A Muslim Picnic
If we had a picnic with foods from the Quraan, what would we eat?

And there entered with him two young men in
the prison. One of them said: "Verily, I saw myself (in a dream) pressing wine." The other said: "Verily, I
saw myself (in a dream) carrying bread on my head and birds were eating thereof."
(They said): "Inform us of the interpretation of this. Verily, we think you are one of the Muhsinûn (doers of
good)." 12:36
Bread is a staple food that has been
eaten since prehistoric times.Bread is made
from grains such as wheat, oat, barley,
rye and corn.Simple breads are made from grains and milk or water. Some breads rise due to the addition of ingredients such as baking power, baking soda, or
yeast.

A fig is a fleshy sweet pear-
shaped yellowish or purple fruit eaten fresh or preserved or
dried.

With it He causes to grow for you the crops,
the olives, the date palms, the grapes, and
every kind of fruit….

Grapes are juicy purple- or green-skinned fruit that
grow in clusters on vines.
Grapes are used to make juices and
jams.
Dried grapes are called raisins.

The description of Paradise which the
Muttaqûn have been promised (is that) in it are rivers of water the
taste and smell of which are not changed, rivers of milk of which
the taste never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who
drink, and rivers of clarified honey….

Honey is a sweet, thick substance made by honey
bees to feed their larvae.
Bees take in nectar (a sweet liquid)
from flowers and make the honey
inside their bodies.
Then bees store the honey in
combs.

And it is He Who produces gardens
trellised and untrellised, and date palms, and
crops of different shape and taste (their fruits and their seeds) and
olives…..

An olive is a small oval shaped fruit.Unripe and ripe olives are both eaten. Unripe
olives are green; ripe olives are dark
bluish and turn black after they are pickled (preserved
in a liquid).

And (remember) when you said, "O Mûsâ
(Moses)! We cannot endure one kind of
food. So invoke your Lord for us to bring
forth for us of what the earth grows, its herbs, its cucumbers, its Fûm
(wheat or garlic), its lentils and its onions."

A lentil is a herb grown for its edible flattened seeds that
are cooked like peas and also
ground into meal. Lentils are cooked in soups and stews.

And (remember) when you said, "O Mûsâ (Moses)! We cannot endure one kind of food. So invoke your Lord for us to bring forth for us of what the earth grows, its herbs, its cucumbers, its Fûm (wheat or garlic), its lentils and its onions." 2:61
An onion is a bulb shaped vegetable.
Onions are grown just about
everywhere in the world.
Onions may be eaten raw or
cooked.

And verily, in the cattle, there is a lesson for you. We give you to
drink of that which is in their bellies, from
between excretions and blood, pure milk; palatable to the
drinkers.

Milk is a very nutritious food.
People drink milk in its natural form or
make many products from milk
such as butter, yogurt, and ice
cream.
All mammals make milk.
Humans typically drink milk from cows, sheep, or
goats.

olives, and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and different
(in taste).

The fruit of the pomegranate tree is about the size of
an orange.
The outside of the pomegranate is
not edible, but the inside is filled with seeds. The outside
of the seeds is a sweet edible pulp.

And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then cause the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We give it to you to drink, and it is
not you who are the owners of its stores

Water is a liquid that is a necessity
for almost all animals.
Water covers more than three-fourths
of the surface of the earth.
Water can be found in things like lakes,
seas, oceans, rivers, streams, springs, ponds,
rain, snow, hail, and frost.
