Autumn is my favorite season. I was born in autumn and I was married in autumn. Every

season is a beautiful example of God’s amazing love if you look at it closely enough. Everything

we enjoy is a blessing from our Heavenly Father who loves us.

When we don’t pay attention, the world around us flies by. We miss the beauty of nature

unless we stop and take it in, even for a few seconds a day. We are so busy trying to get

somewhere or get something that we miss the blessings we have already been given.

The Holy Scripture in The Message version tells it very plainly: “If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think He’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do His best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” (Matthew 6:33 MSG)

Trusting in God’s love is not easy, though it should be. Our human nature tells us to

handle it, to do it, or to answer it. God tells us over and over in His Word that He has it

handled. He has already done it all and knows how to do it best. He has once and for all

answered the most frightening question in the world: “what happens when we die?”

In the book of John, Chapter 4, a woman who was drawing water from a well in the ground

asked Jesus once about the Living Water He offered. “Where do you get that living water?” Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Learning to trust in God is not easy, but it is SO rewarding. Lean on the One who loves

you and wants you to know Him better. He can meet your every need. Just ask!

Caterpillars Leaves are changing colors, trees are losing their summer fullness and are starting to look bare, and—

most important of all—we are enjoying the wonderful cooler temperatures! This is a beautiful picture of

nature changing to fit in with its environment. “But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward

man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us,

through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.” This is a beautiful picture of how God

saved and changed us!

Wow! October is full of birthdays in our class. We have four little friends who will be celebrating

their first birthday and then moving next door. Happy Birthday to Georgia, Josie, Ada, and Collin! The

Butterflies class is filling up quickly with our old friends. In the meantime, we welcome Avery, Robbie, and

Hannah to our class.

In His Service,

Mrs. Bernice, Mrs. Nicole, and Mrs. Paulette

Curriculum Corner

In October, we are excited to experience God through the stories of Moses as found in the book of

Exodus; to uncover the truth about dinosaurs, one of God’s mightiest creations; and to expand our expanding

imaginations through pretend play!

Several fire and smoke references throughout the book of Exodus (God speaking to Moses at the

burning bush, the Lord leading the Israelites by night in a pillar of fire to give them light through the desert,

and the glory of the Lord appearing to the Israelites like devouring fire on the top of the mountain) serve as

wonderful introductions to national Fire Prevention Week, which is October 9th-15th this year. At home we

encourage you to check your home’s smoke alarms and discuss fire safety as well. Safe is the first of our two

“Character Counts” traits this month.

While exploring dinosaurs through dance, play, and games, children learn that God made dinosaurs on

the sixth day of creation, the same day He made people, and were still living in the time of Job, as we see in

Chapter 40. When did some become carnivores? How did they survive the flood? The answers are found in

the Word of God.

Blood, frogs, gnats and flies, cattle deaths, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, Egyptian wailing, and a long-

awaited exodus...what an adventure for God’s people! Adventurous is the second “Character Counts” trait.

When the Israelites reached the Red Sea, God told Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it,”

and the Israelites crossed over as if on dry ground from the pursuing Egyptians. This month we emphasize

that God’s power is real and more powerful than any superhero imagined!

Butterflies Hello fall! It’s already the third month of school—this year is flying by! October is going to be an

exciting month as we will be welcoming Georgia, Josie, Ada, and Collin to our classroom from the Caterpillar

room. We will also be having a Spirit Week October 24th-28th with a theme every day. October 28th will be

our Harvest Festival from 10am-12pm. The children will participate in carnival-style games in the gym during

this time.

This month we will be learning about the color orange, circles, the letters D, E, and F, the numbers 4, 5,

and 6, dinosaurs, and pretending. Our Bible story is “Crossing the Red Sea”, and our Bible verse is Exodus

13:16. We are very excited about the new things we will be learning this month!

In Christ,

Mrs. Danielle and Mrs. Aretha

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. October is such a wonderful month! My favorite parts are the change in weather and the beautiful

colors! Bye, bye heat, hello cool weather! With the reminder of cooler temperatures, please make sure you

bring extra sets of clothes that are weather appropriate. We will be outside enjoying and studying the

changes that come with Fall, and we don’t want our little ones to be cold!!

We will be celebrating Grayson’s birthday this month on the 1st! Happy birthday, buddy! We are also

celebrating the return of our beloved Miss Nikki on October 3rd!!! Yeah!!!! :) The colors we will be discussing

are black and orange. We’re looking forward to a wonderful month!

Bumblebees Happy October! Where has time gone? It seems like just yesterday was the Bumblebees’ first day in

the class. This month is going to be jammed packed with lots of fun activities and projects.

"And all at once summer collapsed into Fall.” Oscar Wilde. I don’t know if you have noticed, but Fall is

finally here! Can I get an amen?!?! It’s one of our favorite times of the year. Fall is full of fun activities and

family time. It's a great time to make some great lifetime memories.

With fall in the air , we have some awesome activities and crafts planned for the month. We need your

help to get this done. We ask for each child to bring in one small pumpkin by October 4th. We would also like

to for two families to donate a large pumpkin to the class. If you are interested in donating the pumpkins,

please let us know. Thank you so much for all your help! We could not do it without you!

We have a new friend. Welcome, Lucy, we are so glad you are part of our class! McKenna turns 2 this

month! Our letters for October are C and D, and we are going to work on numbers 3, 4, and 5. The color of

the month is orange. This month’s Bible lesson is about the children of Israel crossing the Red Sea on dry

land. It will be a fun month of learning!

In Christ,

Miss Courtney

Crickets Wow, we can't believe it's already October! The year is already flying by and we have seen some big

changes in our little Crickets! This month, we will be learning about dinosaurs and playing pretend. Our shape

for the month is a circle and the color of the month is orange. We will be learning about "crossing the Red

Sea" for our Bible story! We are looking forward to seeing what this month holds!

In Christ,

Miss Kayla and Mrs. Ashley

Fireflies "For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under Heaven." Ephesians 3:1

It is now our favorite season of the year, fall!!!!! The fireflies class is in full swing and we are excited

for all of the fun autumn activities we have planned. We will have our annual Harvest Festival on October 28th,

and will do a pumpkin painting sometime this month to name a few of the fun things. Please remember to bring

in warmer clothes for your child's cubby as the season changes.

Our Funshine themes for this month are “Dinosaurs” and “Let's Pretend”. We will learn about the

letters D, E, and F. The numbers we will study are 4, 5, and 6, our colors are black and orange, and triangle is

our shape.

*Reminder* Please don't forget to check out our weekly lesson plan and newsletter on Funshine!! This

will have everything you need to know about your child's upcoming week.

Dragonflies

Welcome, Fall! What a wonderful time to admire God’s beauty! We look forward to the beautiful fall

colors and cooler weather. Remember as the climate changes to swap out clothing in your child’s cubbies!

Please view the Dragonflies wall on Funshine Online each week to see what we are doing in our classroom.

We wish a very happy birthday to Ms. Sheila (10/2) and Brantley (10/22) this month!

Ms. Sheila and Mrs. Sherry

Turtles Happy Fall Y'all!!! As the Turtle class "crawls into Fall," we will be participating in many fun learning

activities! We will be studying the changes of the new season and reading many books about Autumn. Our

Funshine themes for the month of October are "Dinosaurs" and "Let's Pretend." The children are really

enjoying learning through all their senses! Bible time focuses on "Crossing the Red Sea." We will also

supplement Bible time with accounts from the A Beka curriculum. We will continue on with our Funshine and

A Beka memory verses. Our alphabet letters covered this month include O, T, L, B, and N (recognition,

writing, and phonemic sound). Numbers 4, 5, and 6 will be our math focus. We will learn all the attributes of

the Circle and Triangle, also. The colors black and orange will be our special colors for October.

Two of our Turtles will celebrate their birthdays this month! Happy Birthday Katelyn on the 20th and

Jackson on the 22nd!!!

As you can see, we will be very busy learning with our friends! Please pray for us every day as we serve

the Lord here at Central Baptist Preschool!

4’s Kingdom Kitties Korner

Real knowledge is to know the extent of one’s ignorance. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His “righteousness, and

all these things will be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

In October we hope to bring our class into a better understanding of the love of God as evidenced in

the Bible stories we visit, in the beauty of Autumn, and in the friendships we continue to nurture.

Please remember to glance at the teacher wall at funshineonline.com which has replaced the teacher

weekly newsletter.

School wide activities to keep on your mind… Spirit Week will be the week of October 24th and the

Harvest Festival will be on Friday, October 28th from 10-12. You are all welcome! As everyone has different

thoughts on what is appropriate for their family…I’ll make it easy: CBCP’s focus is on the natural beauty of this

time of year and the bountiful blessings from our Provider. With that in mind, we trust your costume choices

will bring honor and glory to the Creator. No scary stuff! Just fun and silly! I would send in an extra set of

clothes for your child to change into just in case they become uncomfortable during the day. No one has to

participate in dressing–up for Spirit Week. Our Kittens will still have a great time at the festivities. Have fun

dressing your little one…there is so much fun in creative expression!!

School Age Program

God said, “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today.”

(Exodus 14:13). This month School Age will be discovering God’s amazing power and provision through the

stories in the book of Exodus, which are relevant for us today. In conjunction, we’ll explore God’s creatures of

long ago and now. On Tuesday, October 4th, we’re off to see locally-owned ponies up close. Next, on Thursday,

October 6th, the group travels to Lazy O Farm in Smithfield to visit busy barnyard, corn maze, hayride,

pumpkin patch, and more.

Seasonal Change: Making Observations

With the Five Senses

Fall brings change! With leaves turning colors, temperatures shifting and animals preparing for

winter, it’s the perfect time for children to use their five senses to build observation skills.

Observation will help to focus a young child’s interests, and also builds a solid foundation for

future learning and social skills. Using the five senses, observation can be practiced everywhere

your child goes!

Children begin observing and investigating their surroundings from the time they are born. Babies

quickly learn what sounds and textures signify nourishment and safety. As the child grows, so does

their investigative nature. Toddlers are always grabbing and touching to discover new things within

their reach. Preschoolers begin to mirror the adults in their lives as they start to organize their

ideas, communicate, and understand the world they live in.

Teaching young children about traditions (in the fall, our family goes pumpkin picking) and exploring

local, observation-rich places in the community (observing the leaves change color in the park) are a

part of seasonal change. Making observations a regular part of your routine will help children to

build their skill set, and their vocabulary!

So what can observations be?

What does the fall look like? The colors of the leaves changing. Geese flying overhead.

What does the fall smell like? Pumpkin pie baking in the oven. Leaves burning in the country.

What does the fall feel like? The bumpy surface of a gourd. The crunchy texture of fallen leaves.

What does the fall taste like? Apples from the farmers market. State Fair food!

What does the fall sound like? The crackling of a bonfire. The “shoosh” of leaves being raked.

Some ideas for places to explore seasonal change

include Farmers Markets and Local Farms, State

Parks and Playgrounds. There are also lots of

toddler-friendly activities that incorporate the

season and the senses!

Everywhere we go, Fall gives us spaces, smells,

sounds, new foods, and places to stop and

observe the changes of the season!
