found bulls that can give us efficient birthweights and still offer tons of performance. We also have bulls that aren’t used anywhere but in our herd….exclusive genetics! Our herd sires are replicas for what we are looking for in our bulls….hair, sound structure and temperament are all factors along with things that you can only measure in time like calving ease and vigor. These things are all monitored carefully because if it doesn’t work for us, it won’t work for you.

This years’ offering of bulls is easily the most consistent and uniform group to date. They are certainly a reflec-tion of our more than forty years of breeding Charolais cattle.

Please come early for lunch and plan to stay afterward for socializing and a barbeque. It would be our pleasure to provide you with some hospitality!

The Reference Sires...LANZA

Lanza

Turning into a legend, Lanza started off as a bull that we purchased to clean up on our cowherd to becoming one of our top herdsires. We purchased him in 2008 from WinnMan Charolais. Later, we sold an interest of him to Lindskov –Thiel Ranch in South Dakota. We have used him as our main heifer bull for the last three years. You’ll note in this sale offering that the Lanza progeny offer a lot of perfornmance! There’s not too many bulls that can offering calving ease and performace! Top that off with thick, curly hair, large scrotal and sound feet….the Lanza’s have a lot to offer! To date, we are very pleased with the Lanza daughters and they continue to impress us in the mothering department!

When we found Latoro in the Montana mountians over eleven years ago, Latoro became one of our best herd bulls that have ever walked our pastures. After he passed away we decided to look for another “Latoro” and new genetics. We found Nuevo. Nuevo came from Cobb’s 2008 spring bull sale; his mom at the age of twelve was still in production. Nuevo gives bull calves a thick, curly coat, large testicle size and high performance.

Our second high seller from our 2009 bull sale to Beck Farms is another bull we are breeding to Panama. We flew to Australia in 2006 to find new genetics and came home with sire Lopez. Lopez genetics add a lot of natural thickness, easy doing and ruggedness we like to see in our bulls. Panama was the son we felt had all this and had the power of one of our best cow families. The mother is a perfectly uddered female which we hope will make Panama daughters that much better.

For years you’ve heard us rave about the Latoro influence. Without any doubt, Latoro has made the greatest impact in our breeding program. We are very pleased with our newest addition…the polled son, Birmingham. The Birmingham bull is extremely easy doing and always looks amazing. He offers the Latoro performance while is proving to be an easy-calving, moderate birth weight bull. We are really looking forward to his daughters coming into production. We have some pretty big expectations!

CML Diablo: Raised by McLeod Livestock. Diablo was sired by Sparrows Sanchez and was named 2012 Champion Bull at

Denver Stock Show.

CML Encore 4Y: Raised by McLeod Livestock. Encore is another Sanchez son and was named Champion Bull 2012 at

Fort Worth Stock Show.

Congratulations to Cornerview Charolais, Ontario who captured both National Champion Female and Reserve National Champion Bull with progeny sired by Sparrows Coach.

Sparrows Hombre 355X, a Sparrows Eldorado daughter, was Junior National Champion Female at the Youth show held in

Our 2011 steers (four on the right) excelled at the Regional 4-H show! All our 4-H steers were out of Sparrow bulls and were

raised by Steve Harty – Bar Crossroads Ranch, Edam, SK.

Sparrows Landmark: Purchased in 2009 by Horseshoe E, Voegeli/Serhienko and Martens Charolais. Landmark definitely caused a huge buzz in the Agribition barns! His progeny topped

most of their classes and went on the dominate the championship divisions.

Terms:The terms of the sale are cash or cheque. Settlement to be made immediately after the completion of the sale, payable at par to A. Sparrow Farms Ltd. The right ofproperty shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements mustbe made with the clerk before any cattlewill be released. All monies are inCanadian Funds. A. Sparrow Farms reserves the right to in-herd semen use on all bulls sold through the sale.

Bidding:Each animal will sell to the highestbidder... no by-bidding will be permitted.

Disputes:Bidding will be reopened between theparties involved in dispute. If no furtherbid is made, the buyer will be the personfrom whom the auctioneer accepted thelast bid. The auctioneer’s decisions on alldisputes will be final.

Announcements:All announcements made from theauction block or on the weigh sheets will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee – BULLS:Semen check will be done in April unless the buyer requests it to be done earlier. If your bull does not pass his semen check the buyer will be refunded their money and will be replaced with another bull. At the end of the season the bull will then be returned to A. Sparrow Farms.Should any bull fourteen (14) months ofage or over fail to prove a breeder afterbeing used on females known to bebreeders, the matter shall be reported inwriting to the seller within six (6) monthsfollowing the date of purchase or six (6)months after the bull has reachedfourteen (14) months of age. The sellerwill have the right and privilege of six (6)months of age to prove the bull a breeder.No guarantee is given that semencollected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee:In cases where the animal is subjected toany hormonal or surgical reproductiontechniques after the sale, this guaranteeshall be null and void.

Certificate of Registration:Each animal will carry papers issued bythe Canadian Charolais Association. Acertificate of registry duly transferredwill be furnished to the buyer for eachanimal after payment has been made.

Health:All animals in the sale have met allnecessary health requirements.

Liabilities:All persons attend the sale at their ownrisk and the seller and sale managerassume no liability, legal or otherwise, forany accidents that occur.

Mail Bids:Bidders unable to attend the sale mayphone, wire or mail their bids andinstructions to the sale manager,auctioneer or special representative. Bidsmust be received in sufficient time priorto the sale.

Delivery:Free delivery to Saskatchewan, Manitobaand Alberta. Other destinations will be atshared cost.

Insurance:Insurance will be available sale day. Westrongly recommend that insurance ispurchased for full value. A. SparrowFarms will pay for 2% of your insurance. All bulls left after the sale must be insured.
