Three ways to become a more valuable and effective employee!

UCI Division of Continuing Education, Irvine Valley College and the Irvine Chamber are partnering to deliver a series of programs to help YOU improve the skills that employers consider so valuable – business writing, communication, presentations, teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

October/November 2016: Communication in the 21st Century Workplace – learn verbal and non-verbal communication skills, how to manage generational, gender, age and cultural differences, improve competence in team building, interviewing and the situational use of multiple technology platforms.

• Online course opens October 24 (30 days to complete); hands-on Chamber workshop planned for Saturday, November 19.

February 2017: Business Etiquette & Effective Workplace Behaviors – learn how to master basic business practices and presentation skills that will improve your ability to influence and perform; navigate the demands and expectations of a fast-paced and evolving workplace; explore a variety of workplace cultures and test your abilities to adapt.

• No online course work available; hands-on, in-person Chamber workshop planned for Saturday, February 18, 2017.

March/April 2017: Effective Problem Solving and Decision Making – learn how to evaluate individual and organizational situations and scenarios; test your assumptions and gain confidence in tackling problems, developing alternatives and assessing solutions and risk; improve your decision making capacity.

• Online course opens March 13 (30 days to complete); hands-on Chamber workshop planned for Saturday, April 22.

• Complete the online Coursera course work within thirty days of course opening date.

• Participate in a four-six hour, hands-on mentoring and tutoring workshops conducted by successful business people and company executives who will evaluate, coach and help you polish your skills in these essential skill sets.

Cost of Career EdgeThe online Coursera course work is FREE. If you want a Coursera certification there is a $35 fee. The hands-on Chamber workshop which accompanies the online coursework is $10. When you register for these programs, you will be asked for a $10 fee. When you complete both the online coursework required and attend and complete the Chamber workshop, this $10 will be refunded!
