GIANT’S CAUSAWAYNorthern Ireland
You have to see
this geological phenomenon
to believe:
spectacular rock formations,
basalts columns disappearing into the see...
The enormous hexagonal columns,
some 12 metres high,
Form a natural stairway
from the cliffs down into the sea.
They are the result of a volcanic eruption.
Perfect place also for bird-watchers
and botanists...
This National Park is a great place for walking, climbing and skiing.
There is a famous legend about it: a cave full of sleeping soldiers.
King Arthur, their leader, is asleep on a throne nearby. He has got his sword,
Excalibur,in his hand. A group of kinghts is asleep at a round
table. The cave is full of gold coins. King Arthur and his army have been
asleep for a thousand years . They still are waiting for someone to find
the cave and wake them up !
