Overall Hiring Trends

The Naukri JobSpeak Index for January 2019 at (2,251), marked a 15% increase in hiring activity from January 2018 (1,951).In the month of January 2019, IT-Software industry noted a significant rise in the hiring activity, growing by 36% in comparison to January 2018. Also, Auto/Auto Ancillary industry saw an increase in hiring with a growth rate of 17%. Hiring in IT-Software and HR functional area recorded a year-on-year rise of 35% and 30% respectively. Hiring in Bangalore was up by 27%; likewise, Mumbai was up by 10% and Delhi NCR by 8%.

• Hiring activity in January 2019 saw a rise in hiring were Auto/Auto Ancillary (17%), BPO/ITES (13%), Banking / Financial Services (2%), FMCG (9%), Education(10%) and IT-Hardware (46%).

• Construction/Engineering and Pharma industry saw a dip in hiring of 7% and 4% respectively.

Functional Area Analysis: • An increase in the demand for jobs in various functional areas was observed in the month of January 2019

• The verticals that witnessed an increase in hiring activity year-on-year were - IT-Software (35%), HR (30%), IT - Hardware (29%), BPO (13%), Sales/BD (10%) and Marketing (2%)

City Wise Analysis

Demand for talent grew across metropolitan cities. Some of the emerging trends observed in the cities are elaborated below -

• Delhi/NCR: Overall hiring activity for the capital city grew by 8%. The industries which dominated the hiring space for the city were - Banking/Financial Services (33%), IT-Hardware (39%) and BPO (21%). The experience band that witnessed maximum hiring activity was between 4 to 7 years with a growth rate of 17%

• Chennai: The city witnessed a rise in recruitment activity of 24%. The rise in hiring was observed in industries such as BFSI (37%), Auto (36%), IT- Software (45%) and BPO (17%). The experience band of 4-7 years experienced a notable rise in hiring activity which was up by 32%

• Mumbai: Hiring activity for the city increased by 10%. Industries that observed a robust rise in hiring were IT-Software (30%) and FMCG (30%). The experience band of 8 to 12 years recorded a 16% increase in hiring activity in the city

• Hyderabad: Recruitment activity grew by 18% for Hyderabad in January 2019 vs January 2018. Industries which registered an increase in job creation were FMCG (10%), and BPO (14%) sectors. Experience Wise Analysis

• Hiring for a talent of 4-7 years of experience grew by 18% whereas recruitment for entry-level jobs which falls in the experience band of 0-3 years witnessed a rise of 16% in January 2019

• Recruitment activity for mid-management roles of 8-12 years of experience grew by 13%, while senior management roles of 13-16 years of experience recorded a 2% rise in hiring

• Leadership roles with experience band of 16+ years remained largely flat with a slight increase of 1% in recruitment activity

Naukri.com, India’s No. 1 job site and the flagship brand of Info Edge introduced the concept of e-recruit-ment in India. Since its inception in 1997, Naukri.com has seen continuous growth while outperforming its competitors in every sphere. Info Edge was the first internet Company to be listed in India. The site enjoys a traffic share of over 70% as per similar web. Naukri.com is a recruitment platform that provides hiring-related services to corporates/recruiters, placement agencies and to job seekers in India and overseas. It offers multiple products like Resume Database Access, listings and Response Management Tools. With more than 4, 75,000 jobs live at any point and over 60 million CVs, Naukri.com serviced over 76,000 corporate clients in 2017-2018. The company operates 56 offices in 42 cities in India and overseas offices in Dubai, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain.

The Naukri JobSpeak is a monthly Index which calculates and records hiring activity based on the job listings on Naukri.com website month on month. The objective of Naukri JobSpeak is to measure the hiring activities in various industries and the data is compiled of companies which are registered on the platform and reflects gross hiring (includes replacement hiring). July 2008 is taken to be the base with a score of 1,000 and the subsequent monthly index is compared with the data for July 2008. The jobs analyzed for the monthly Index are qualified on the basis of white collar, urban, belonging to organized corporate sector jobs with a main focus on service industries. The report shows hiring trends across industry sectors, geography, experience level and functional areas. More than 76,000 national and international clients use Naukri.com, leading to high reliability of data. The report does not cover gig employment, hyperlocal hiring or campus placement. Over a long period of time, the Naukri JobSpeak was impacted by the increase in the Naukri traffic share, internet penetration, Naukri pricing strategy and job listing drives.
