"It was a case of leading by example. At Wendy's, MBA does not mean Master of Business Administration. It means Mop Bucket Attitude. It's how we define satisfying the customer through cleanliness, quality food, friendly service, and atmosphere." Dave Thomas got his G.E.D back in the 1990's, having dropped out of school when he was 15 years old. But he got his M.B.A. when he was 11 years and was baptized and began his journey of following Jesus. He truly took on the role of a servant, even though he was a multi-million dollar executive of a fast-growing restaurant chain. He said that Christianity was more than just a doctrine you talked about on Sunday morning. In fact, his advice was: "Live your faith. Don't wear it on your sleeve; roll up both sleeves and do something about it." Do you have an MBA? Is your attitude like that of Jesus? Are you rolling up your sleeves and doing something about your faith? Jesus washed the feet of His disciples. He didn’t mind doing the job of a servant. In fact, He said he came to serve and not to be served. He asked us to do the same. After He had washed the disciples feet, Jesus said, “I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.” I am afraid many people who call themselves Christian expect others to wait on them hand and foot. That is not a Mop Bucket Attitude. A Mop Bucket Attitude is one where we look to see where we can serve others and then serving them. I praise God for those I see who serve with a smile on their face, not expecting a word of praise from anyone except for the reward they know they will receive from their Heavenly Father, when He says to them, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” "For everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted"( Matthew 23:12). That is how you get your MBA. I pray if you don’t already have it, you will work on getting it. Pastor Duane

AUGUST 2017

As we have begun a sermon series on the book of Joshua, one of the topics we have looked at has been success. Dave

Thomas is one who we consider to be successful. The Promise Keepers web site posted an article about Dave Thomas

some time ago that really spoke to me as to how are to live in this world if we to call ourselves Christians. I am sharing

a portion of that article and then adding my two cents to it. I hope you enjoy.

Dave Thomas, founder of the Wendy's Restaurant chain, illustrates the learning value of humility in his book

WELL DONE: THE COMMON GUY'S GUIDE TO EVERYDAY SUCCESS. He writes, "I got my MBA long

before my G.E.D." He continues, "I even have a photograph of me in my MBA graduation outfit -- a snazzy

knee-length work apron. I guarantee you that I'm the only founder among America's big companies whose

picture in the corporate annual report shows him wielding a mop and a plastic bucket. That wasn't a gag" he

continues. "It was a case of leading by example. At Wendy's, MBA does not mean Master of Business

Administration. It means Mop Bucket Attitude. It's how we define satisfying the customer through cleanliness,

quality food, friendly service, and atmosphere."

Dave Thomas got his G.E.D back in the 1990's, having dropped out of school when he was 15 years old. But he

got his M.B.A. when he was 11 years and was baptized and began his journey of following Jesus. He truly took

on the role of a servant, even though he was a multi-million dollar executive of a fast-growing restaurant chain.

He said that Christianity was more than just a doctrine you talked about on Sunday morning. In fact, his advice

was: "Live your faith. Don't wear it on your sleeve; roll up both sleeves and do something about it."

Do you have an MBA? Is your attitude like that of Jesus? Are you rolling up your sleeves and doing something about

your faith? Jesus washed the feet of His disciples. He didn’t mind doing the job of a servant. In fact, He said he came to

serve and not to be served. He asked us to do the same. After He had washed the disciples feet, Jesus said, “I have given

you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”

I am afraid many people who call themselves Christian expect others to wait on them hand and foot. That is not a Mop

Bucket Attitude. A Mop Bucket Attitude is one where we look to see where we can serve others and then serving them.

I praise God for those I see who serve with a smile on their face, not expecting a word of praise from anyone except for

the reward they know they will receive from their Heavenly Father, when He says to them, “Well done, good and

faithful servant.”

"For everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted"( Matthew 23:12).

That is how you get your MBA. I pray if you don’t already have it, you will work on getting it.

Dear Friends,

Your church raised $ 909.91 ! As one of the nurses working at Transition Pregnancy Solutions, I get to see firsthand the

impact your support has on this ministry. Every week I meet with women who are facing unexpected pregnancy; many of whom

are considering abortion. Your support helps us offer these precious ladies the medical, emotional, & spiritual support they need.

THANK YOU for participating in this year's Baby Bottle Boomerang. Every dollar you raised is truly a blessing.

Dear Members of Ringgold Baptist Church,

help others.

Our deepest Christian sympathy to:

The family & friends of Mary Ellen Davis in her passing.

The family & friends of Louise B. Moshenek in her passing July 30, 2017.

The first time I drove to Ringgold Baptist Church, I nearly ran out of gas. I tend

to live on the edge when it comes to my gas tank and phone battery. I made it, and

began my audition for the position as pianist. I played hymns at random, one of

which was “As The Deer”. This song is one my favorites. It has such as beauti-

ful melody line and is the perfect setting for a text of longing and spiritual

intimacy. Over the years we’ve sung it many times on Sunday mornings and

the only thing better than playing and singing this song is doing so to the chorus

of voices from the congregation.

I play for God, but I also play for you, RBC. When I’m nervous I try to remove myself from the

equation. There is only serving God and serving you. I am merely the tool to be used or the medium of

choice. Playing for this congregation for the past 10 years means more to me that you probably know.

This church is my family and I love each of you. How many times have you reflected the attributes of

Jesus in your actions and words? One of my favorite memories from this church is when some of you

came caroling on my doorstep when I was only a few days away from delivering Eli. I was so overwhelmed

that I shall never forget that display of love. You’ve encouraged, advised, and given; this church is a

model of generosity and love for others. It’s been my pleasure to serve you these 10 years and I hope to

serve you for many more years to come! Leslie

WMU Highlights

THANK YOU Ringgold Baptist Church for your donations of school supplies which have been delivered to the local schools. Although the children will never know who gave the supplies, YOU will know that you helped someone with a need. Opportunities to serve the Lord by helping others in our local community:

• Volunteers are needed to pack the backpack bags on a weekly rotational schedule. Two or three people work together each week at the church during the school year to pack the bags. This usually takes thirty minutes to an hour and can be done during the day or in the evening. Men and women are welcome to help.

• Volunteers are needed to help at Kentuck Elementary School during the breakfast and lunch times. Come

join the nine volunteers from Ringgold Baptist who currently are in the cafeteria for approximately one hour each Tuesday morning from 7:50-8:30 AM and Wednesdays from 11:00-12:00 or 12:00-1:00. Mr. Shields, principal, welcomes the presence of our community churches to talk with and help the students. See our current volunteers (James & Linda Snead, Diane Foster, Betty Jo Foster, Madison Norris, Page Reynolds, Ravenna Hawkins, Suzanne Emerson, Frankie Gilbert) if you have questions as to what is done in this

ministry. September 3 will be the Ingathering for the Alma Hunt State Mission Offering. Our individual mission circles always welcome visitors and new members. The mission circles offer unique opportunities of fellowship and bonding in showing Christ’s love as we reach out to help others. THANK YOU for continuing to be a “WMU PARTNER” at RBC!

Suzanne Emerson, WMU Director

Our average Sunday School attendance at Ringgold Baptist Church from

July 2nd to July 30th was 97.60. During this time we had a total of 7 visitors.

Our youth class had two visitors and our children's classes had a total of five visitors.

Our current enrollment at Ringgold Baptist Church is 209.

Nursery Blessings!

This past Sunday there were toddlers galore in our nursery during church services. There were a few

meltdowns, but mostly these toddlers were simply wonderful. Special thanks to Raleigh Henderson for his

help this past Sunday. If you are interested in assisting with our growing nursery population, please stop by

the nursery or contact Sherry Shively.

Please pray for the continued growth of our Sunday School.
