Goal & ObjectivesOverall goal is “To help the Government of Andhra Pradesh to effectively plan,implement and monitor the primary sector mission to transform the agriculture,to enable the state to reach the top three performance states in the country by2022”.

The specific objectives of the collaboration are as follows.1. Establish pilot sites of learning in 13 districts of 10,000 ha each to

operationalize the convergence of primary sector for increasing productivity,profitability and sustainability through science-led development and climatesmart agriculture.

2. Establish international quality assurance standards for selected soil analysislabs for 13 districts.

3. Effective convergence as well as adopting IMOD strategy to benefit small farmholders through PPP.

4. Identifying and establishing a network of certified skills training centersacross the state on PPP mode.

5. To assist in developing weekly monitoring and evaluation system for effectiveconvergence and implementation of the mission in the state

Issues in agriculture and allied sectors in Andhra Pradesh• The agriculture sector in the newly formed Andhra Pradesh State,

popularly known as the “rice bowl of India” is in crisis• Productivity of major crops is stagnant in recent years whereas cost of

cultivation has increased over the last decade. • Increased labour cost, out-migration to nearby urban areas and

inflationary pressures have added to the miseries of farmers’ livelihoods. • The distress sale of commodities, absence of adequate storage and value

addition processing facilities and non-remunerative prices added to miseries of farmers over the years

As part of the Vision 2029, to bring the farmers in to main stream, the focus is on: (a) increasing productivity of the primary sector; (b) mitigating the impact of droughts through water conservation and micro-

irrigation; (c) postharvest management to reduce the wastage; and (d) establishment of processing, value addition capacity and supply chain of

the identified crops
