INTRODUCTION

The Chamber is a not-for-pro�t organisation which aims to promote responsible bilateral trade and investment between Australia and Myanmar and promote closer economic ties between the two countries.

The outcomes that the Chamber aims to achieve are threefold: 1. Support Australian businesses seeking to enter or explore opportunities in Myanmar; 2. Promote responsible investment in Myanmar by sharing Australian best practice; and 3. Assist in capacity building in the private and public sectors in Myanmar.

The 12 Month Plan focuses on the Chamber’s transition to the second phase of its development which includes: • Appointment of a Chief Executive O�cer; • Expansion of the Board of Directors; and • Increased volume of strategic events and brie�ngs in both Australia and Myanmar.

Speci�cally, the 12 Month Plan includes a commitment to deliver the following: • A delegation from Australia; • A delegation from Myanmar; • Capacity building Seminars; • Opportunities to promote Australia’s Responsible Investment practices; • Opportunities to engage in and in�uence public policy in Myanmar; • A Skills Swap Program to promote knowledge sharing between the countries; and • Increased engagement with the Myanmar business community.

The Chamber is committed to working closely with members to ensure the plan re�ects member’s priorities and aspirations. Together this document will act to guide us to deliver outcomes for the bene�t of both Australia and Myanmar.

• Formats include: Panel discussions, Brie�ngs, Seminars and collaborative events with other Chambers and organisations.

• Members can submit requests for speci�c topics, themes or issues to be addressed in these forums.

• One Member event in Singapore in partnership with a Regional Australian Chamber. Last Quarter, 2015

• One Member event in Bangkok in partnership with a Regional Australian Chamber. 1st Quarter, 2016

• Host an event with the President in collaboration with other Chambers in Myanmar. 2nd Quarter, 2016

• Biennial Roundtable exclusive to Members, to brief them on progress of Biennial 12 month plan and seek feedback.

• Host Training Seminars, including on Good Governance, Responsible Ongoing Investment strategies and Best Practice Labor Law Compliance. [Members can recommend themes, present at Seminars and/or sponsor the event].

• A dedicated Chamber o�ce has been opened in Yangon at the Hledan Centre. Ongoing This space can be used by Members to host events and meetings.
