This is Vijay Uniyal. I am from Uttarkashi and currently working in Chandigarh. Its an immense pleasure to be a member of this forum. I have fascinatinglove for Himalaya. I love trekking and have completed number of treks. Gomukh, Kedarkantha, Shrikhand Mahadev, Churdhar are some of them. Seeing t

Tlogs of other members, I too had a strong urge to write my own. I have done a number of trips but it was difficult to select the one to pen down. Well, didsearch for Dayara and didnt find a related post. So friends here comes my first ever Tlog. Comments and suggestions are most welcome!The month was January year 2010. I was enjoying my vacations at my hometown, Uttarkashi. Luckily one of my college friends (Vivek) was also there on

vacations. We met on Saturday and finalized our single day trip to Dayara Bugyal.

Vijay, you are from my dream town, Uttarkashi !!Now start with the log. I went to Darwa Pass in Dec end & was able to see lotsa snow on Dayara from distance !!

Thnx all for your kind welcome. Here is the rest of the log..

Route for Dayara: On Road: Uttarkashi --> Maneri --> Bhatwari --> Raithal (38 Km total) then Trek: Raithal --> Dayara (9 Km)

We had planned to leave early as had to return the same day but couldnt due the near zero degree temperature outside and the cozy blanket. Vivekreached my home at 9:00 on his scooter ( Humara Bajaj ). I had one parantha and started our journey at 9:15. Initially Vivek drove the scooter the first

10-12 Km. I took the command thereafter. We took a couple of breaks till Maneri to warm our fingers (didnt have gloves). We reached Bhatwari at 10:30and took a tea break and enquired about Dayara. The road condition was ok till Bhatwari. After getting information we paid the bill and decided to havelunch at Raithal. Road from Bhatwari to Raithal was very good. We met snow 1-2 Km before Raithal. We reached Raithal around 11:15. There were not

many shops there and most of them were closed. The only open shop had only tea, biscuits and chips; shopkeeper advised us to start the trek early in themorning. We took 4-4 packets of biscuits and chips. We parked our scoter there and stated our climb at 11:30. We decided wherever we will reach at 15:0

we will return from there as we did not have enough time.

As we were moving further up views were becoming awesome. After 2-3 Km snow started becoming thicker. It was virgin snow and soon it was becoming

difficult to find the path. We did not have protection for shoes so didnt want it to be wet. Mid of the trek we found few huts but no one was there. Aftercovering few more Km dark clouds started gathering. At 15:00 we were still 2 K.M short. We decided to move further. Just 1 km before we took a wrong

path but fortunately it was not too long. The path till Dayara is well marked but this time most of the part was covered by snow. We reached at Dayara at15:45. I was speechless to see beauty of this place.

We want to go further to top but did have time and clouds were also getting darker and I was having feeling that snowfall can start any time. We do not

want to leave this place but we have to. At 16:30 we started the trek down to Raithal. On the way we took a 15 minutes break and burn some dry leaves twarm our body. We reached Raithal at 18:45 and by the time it had become quit dark. We had tea there and soon started our travel for Uttarkashi. While

returning back to Uttarkashi there was some strange problem with the scooter. Whenever I was applying leg break its headlight was going off. Few times itgave me scared at the turns. Finally we reached Uttarkashi at 21:15 P.M. with tired body and runny nose. All in all it was wonderful experience.
