Hi guys! My name is Burak Tingiz and in this article i will give you some knowledge about the famous city Paris. I was there a couple of months ago. Paris is known as the lovers city but that's not completly true. Because Paris is a little bit more simple than our thoughts. Basicly the city looks like a book, organized and simple. You can find anything or anywhere by using a map. MetroS, busEs, trams, there are too many ways to take a tour in the city. About love city thing I couldn’t be able to see a single lovely couple in the whole Paris. Okay I lied. Yeah maybe I have seen some people cuddling and kissing each other but that’s not the thing that they ta- ught us in movies. City is more like a fashion city. Boutiqes, shops, shoe stores.. Hi guys! My name is Burak Tingiz and in this article i will give you some knowledge about the famous

city Paris. I was there a couple of months ago.

Paris is known as the lovers city but that's not completly true. Because Paris is a little bit more simple

than our thoughts. Basicly the city looks like a book, organized and simple. You can find anything or

anywhere by using a map. MetroS, busEs, trams, there are too many ways to take a tour in the city.

About love city thing I couldn’t be able to see a single lovely couple in the whole Paris. Okay I lied. Yeah

maybe I have seen some people cuddling and kissing each other but that’s not the thing that they ta-

ught us in movies. City is more like a fashion city. Boutiqes, shops, shoe stores.. In every corner, too many

clothes for a single city even for 2,200,000 people.

Okay let's talk about culture. They are different from us it's a fact. They eat different dishes, they wear

different clothes, they relax themselves in different ways. But after all they even have a Turkish street. Tur-

kish dishes, Turkish cafes. Looks a bit like home.

In Paris there are some big ''gate's or as they say ''Arc''s are placed in on a line at the city . By this way

you can know where you are or where you are near to. But all that big fancy gates were not built by

using them as compasses it is a fact..

About French. I have'nt seen a terrible language as French in my whole life. I can't even count 1-2-3

and at the time Iwere there it was my job to calculate our expenses. It was really hard to understand a

Chinese men who speaks French. Yeah Paris is a multi-national city and most of these other people are

Chinese. Those people have everything in their hands in Paris. I am not joking. They sell clothes, they sell

meals, they have supermarket's and pharmacy's at there. But not at big street's like La Fayette or

Champs-Élysées. Those streets are still in the French territory. I guess Chinese people will have whole city

sooner or later.

About palaces and people. Most of the historical line is beautiful but expensive, expensive as 60€ for

a lift to top of the Eiffel Tower and expensive as 10€ for even a stair climb. If you take a walk to Louvre

Museum you will be free to walk but if you wanna go in you know what i mean.. All though people is

very nice and friendly. They know how to party if you know what i mean..

Well this my imperssion about Paris and French people. I'm not counting Chinese people that's a who-

le different conversation. They are really strange. Okay that's all from me.

To the leading edge... Toward being the best…:)

Hi everyone , now you are in the process of preparing university exam that will change your future

wholly.I know it is hard and feel how much burden is in your shoulders. If we think that it is easy you can

trick yourself easily. But in the end if you get the result that you want a period of years , it will satisfy you

much more than you think.Preparing exam is a hard challenge also choosing which university and de-

partment that you are gonna study is another one.You must keep your motivation high and believe in

yourself.

First you should set up your goals then hang it everywhere you

see.Me for example I did this in my third grade in high school.Still it is

hanging on my worktable.Consult your teachers , ask them which uni-

versity can be more suitable for me ? What are the conditions ? etc.In

my high school years I asked too much , maybe the english depart-

ment’ s teachers bored from me. ;)Set up a work plan that you will do

in your preparing year. But if you are the one who can not study by

having a workplan it is not problem.Everbody has their own style.Just

find it out.Make sure yourselves that you study enough to cover your

failures.Apart from these things don’t forget to do things that make

you happy for example watching a movie, hanging out with your fri-

ends etc.

Physical fitness is a general state of being healthy and well-being.Fitness is a kind of sport that makes

people healthier and stronger. Also fitness makes people's life longer.People do fitness for healthy life

and more self-reliance. Because everybody wants to see a good body when they look at the miror.

Physical fitness is generally achieved through correct nutrition exercise hygiene and rest.

Before the industrial revolution fitness was the capacity to carry out the day's activities without undue

fatigue. However with automation and changes in lifestyles physical fitness is now considered a measure

of the body's ability to function efficiently and effectively in work and leisure activities, to be healthy, to

resist hypokinetic diseases, and to meet emergency situations.

Nowadays fitness centers are widely available.People can take advantage of this centers. But this

centers are full of people who don't know how to do it.Because personal trainers in gyms are not quali-

fied to teach people how to do exercises correctly.

DANIADANIA

Ege: Who are you and where do you come from?

Dania: I am Dania Aldoulati , I came from Syria.

Emir: Why did you move to Turkey?

Dania: Actually I don't have a real answer about the question but I think that the

main reason is to complete my life without any persecution.

Emir: How was your life before coming here?

Dania: My life was awesome , I was learning, studying, playing and having fun. I was

living the real happiness.

Ege: With only three sentences, what do you say about Turkey’s social life?

Dania:-Turkish people like to help others.-Turkish people have a busy life full of work.-

But it is really easy to make friends because they are so nice...

Emir: Are you adapted to our standards, dis you face any problems? Dania: Actually I

kind of adapted because it is very hard to get used to a new different tradition. And

yes I faced some problems like there are some drunk people who walk in the street

which is really scary.

Ege: Can you compare our education system and Syria’s?

Dania: The education here is as hard as the education in Syria, and the teachers in

Syria are more friendly but here there are restaurants in the school, and there is a

break between every class and another, but it isn't as organised as in Syria.

Ege: Thats kind of interesting, it should have been hard with out breaks... Anyway, did

you make friends here easily?

Dania: Yes because they are very nice people, and friendly people.

Emir: And last question, did you have any concerns before coming Turkey, if so what

was it?

Dania: I was afraid that people will treat me according to my nationality, and I faced

some problems about that but not very much.

Ege & Emir: Thanks for answering our questions, have a nice day!

OMAROMAR

Ege: Hi! What is your name and where did you come from?

Omar: Hello! My name is Omar, I came from Egypt.

Emir: Why did you move to Turkey?

Omar: To lie with my father where he works in Turkey.

Ege: How was your life before then?

Omar: It was happy stable until the outbreak of the revolution of 25 January 2011 and

the situation became difficult because of the political conflict.

Emir: With only three sentences, can you tell about Turkey's social life?

Omar: Turkish people are authentic with the values and principles of the eastern

countries sanctify the ties of family and work. Most of the turks are friendly, but there

are a few are not welcome the foreigners.

There are similarities between the Turkish and Egyptians in a lot of customs and tradi-

tions.

Ege: Are you adapted to our country's standards, did you face any problems?

Omar: Yes, I am adapted to Turkey's standards, yes, a few problems because the lan-

guage.

Emir: So Omar we’ve just 3 questions more. Can you compare the education system

of your home country and Turkey?

Omar: The education system in Turkey is better than in Egypt, Egypt's education sys-

tem kills creativity due to the corruption of military rule.

Ege: Did you make new friends here easily?

Omar: Yes, and I am still trying.

Emir: Here is the last! What was your biggest concern before coming here? How did it

turn out?

Omar: OK. My concerns were events since the revolution under way, and I'm still

watching the news in Egypt and interested in practicing of sports and learning Turkish.

Ege: Thank you Omar! See you in the school!!

Omar: My pleasure!

Unlike the other universities Hacettepe welcomes its students in a very

warmly way.It shows its difference from the others. It starts for the freshmen

one week earlier to teach them value of being a student of Hacettepe

University.First day we had a class that all the freshmen were supposed to

be in it(About 400 students were in amphi-theater).It started with the con-

cert of Hacettepe Symphony Orchestra.Other classes were about suc-

cess, happiness and Hacettepe. To sum up they vaccinated the values of

Hacettepe to us at the beginning

İHSAN TANLAK – Istanbul University Industrial Engineering

First of all when I started this long marathon I didn't

have a program. Everyday I would randomly study

subjects. Later, after a while passed and ygs got

closer to finish all the subjects everyweek I finished

the subjects I had planned before. Made my plans

in weeks not in days. Biology was the most difficult

subject for me. Even though I liked the content me-

morizing it was difficult. I never looked at it after ygs.

In the prep times the most difficult months were De-

cember and January for me. I'm sure the ones who

continue their plan in these months will get one step

ahead. And my biggest mistake was studying for

ygs until ygs because at the start I didn't study. If I could reprep I wouldn't give ygs more than 3 months

because you will have to force lys into a month and that's not easy.

Don't ever get into desperation while studying this because you will have a lot of time that you can, no

need for rushing. (Translated by Arda Buğra Aydemir-12 F)

ECEM SERTBAŞ–

Istanbul University

Hello friends,

I know that you are going through a very

stressful period, I and a lot of my friends

lived the same situation last year as well.

Now you still have a chance that you can

consider. I personally can't say that I wor-

ked fully, and hard there was always so-

mething missing and they fly away in the exam. Truly I don't remember

being so excited in my life, It's really a different feeling. But remember

don't stay put to a single book, the more different questions you solve

the more better for you. Have a question limit for yourself and every-

day try to increase it. Be confident of yourself, don't lose your faith.

When the trips to the univercities start you will get motivated. Last year

when we came to Istanbul Uni. we all loved the school. We started thinking that if we could win this school.

Now I'm here. When you really want something and do everything you can for it, there is nothing in life that

you can't achieve believe me.Good Luck! (Translated by Arda Buğra Aydemir-12 F)

Ege: Hi! Can you introduce yourself to

our readers?

Sahra: My name is Sahra and I came

from Ukraine.

Emir: Why did you move to Turkey?

Sahra: I moved back to Turkey because

my mom was here and I wanted to study

here in Turkey.

Ege: How was your life before coming

from Ukraine?

Sahra: My life was pretty regular actually.

I went to school then after school I went

to my basketball practice. I used to

hang out with my friends quite A LOT.

Ege: Ahah, quite regular huh. With only

three sentences, can you tell about Turkey’s social life?

Sahra: Turkey is a country where people have very strong connections to eachother. I think it's the way of

character of Turkish. They have really strong friendships and family connections. People are very into sports

and as a sportswoman I really like it.

Emir: We all know that! Did you face any problems while adapting to Turkey?

Sahra: I didn't had to face a lot of problems actually since I have lived in Turkey for years before I left. But I,

as everyone who has lived in a foreign country, sometimes have things that doesn't make any sense to me

at all.

Emir: Can you compare the education system of Ukraine’s and Turkey’s?

Sahra: The education system is very different between Turkey and Ukraine. In Ukraine you don't have to

take any exams to get into a High School and the highest grade you get is 12. Also, you only take exams of

the subjects which are necessary for what do you want to study in university. Teachers are more strict and

they never communicate with you unless it's about their classes or about any homework.

Ege: Sounds so ideal to me! –ahahah- Did you make friends here easily?

Sahra: I made a lot of new friends and I made them so easily and that's not really something that I am

proud of :)

Emir: Did You have any concerns before settling here? If so how did it turn out?

Sahra: My biggest concern was not getting adapted. Because I thought craving would make it very diffi-

cult for me. It turned out that you get used to everything and after a while nothing affects you.

Ege: Thank you for your participatingi

FURKAN ÖZ - Trakya University -

Psychological Counseling and Guidance

Dear Mecidiyeköy Anatollian High School Students;

First, I send my love to all of you and wish luck to 12th grade students

who get ready for the university exam. One year ago, I was a high

school student just like you. I was a person who crawls between the

school-library-private course triangle, who makes his homeworks on

the bus, who doesn't have any social activity. My friends, never forget

that you can't do it without sacrifices, and never be hopeless. Especi-

ally, after YGS, the important thing is LYS! I was a Turkish-Maths student

and my YGS grade was

135.000. But I didn't give

up and locked myself in

the library. My LYS grade

was 33.000! Now I study

psychological counseling and guidance in Trakya University.

When I take a look at the past, all the tests I solved at the bre-

aks, books I read on the bus, days I spent sleepless... It is a

wonderful feeling to get the reward of your effort and seeing

your name on the school's board of pride.

Good luck to all of you. (Translated by Ayşe Karaman 12-F)

GENCAY ALLA– Gazi University

First of all , I want to introduce myself to you . I'm Gencay ALLA and

I graduated from M.A.L , some of you may remember me . I am

asked to write ''How did I study?''. And here are some hints for stud-

ying :

-Firstly , you need 'a plan' . If you're going to play games with your

friends , add this event to your list too. Plan everything so you can

easily remember what you have done or what you have not

-Second , you need to get the mood . You have to get the study

mood -yes I was also find it difficult at that time BUT you need that

mood. However If you're not in the mood , just dont study at that moment wait for an hour then try it

again.

-Third , begin the study ! Begin but seriously begin the study . Just remove your phones , remove them for

an hour , your friends may wait don't worry at the end of the high school most of you will seperate each

other and you will have more and more time to speak with them in the future.

But never ever don't take it so hard , just calm down . Because the key is make yourself calm down never

forget about that .

9

Page 10: A ONERT STORY: LADY GAGA

MÜGE ÖZTÜRK

To be honest I didn't cope with my program. I studied whatever I wanted that day. And the courses I go,

even though they put ygs and lys together they were making exams more ygs like so naturally I studied ygs.

I finished the subjects one by one solved tests about them still didn't get the grade I deserved, so knowled-

ge is not important in ygs. Personally I couldn't do because of my excitement even though I knew them all.

Later don't stop studying because of the aftermath of ygs that was one of the biggest mistakes. We get to

a school with lys but the mistake everyone is making is giving ygs all the time and having no time to study

for lys. Ygs subjects are easy, if I had spent the time I had spent on ygs on lys I could be in a better school

now. Ozgur teacher said it but we didn't listen, you should listen as he is right about whatever he says. I

think that the important thing is whether you studied truly. Solving hundreds of problems about a subject

you know won't work for you. You should focus on the ones you can't do, that you are missing. Because

these subjects that you are not good at will gain grades for you. To summarize make your own program,

for yourself but lys should be the more important one for you. (Translated by Arda Buğra Aydemir-12 F)

DEAR MECİDİYEKÖY ANATOLİAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS,

First of all preparing to uni cant happen while sleeping. i

missed having breakfast then. weekdays school and cour-

se on the weekend made me a stressed angry person. I

would get up early and carry a heavy bag to school.

textbooks testbooks whatever you’d like. Getting to course

on time was impossible after school. In the evenings we

would leave with the staff. We would close the door and

leave it to the guard. Sometimes we would stay there like it

was our home but it wasnt for sleeping it was for studying.

There were students getting in queue to ask teachers their

questions. iIwas never one of them maybe if i were i

wouldnt be studying economics instead of pdr. In the les-

son breaks I would solve tests while having conversations

and sometimes I’d say whatever just leave it. And we

would beg our teachers to plan the exam times. I would

think of skipping school exams but then the points school

gives would come to my mind. The school exams weren’t

different from the uni exam so studying for them would be

good for us but we didnt know it at the time. Last year pas-

sed like that. Now I’m studying economics in marmara uni and ı got the reward of my works. I travel a lot

and the day is empty for me after 1-2 classes. Words of my teachers in my ears: you will get the reward of

DERYA SARIKAYA DERYA SARIKAYA

Ege: Hello, who are you and where are you from?

Derya: Derya Sarıkaya is my name. Before I moved

to Turkey I lived in Holland, in the city Utrecht. That is

also the city where I was born and raised.

Emir: Why did you move to Turkey?

Derya: I moved to Turkey because of my sister. She

started working here and my parents didn't want

her to be alone in Istanbul. So we moved with the

whole family, except my big bro and the other twin

sis, they are still in Holland.

Ege: It must be hard for you!

Emir: How was your life before coming here?

Derya: My life was normal actually. But I figured out

that it was too normal. Since I'm in Istanbul, thats for

like 4 months now, I've seen, heard and lived so

much more than I did in Holland. My life before was

perfect and really fun because that felt like home

and because of a lot friends but living here is more

complicated what makes it more interesting.

Emir: This is Istanbul : )

Ege: With only three sentences, can you tell about

Turkey’s social life?

Derya: There is so much to do in Turkey. A lot of tou-

rist visit Turkey and thats a sign of who great the so-

cial life of Turkey is. Turkish people are very hospi-

table and that is why I'm adapted to Turkey so fast.

Emir: did you adapt to our country’s living stan-

dards, did you face any problems?

Derya: Like I said I've seen so much in this country

what was actually really weird at the beginning,

but I actually knew all these things because I came

regularly to Istanbul. But living here is so much diffe-

rent, so adapting took a little but I'm a person who

learns and accepts things easily so trying to adapt

to Istanbul wasn't that hard.

Ege: Okay that’s my favorite question, can you

compare the eductaion system of Holland and Tur-

key?

Derya: There is actually nothing to compare becau-

se in Holland there is just a whole other system go-

ing on. There is it more about understanding and

here is it more about doing a lot of questions in a bit

of time. In Holland its all about the capacity of a

student, in Turkey is every student equal to each

other. But in addiction to this it's actually fun to be

on a high school in Istanbul because we always

heard and saw things on tv but now I can experien-

ce it in person.

Ege: I think that’s a problem we have in Turkey right

now. Every single stundent should be qualified of

their interest, not of which ‘The System’ need.

Emir: Did you make friends here easily?

Derya: Yeah I did. I'm actually a person who easily

makes friends. At first I might be a little cold and

quite but I'm always friendly and I think thats the

reason why I'm able to make friends so easily. I'm

also very thankful for my friends here, they accep-

ted me quickly around them and made me one of

them.

İREM CETİN - Bahcesehir University

At the start of the year I

wasn’t aware of anything. Sud-

denly the classes in both

school and the course got he-

avier and I couldn’t handle it.

There was only one thing on

my mind : the exam. I wouldn’t

go out with my friends and

when I do I would think of the

questions I haven’t solved so it

took my time to get used to.

When I went to the courses I

would always ask teachers questions and stay there till 10. The best thing I did last year was this i think. I

would study the subjects in school and solve tests in the course and I would go to my home just to sleep

because when I was home I couldn’t concentrate. studying with my friends were more benefical for me.

Last year the biggest mistake i made was studying for ygs and leaving lys to a corner.when lys got closer

there were too many subjects to study and i panicked. while studying for lys i noticed rhat ygs and lys we-

re similar. the worst part for me was making the school choices .15 days is a short time for deciding what

we want to be. after a hard year year im in the school i want. (Translated by arda Buğra Aydemir-12 F)

While she was singing “Born This Way” took up a girl among the viewers to stage for sing

together but the girl didn’t say even one single word, Probably she did not know the lyrics

and this made me really crazy. And also she made a speech about gay rights playing pia-

no “I travelled the all over world and I know that in some places it is really hard to be

gay.Being gay doesn’t make you invisible,it doesn’t make you wrong because no matter

what god you belive in he loves everybody.” She said and asked to all gay fans to rise their

hands. Gaga changed ten outfits during her performance, and also took off her one dress

on stage and wear one another in front of the thousand just before singing one of her most

well-known hits “Bad Romance.” The concert took about two hours. And I was like in a dream

I was listening live the songs which I listen everyday on earnphones.I was so happy but it

couldn’t stopped me to crying while listening “Born This Way” and -unbelievably-”Paparazzi”.

Concert Day

I went to ITU Stadium at 12 a.m. for the concert 9 p.m. I had to wait there all day to be in best place.

The concert area was full of crazy little monsters and the university campus hosted thousands of delirious

GaGa fans, who created a feverish atmosphere to welcome the new QUEEN of POP. It was like para-

de.While waiting the gates open I met some

friends waiting in the queue we enjoyed the

sun and these unforgettable times. There was

fans who dressep up like GaGa and dance

same careography with her.Watching them,

singing and dancing with them was so funny.

The Gates were opened at 5 p.m. We sat

on grass at stadium to wait the opening act.

At 7 p.m. Lady Starlight showed up on stage

and played her DJ set.The stage because of the technical failure was just a part of the original stage

without catwalks. But it was still gorgeous. Most didn’t like the Starlight’s performance but actually I

enjoyed it. LADY GAGA appeard on stage at 9 p.m. -it's on time unlike the others-on two men’s shoulders

with golden wings and an artpop ball on her chest singing Artpop.Gaga performed a kind of “greatest

hits” set including “Alejandro,” “Applause,” “Poker Face,” “Born This Way” and “G.U.Y.” Gaga changed

ten outfits during her performance, and also took off her dress on stage just before singing one of her most

well-known hits “Bad Romance.”

UMUT RIŞVANLI

The phenomenal pop queen LADY GAGA was in İstanbul last autumn for her 2014 world tour: artRAVE

the ARTPOP ball.I had been waiting for that about 5 years. I bought my golden circle ticket 4 months ago

from the show date, started to wait. The İstanbul concert at the ITU

stadium was the first step of the European leg of her world tour. She

came to İstanbul with 144 member team- dancers, creative directors,

stylists and technicians.- and 21 tractors.

Arriving to İstanbul

She tweeted that she was on the road to İstanbul and HARD TO BELIVE SHE WAS REALLY COMING

There was a very energetic crowded in front of the airport and I was one of people who were

waiting at there to see her arriving. After 4 -hours waiting Gaga arrived at

stanbul’s Atatürk Airport at 19.00 on September 14 for her concert on September 16. She was welcomed

with great enthusiasm and tears at the airport, where she posed with her fans which made all people

suprised because unlike the other stars who came to turkey GaGa didn’t run away her fans or she didn’t

try to hide behind the guards. She signed the poster and albums which fans brought ,took photos with

them(I touched her hands). In short, 5 grammy award winning superstar managed to affect the all

crowded with her style and lovable attitude at the airport.
