Having a computer on its own is useful, such as a smartphone or tablet, digitally controlled central heating or washing machine. Having a computer being able to communicate with other computers is even more useful.

Starter: Aim for 5 examples (and benefits) of computers communicating with each other.

TASK: Read, take notes and complete the activities from the Boardwork presentation on networks.

TASK: Attempt the Network Manager simulation exercises to create an effective working network.

Extension: Prepare to present the class on 2 different network topologies, giving the relative strengths and weaknesses of each.
