H.E Mubarak Saeed Al Shamisi is the Director General of ACTVET and the former Director General of ADEC. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (United States of America) and obtaining his Bachelor Degree of Art in Political Sciences H.E. Mubarak began his career with the Higher Colleges of Technology – Al Ain, in the field of Community Relations. Subsequently he became Dean of Students’ Services. In 2005, he further pursued his education, earning his Master’s Degree in Education Administration, major in Leadership and Management, from Queensland University of Technology (Australia).

In 2011, His Excellency Dr. Thani Al Mehairi was appointed the first Director General of UAE’s National Qualifications Authority (NQA). In 2013, the UAE Federal Cabinet appointed him as a Deputy Minister. In these roles, he oversees the implementation of UAE’s national qualifications framework (QFEmirates) and the development of the country’s VET sector. He draws on his extensive experience in educational environments and organisational leadership to drive NQA’s vision of having distinct national qualifications that enhance economic and social development for the UAE. His Excellency Khadem Al Qubaisi is the Managing Director of the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) since 2007. He is a Member of IPIC’s Board, Abu Dhabi, Chairman of NOVA Chemicals in Canada, Chairman of North American Plastics and Chemicals Group, Chariman of Borealis AG, Chairman of the Spanish Integrated Oil and Petrochemical Company (CEPSA), Chairman of Aabar Investments PJS, Chairman of Aabar Properties, Board Member at ChemaWEyaat and Chairman of Bahrain’s First Energy Bank.

Mr. Al Qubaisi is the Arabian Businessman of the year 2009 and ICIS Power Player of the year 2009. Holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics since 1993.

His Excellency Abdulla Nasser Al Suwaidi has been the Director General of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) since June 2011. He is a Board Member of the Abu Dhabi-based Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC), in addition to several federal and local government organizations and entities. Al Suwaidi graduated as a Chemical Engineer from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the US.

Dr Anna Paolini is UNESCO Representative in the Arab States of the Gulf and Yemen and Director UNESCO Doha Office since September 2013. She was UNESCO Representative and Head of Office in Uzbekistan from 2007 to 2009 and later in Jordan. Prior to that, she held a research associate role at the Institute of Architecture of Venice, worked in restoration in Italy and carried out researches in the field of urban rehabilitation in several Arab and African countries. She holds a Master’s degrees in Architecture and a master degree in Urban and Regional Planning for Developing Countries, a post-graduate degree on Development Cooperation, as well as a Ph.D in Urban and Territorial Engineering In 1992, she joined UNESCO as specialist in the field of culture at the Regional Office in Amman. In 1997, she moved to UNESCO HQ covering several positions within the Culture Sector. Mrs. Paolini is a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the Italian Association of Professional Architects.

Prof. João Santos is currently Deputy Head of Unit in the Directorate General for Education and Culture at the European Commission, in Brussels. The Unit is responsible for Vocational Education and Training, adult education, and the Erasmus programme in various policy fields. Further Prof.Santos has worked on international relations covering the employment and social affairs dimension of the EU bilateral cooperation with China, the USA, and Canada, as well as on multilateral cooperation within the United Nations framework, on issues related to the Social Dimension of Globalization and the Decent work Agenda. Gerhard Bosch is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Institute for Work, Skills and Training (IAQ) at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. He is an expert on labour markets and has published widely in the areas of comparative working time, industrial relations, and vocational training, pay and employment systems. He has been adviser for the EU, the ILO and the OECD and led the German research team for the Russell Sage Foundation project on Low Wage Europe.

Professor Ursula Renold is the head of the division of comparative education system research at ETH Zurich. She is the former general director of the Swiss Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology and a former visiting fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her research interests include comparative education with a specific focus on vocational and professional education and training.

Denise Amyot is the President and CEO of the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC). In her role as CEO Ms. Amyot is the national and international voice for 130 of Canada’s publicly funded colleges, institutes and polytechnics, serving 1.5 million learners of all ages and backgrounds at campuses in 1,000 urban, rural and remote communities. Ms. Amyot has obtained a Master’s degree in Education and three Bachelor degrees in Biology, in Arts and in Education.

Mr. Tomi was the first person at a very young age to address representatives of 195 countries at the UNESCO Commission on Education on behalf of the world’s youth. Over the years he has represented Finland for UNESCO at numerous prestigious conferences.. He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in International Relations, University of Tampere, Finland.

Maryam Abdulaziz Khansaheb is the current Emarati Youth Delegate to UNESCO. She has represented the UAE in the 8th UNESCO Youth Forum where she acted a rapporteur and helped draft the recommendations that were presented at the 37th UNESCO General Conference. She has also participated in a leadership program in Al Maktoum College in Scotland. She is a chemical engineering student at the American University Sharjah where she is currently the student leadership program and community services representative in the Student Council.
