Calendar of Events Descriptions:

Here it is the start of September and it has been a hot summer for all of us. I have traveled to many places in the last few months and enjoyed the rallies I attended since being with the RT family is so much fun no matter where we camp together.

I have camped at places with tent (some perhaps homeless) and Class A sized RVs and I realize more each day how fortunate I am to be part of this lifestyle and hope to keep doing it for a long time. I am suddenly being philosophical as the election for our chapter approaches since I’m a candidate (again) and think about how this Presidential office affects me. Many of you have signed up to attend our Chapter rally in Goshen and I know that will be another great time. There are so many rallies to choose from that I certainly hope you all take the opportunities that are presented. Please look at the Master Rally calendar and use that as a guide while planning your trips. The recent FMCA bylaw proposal about adding ‘towables’ to the organization is a good one. You will see the definition in the magazine and be asked to vote. Adding towables will grow FMCA (and keep our dues and benefits healthy) and will NOT affect Roadtrek International’s membership. Each chapter will be able to choose if they will allow them and being an ‘exclusive’ RT group, we will not change. Stay safe and healthy and see you on the road.

The results are that the Directors approved allowing towables which means the membership will be vot-ing to make this change. FMCA’s 96th International Convention in Indianapolis in July was well attended. There were about 35 Roadtreks, part of the total 1,477 coaches, plus 247 vendor coaches. The Roadtreks parked together and enjoyed social gatherings each afternoon. It’s always a pleasure to meet other Roadtrekers and to renew acquaintances. Jim and Chris Guld, aka Geeks on Tour, now own a Roadtrek, parked with us, and joined our social hours when they weren’t leading seminars. There were 120 seminars covering a multitude of topics and vendors with a large variety of merchandise for sale. Many new coaches were available to peruse. Nighttime entertainment featured William Florian, Pamela G. and Jackie B., and Cirque-A-Palooza. The Board of Direc-tors elected in new officers and approved the idea of allowing towa-bles to join FMCA. Members will vote on the idea this fall. If approved, towables could begin joining FMCA in December of this year. Out-going president, Charlie Adcock, welcomed newly-elected president, Jon Walker. Our Roadtrek International Chapter Rally will be in Goshen, Indiana, on September 11-15, 2017. A rally is scheduled at River Vista RV Resort, 20 River Vista Drive, Dillard, GA, on April 24-27, 2018. If you are interested in hosting a rally or R&R in our region, please step up and volunteer. Contact one of the VPs with your ideas. We will be glad to assist with plans. Re-member, you don’t have to do it alone; choose others to work with you. And, you know we depend on volunteers to continue to function. Safe travels and “Keep on Trekkin.” See you in Goshen!

VPs: Robert & Carol Kroah, 779 Atwood Dr, Tallmadge, OH 44278-1157 (330) 633-6986, [email protected] David Bennett, 9590A Wilkshire Blvd, NE, Bolivar, OH 44612-8474, 330-204-8876, [email protected] By the time you receive this newsletter the 2017 Chapter Rally will be in progress or just completed. If you did not attend this year I urge you to attend at least one in the future. It gives you a more complete picture of RTI. The business meeting is open to all the members. You are represented by your regional VP who has voting privileges. Plus there is plenty of time to have fun, too.

Terry Whitesell will be having her Awesome Autumn rally near Erie, PA, Oct 5-9. A relaxing and fun time as you decide what activities you wish to do and places to see.

Presently no region 4 member has stepped up to organize a rally for 2018. With all the great places to see in region 4 please consider having a rally, large or small. Just pick a date and campground in an area that you think others would enjoy exploring. Dave and we are more than willing to help you formulate your plans.

We are still needing someone to keep the region 4 website up to date.

REGIONAL NOTES

By the time you receive this newsletter we will have returned from a short trip to Missouri with two of our grandchildren to see the solar eclipse. We are hoping for a clear day. The Hansen`s, Region 6, and the Webb`s, Region 3, have joined together to plan a rolling rally beginning in Quebec City and con-tinuing around the Gaspésie Peninsula. It will be from May 30 – June 13, so mark your calendars if you would be interested in this trip. It will be a busy two weeks with many opportunities to explore, enjoy gorgeous scenery, try some new food, and spend time with fellow Roadtrekkers. Let`s have a great turn-out from Region 6 for the Chapter Rally in Goshen, Indiana and don`t forget the Cranberry Festival at War-rens, Wisconsin being hosted by David and Karen McGivern September 21 – 24. You can learn about growing and harvesting cranberries and enjoy a great weekend of food vendors, crafts, antiques, entertainment, and time to socialize with other Roadtrekkers. As always we are looking for Region 6 members to step forward and host a rally. In the meantime and until we see you down the road, keep it between the lines. -Rick & Janyce Hansen REGION 7 SOUTH CENTRAL U.S. Membership: 87 Includes the states of AR, KS, LA, MO, OK & TX. VPs: John & Phyllis Slaughter 407 Palomar Lane, Richardson, TX 75081-4414 (972) 644-9716 [email protected] or [email protected] & Jill Parker 804 River Elms Ct El Paso, TX 79922-2120 (915) 581-1419 [email protected] The fall 2017 rally “Cowboys and Culture” in the DFW area should be a fun and interesting rally. Go to the region 7 website http://region7rally.org for details and registration information. In the spring a rally is being planned for the Perryville, MO area. There are lots of fun and interesting things to do in the area. The Sojourn to SEMO Rally will be June 4-8, 2018. More information to follow in future newsletters. Add these dates to your calendar. We need rally leaders. Without volunteers we cannot have events. Please volunteer! If you have an idea or know of a place in region 7 that would be good for a rally or R&R for 2017 or 2018, contact your region VP’s who will mentor you through the process.

VPs: Terry & Carol Ryan 4442 Honeymoon Bay Rd, Greenbank, WA 98253-6322 (360) 320-0036 [email protected] As I write this, Terry and I are looking forward to visiting friends/relatives in Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois on our way to and from the Chapter Rally in Goshen, IN. As you read this, the Rally is either at the beginning, near the end, or just over….depending on when the News-letter is received. Speaking of the annual Chapter Rally: in Septem-ber, 2018, the Chapter Rally will be held in Coeur d’Alene, ID at Black-well Island RV Park. Since we have already had an inquiry….someone planning next year’s travels….seems like a “pitch” might be in or-der. There is much to see on this “side” of the U.S. August is a partic-ularly good month for the Oregon and Washington Coasts; the Olympic Peninsula; and the Pacific Northwest in general. Usually little rain, not hot (in the coastal areas at least). So, if you are beginning to make plans for next year, please consider the Chapter Rally in Coeur d’Alene Sept 10 -14 (4 nights). And, if you are at all interested in holding a rally, or have ideas for a rally, please contact us to help. -Carol & Terry Ryan
