“ASIA SHALL BE SAVED”A newsletter for Compassion for Asia Ministries

Dear family and friends

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Let heaven be declared through you. Release His goodness and His kingdom around you everywhere you go.

We are still working on reconstruction of buildings. Our priority is our largest Children Home (Mahima). Asish was finished a few months ago. Remember that until last September we could not reconstruct because of aftershocks of the earthquake, but finally Mahima Children Home is starting to take shape! We have reinforced the new brick walls to sustain bigger earthquakes. First and second floor is being plastered and the third floor is being mapped out. The walls will come up soon in the third floor as well.

Nepal declared their constitution after many years of arguments and riots in late September also. India did not like it. Immediately India closed their borders to Nepal. India wanted to see the king restored and Hinduism thrive. It was nothing more than control.

The result of the closed borders was no fuel, medicine, or building supplies. Because Nepal is landlocked, and has the Himalayas in the North border with China, it is very dependent on the open border to India. Only two months ago the border was opened and we are able to see some progress of the work. The situation has eased a bit, but still, we are cooking on firewood and many things are hard to get. And of course since the demand is high and the supplies are low, prices are much higher than normal.

Nepal has never been an easy country to work in, but this last year the country has been completely paralyzed. At least we are able to get limited supplies of gas and building materials. (PTL!!!) The lines for gas can be a mile long and sometimes we sit for hours just for a couple of gallons.

All of our churches and native missionaries gathered in Kathmandu in the first week of April.

It was good to have my friend Christoph and the KMM team come and do training.

It was a time of prayer, fellowship, teaching and we even had time to have some fun.

It was a great joy to baptize and to see people added to the Kingdom of God.

God is so good!

There has been lot of changes around in Nepal and in the world. My friend John Ward went to be in heaven in the beginning of January. It was difficult news to hear. I miss him. Please be praying for his family.

In March we lost another friend. One of our local church pastors, Yakub, lost his wife Rebecca. They had morning church service and ate lunch together after church. Then suddenly she suffered a heart attack and passed away. It came as a shock to all of us. Please be praying for Yakub and his family.

Prayer Requests

1. Continue to for the construction of the children home building.

2. Pray that the border between Nepal and India opens widely. Even though India has starting giving in, it still is not opened. Both orphanages cook food with firewood because of India’s actions.

3. Please pray for us personally. We are praying about making a mission base outside of Nepal for this season we are in, but we want to make sure we are in the right location.

Financial pledge

Sabina and the other children need to be admitted for a new school semester in Kathmandu. This means we need to pay for the admission, new school outfits, shoes and books. It is a onetime fee and it will cost $30 per child. We have a total of 115 children. If you can help one or more children, that would be greatly appreciated. The donation can be sent to Globe marked “Khadka Orphanage”. Thank you so much for your help.

Firewood for Mahima Children Home

Samuel and Rebecca continue to go to School in Norway. I travel back and forth to Nepal from Norway at this moment. I was in Nepal in January first week, February third week and also in April. I have been traveling more than usual this month. First Nepal, then Norway and last, in the USA. We appreciate every gift of prayer and finances for us and the people of Nepal.

New dining room is starting to take shape. Next step is windows, paint and electricity.
