Recently I was asked for a report of all first time freshman and new transfers.Select 2015 Fall. For Major, minor, select all.For Population, click first time freshman, and then hold down the Ctrl key and click New Transfer.Click Run report at the bottom. It will kick off the report automatically and open up the file in Excel. You can do your own filtering, etc. in Excel. If you need to brush up on your Excel skills, there are two other sessions offered today for Excel Advanced and The Basics.

Argos is now the main reporting tool used at BSU. Please Help!Do your parameters make sense? - For example, Graduate and First Time Freshman?Did you click inside the drop down box, to make your selection turn blue? Did you click the Get Data button? Is the icon still spinning? Your report may have a lot of data

We all make mistakesmake sure what youve chosen dont cancel each other out.

Did you actually click on the drop down you wanted? (Click here to bring up pic)

Some of the older reports dont have a get data button. These are just some helpful hints to keep in mind when youre working on the exercises.6Argos

Access to folders is based on your user security. The Blue icons are data blocks. Its a block of information. In our next example, its made up of student information. Some data blocks only have one report, others have multiple reports.

Student Address list by Term, LevelBecause of the many ways that address lists are requested,I created multiple reports to meet specific requests. For example: name, major, email; only contains those 3 fields.Seniors Address list was developed for the bookstore and only reports seniors name & home address. You could do the same thing by using excel to filter.8Banner IDGreetingFirst NameMiddle InitialLast NameAddressPhoneGenderAgeStudent ClassStudent LevelEmail

Student Address List

This report pulls all registered students for the parameters you have selected. (Click, to show fields now). This report has a variety of data in the output, which means you can use it for a variety of tasks.Need to mail Deans list students?Email incoming Freshman?Students from a specific city?By using the parameters on the dashboard and filtering in Excel, you can do all of these things.(Then talk about Examples of why/how they could use this report.)

9Students by min GPA and Credits

This report is great if you are looking to offer a scholarship or approach a Certain population of students who might be struggling. There are three reports associated with this 10Todays Tasks(Talk about requesting your own reports). Example if the example reports youve seen today do not have the information you need and youd like to inquire about reports that extract other specific information, you can contact the Banner group by sending an email to BANNER with the information youre looking for and IT will let you know if there is a report that would give you this data or possibly create a new one that does.

If you are looking for more complicated reporting structures bells and whistles youll benefit from attending the session Argos: Possibilities Theyll be showing some great examples of custom made reports.
