PROCLAIMING THE WORD ANTHEM Come and Feast Wilbur Chenoweth

“. . . present help in time of need, who the fainting soul doth nourish, make us strong in faith and deed.

Though the mountains shake and crumble in the mighty crashing of the sea, keep us steadfast, keep us humble, undergirded, Lord, by thee. Through the ages moves a river, faithful souls who do thy will,

ever giving to the giver, these they purpose shall fulfill. ‘Tis that pathway we are seeking, which thy loyal saints have always trod.

Through earth’s turmoil Thou art speaking: “Peace! Be Still! And know thy God.”

Yea, thy purpose moving in us breaks the bow and stills the fray, from all hate and fear shall win us, proving love the only way. At thy whisper wars are ceasing to the borders of the earth. Understanding is increasing bringing a new world to birth.

They that labor in thy spirit shall their strength and power renew, shall the peace of God inherit, one with thee their whole life through.

Like the eagle bravely soaring, they shall rise up strong whatever befall; they shall triumph, thee adoring, God, the Source of all in all. Amen.”

Chancel Choir CHILDREN’S WORSHIP As the children first through third grades gather and recess to the Chapel for Children’s Worship, the congregation is invited to join in singing:

What does the Lord require of you? What does the Lord require of you? To seek justice, and love kindness, and walk humbly with your God.

Congregation: The peace of Christ be with you. Children: And also with you.

What does the Lord require of you? What does the Lord require of you? To seek justice, and love kindness, and walk humbly with your God.

The children will return to join their families at the Doxology.

* DOXOLOGY Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

CELEBRATION OF THE LORD’S SUPPER * THE AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (unison) The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all

that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated on the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

THE INVITATION THE PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING AND THE LORD’S PRAYER One: The Lord be with you. Many: And also with you. One: Lift up your hearts. Many: We lift them to the Lord. One: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. Many: It is right to give our thanks and praise . . . “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will

be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.” Amen.
