A  Small  Budget  Doesn’t  Mean  a  Small  Event!

One  of  the  most  stressful  aspects  of  organizing  an  event  is  the  budget.  In  fact,  the  total   amount   of   the   fees   for   catering,   renting   the   venue,   decorations   and  entertainment  can  be  staggering  -‐-‐-‐  well  in  excess  of  the  budget  you  had  set  for  yourself.      Here   are   five   tips   to   remember   that  will   help   you   save  while  making   the   best  possible  plans  for  your  event.        What  do  you  envision  for  the  event  of  your  dreams?      Make   a   list   of   everything   you   would   like   to   have.   Don't   leave   out   anything.  Include  every  little  thought  or  concept,  even  if  you  think  it  sounds  far-‐fetched!      You're   in   your   brainstorming   session,   so  make   it   count!  Obviously,   you   cannot  use  all  your  ideas,  but  putting  them  in  writing  gives  you  the  plan  for  your  perfect  event  and  provides  a  starting  point  for  organizing.      Will  the  theme  be  Black  and  White,  80's,  Walt  Disney,  World  Cuisine?    Now,  you  need  to  work  with  your  list.  Group  your  ideas  by  circling  them,  and  use  a  specific  color  for  each  group.  You’ll  quickly  realize  that  in  your  brainstorming,  two  or  three  themes  stand  out.  So,  choose  the  theme  of  your  event  and  eliminate  anything  that  does  not  go  with  it.      This  step  is  the  first  step  in  creating  the  atmosphere  of  your  party.  In  addition,  it  establishes  the  basis  of  what  you  need  to  buy,  according  to  your  budget.      A  planning  session    Find   as   much   information   as   you   can   from   the   experts   and   through   research  tools  such  as  the  Internet.      Start  by   finding   the   right   venue  and   the  providers   you'll   need.  Compare  prices  and   services   provided   to   ensure   a   good   quality/price   ratio.   Then,   consider  seeking   the   advice   and   suggestions   of   your   associates.   Finally,   talk   about   your  event  and  look  for  sponsors!      The  details!    At  this  point,  you  will  typically  have  a  good  idea  of  how  your  event  will  unfold.  So  it's  time  to  take  care  of  the  details:  decorations,  entertainment.    Also,  remember  to  divide  your  theme  into  subcategories.

For   example,   if   you   choose   "Hollywood,"   a   subcategory   could   be   "the   stars."  Another  could  be  "models."  This  gives  you  ideas  for  decorating  your  venue  and  for  entertainment.        Being  well-organized  =  savings  for  your  budget    Be  very   specific   and   strict   in  organizing  your  event  and  your  purchases.   If   you  build  a  list  as  you  are  organizing,  make  the  same  type  of  list  for  your  purchases!    Stick   to  your   list,   and  don't  get  distracted   in   the  store.  Also,  be  sure   to  shop  at  specialty  stores  that  will  be  able  to  give  you  better  advice,  and  do  not  hesitate  to  shop  at  many  stores.
