Veterans Helping Veterans Alliance Veterans Ministry promotes an environment where veterans are welcome to talk, share and listen to others who have walked in their boots. All veterans of each branch of the military, regardless of gender, are welcome. Our motto is “Veterans Helping Veterans”, as captured in our purpose statement below: Our purpose is to love God, and to love others, as we focus on Jesus as the Author of our faith. We reach out to veterans in order to teach what is right, and to demonstrate God's love in a practical way. We are interested in helping, not only veterans, but their families as well. This help is demonstrated in various ways, such as: Being a friend and confidant – Sometimes a vet just needs to vent with another vet; Using skills within our veteran base to assist veterans and their families; Visiting “shut-in” and/or disabled veterans; Connecting veterans in need with available and applicable resources; and Providing spiritual guidance. Throughout the years, Alliance Veterans has been involved in several community outreach projects such as: Hosting sewing guilds from Atlanta and Pittsburgh areas to make “dump bags” for disabled veterans, and Christmas stockings for deployed soldiers; Participation in “Freedom Run” at Mahaffey, with the Presentation of Colors and recognition of both veterans and servicemen currently serving in the military; Paying tribute to the resident veterans at Redstone Highlands and William Penn Care Center; Visiting and providing lunch to the disabled veterans at the Southwest Veterans Center; Collection of items and packaging of Christmas boxes filled with goodies and sundry personal hygiene items, for distribution to local soldiers deployed overseas; Hosting an annual SOS breakfast for all veterans, spouses, and widows/widowers of veterans; Hosting a VA sponsored Healthfair offering various screenings, flu shots, haircuts and applications for VA benefits; Allian ce Vetera ns Minist ry

Veterans Helping VeteransAlliance Veterans Ministry promotes an environment where veterans are welcome to talk, share and listen to others who have walked in their boots. All veterans of each branch ofthe military, regardless of gender, are welcome. Our motto is “Veterans Helping Veterans”,as captured in our purpose statement below:

Our purpose is to love God, and to love others, as we focus on Jesus as the Author of our faith. We reach out to veterans in order to teach what is right,

and to demonstrate God's love in a practical way.

Throughout the years, Alliance Veterans has been involved in several community outreach projects such as: Hosting sewing guilds from Atlanta and Pittsburgh areas to make “dump bags” for

disabled veterans, and Christmas stockings for deployed soldiers; Participation in “Freedom Run” at Mahaffey, with the Presentation of Colors and

recognition of both veterans and servicemen currently serving in the military; Paying tribute to the resident veterans at Redstone Highlands and William Penn Care

Center; Visiting and providing lunch to the disabled veterans at the Southwest Veterans Center; Collection of items and packaging of Christmas boxes filled with goodies and sundry

personal hygiene items, for distribution to local soldiers deployed overseas; Hosting an annual SOS breakfast for all veterans, spouses, and widows/widowers of

veterans; Hosting a VA sponsored Healthfair offering various screenings, flu shots, haircuts and

applications for VA benefits; Visiting and providing breakfast to the residents at Fisher House, a temporary housing

facility for military and veterans’ families, while a loved one receives treatment in the VA Hospital;

Visiting the residents at Mechling Shakley, a treatment facility for homeless veterans needing rehab and support.

Alliance Veterans meet every third Monday evening of each month at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall at Murrysville Alliance Church. Meetings last approximately 1 ½ hours, and all discussions are shared and held in confidence. It is a time of: Sharing ideas for ministry; Voicing concerns and/or emotional issues that one may be experiencing, with the intent

of helping that veteran deal with the problem in a Biblical way; Bonding and fellowship with veterans of all ages; Concluding with a Biblically centered devotional.
