Faith Formation News

Registration for new and returning students is ongoing. New students can be registered using the blue forms found in the atrium and vestibule. If your family is new to the Faith Formation Program, please register in person with our Director of Faith, Kathi Bonner, [email protected] or 860.658.4737. Families who already have children in the program do not need to meet in order to regiser a new student. All classes begin on September 15th. CALENDARS: The 2019-2020 Calendar for Grades K-8 is on the website and was emailed home in May. The 2019-2020 Confirmation I & II Calendar is also on line along with important Parent Letters concern-ing events, meetings, and the October 20th Retreat at Holy Family. CATECHISTS! Save-the-date! On Sunday, September 8th we will have a Catechist Formation Brunch at 9:30 am with guest speaker, Mr. Kevin Dowd. Kevin is a dynamic and sought after speaker who will do a presentation for us filled with spiritual insights and practical hints for forming young disciples in the classroom. The Commission-ing Mass will follow at 11 am. This is an important and meaningful way to begin the Faith Formation year! Books are in! The books for Grades 2, 4, 5 & 6 are in the Library, stacked up by teacher and number of students. Please feel free to pick them up at your convenience.

Any free will offerings received will be exclusively for the care of the elderly poor who reside with them at St. Joseph’s Residence in Enfield. The Little Sisters of the Poor have been serving the needs of the elderly poor in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts for over 100 years

SENIOR HIGH Thank you to all who came out on Friday for our summer barbecue and optional “lockdown” sleepover! What an amazing, albeit very hot, evening filled with fun, games and friendship. Shout out to the men’s club for cooking and their participation in our “waffle” ball competition, and to all the parent volunteer and chaperones. We would not have been able to hold this event without your support and participation.

What an amazing week in Warrenbsburg, NY for a week of service with our youth ministry

teens on our Summer Mission Trip. You demonstrated courage, hope, friendship, compassion and perseverance. FRIDAY, AUGUST 2–5:30 p.m.-GET PUMPED TO HIKE TO HEUBLEIN TOWER/ICE CREAM AT J.FOSTER (SIMSBURY)–Please join us for a hike to the Heublein Tower and back, followed by ice cream at J. Foster. We will meet at the base of the trail in the parking area at 5:15 p.m. and start our 2.5 mile (round trip) hike at 5:30. Please bring a water bottle and good hiking shoes. The Heublein Tower Trail is located just inside the Talcott Mountain State Park entrance off of Route 185. While the hike isn't long, the first 1/3 of a mile is a steep incline that will get your heart pumping. If you are unable to hike with us, we will meet at J. Foster following our hike and you are welcome to join us there. All are welcome and bring a friend too! SAVE THE DATE: Fall KICKOFF Meeting–Sunday, September 8th in Russell Hall from 6–8 pm.
