A Journey of FaithRostad Tours invites you to walk in the footsteps of history as you travel through the Holy Land, an unforgettable journey that every Christian should experience at least once in their lifetime. Not just an incredible educational experience, this is an opportunity for you to deepen your knowledge of the Bible and revitalize your spirit. Come join us on roads well-travelled to trace the footsteps of the prophets, Jesus, crusaders and pilgrims as we explore the rich theological and archaeological history of the Holy Land.

SATURDAY, MARCH 16

Day 1 · Depart to Israel

Today we meet at the airport to begin a life-changing journey. Our experiences will educate and enrich our lives as we watch the stories in the Bible come to life.

SUNDAY, MARCH 17 | D

Day 2 · Caesarea - To Nazareth

An overnight flight brings us to Ben Gurion Airport where we meet our guide and driver. They take us north for a tour of Caesarea, the former Roman capital founded by King Herod to honour Caesar Augustus. This is where Peter baptized the first Gentile convert and where Paul was imprisoned awaiting his trial in Rome. Excavated ruins of this sea-side town include an amphitheatre, a hippodrome and an aqueduct. We shall then travel north to Akko and then to our hotel in Nazareth, the childhood home of Jesus.

MONDAY, MARCH 18 | BLD

Day 3 · Sepphoris - Nazareth

Our day starts with a visit to the impressive ruins at Sepphoris, formerly a city of great wealth and beauty, and believed to be the birthplace of Mary. Next we visit Nazareth Village, a recreation of what a Galilean farm and village would have been like 2000 years ago. Our visit here will include a "Biblical" meal served for lunch. This afternoon we tour Nazareth, Jesus' childhood home, to see the Church of the Annunciation and the beautiful mosaics of the "Madonna and Child", created by artists from around the world. Across the road, we shall visit the Convent of the Sisters of Nazareth and see the Tomb of the Righteous. We then return to our hotel with time

to reflect on what we have seen today.

TUESDAY, MARCH 19 | BLD

Day 4 · Galilee - Caesarea Philippi - Capernaum

This morning we travel north to Upper Galilee and visit Banias, also known as Caesarea Philippi, where we visit Pan's Temple and where Peter proclaimed to Jesus: "You are the Christ. The son of the living God." In the afternoon we visit Capernaum, believed to be Jesus' home base for his three year ministry. Next is Tabgha, where we recall the miracle of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes. Then we visit the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus is believed to have given His Sermon on the Mount. Our day concludes with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. On board we have time for a short service as we contemplate stories from the Bible that relate to this area. After a fascinating day in Galilee we return to our hotel.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20 | BLD

Day 5 · Nablus - Jericho

Our first stop today is Nablus where we visit Jacob's Well, Mount Gerizim and conitinue on to Jericho and Jesus' Baptismal Site. We then tour the ancient site of Jericho and have time to buy some of the regional citrus fruit or souvenirs. Overnight in Jericho - the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world.

THURSDAY, MARCH 21 | BLD

Day 6 · Qumran - Masada - Dead Sea

This morning we depart Jericho for the Dead Sea region – the lowest spot on earth at more than 300 metres below sea level. First we stop to see the ruins at Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls - the oldest biblical documents ever found - were discovered hidden in the caves in clay jars. Driving

Page 3: A Journey of Faith - Amazon S3s3.amazonaws.com/gttwl/attachments/A_Journey_of_Faith...of Mary. Next we visit Nazareth Village, a recreation of what a Galilean farm and village would

through the desolate Judean wilderness, we arrive at Engedi, an oasis, and then onto Masada, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (WHS) and take a cable-car to the top of the mountain to see the remarkable fortress built by Herod the Great. Then we have a chance to cure our ails in the restorative mud and water of the Dead Sea. The sensation of floating in the salt water here is a unique experience not to be missed (remember to bring your water shoes). After an exciting day we return to our hotel in Jericho.

FRIDAY, MARCH 22 | BLD

Day 7 · Mount of Temptation - Bethlehem

This morning we ride a cable car to the Mount of Temptation outside Jericho to admire the view of the Jordan Valley. Those interested can climb the steps to visit the cliff-side Monastery. Then we ascend through the Judean Wilderness and arrive in Bethlehem to visit one of Christianity’s most sacred sites - the Church of the Nativity - and the nearby Shepherd's Fields. Overnight in Bethlehem.

SATURDAY, MARCH 23 | BLD

Day 8 · Jerusalem - Mount of Olives - New City

Our day in Jerusalem starts with a visit to the Mount of Olives, associated with several important events in the life of Jesus, and where we enjoy an incredible view of the city. We walk down the hill, stopping at Dominus Flevit Church ("The Lord Wept") then pass through the Garden of Gethsemane to the Church of All Nations. Then we visit the Israel Museum which includes the Shrine of the Book, Chronicles of the Land, and an impressive model of ancient Jerusalem, which gives us insight into what the city

was like in the first century. If time permits we stop at Yad Vashem, a museum dedicated to the memory of Holocaust victims.

SUNDAY, MARCH 24 | BLD

Day 9 · Old City of Jerusalem

Our tour of the Old City of Jerusalem (WHS) starts at the Western Wall, part of the original retaining wall of the Second Temple, built by Herod the Great in 20BC, and is the most holy of all Jewish sites. On the Temple Mount we see the beautiful golden domed architectural treasure - the Dome of the Rock. We stop at St. Anne's Church, (listen to the beautiful acoustics), and see the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the lame man. Then we travel the "Way of the Cross" on the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. After lunch at the Wujoud Museum and Cultural Center then we will have some free time for shopping. A walk through the Jewish Quarter brings us to the Cardo, a reconstructed Roman main street, and finally to the Zion Gate where our bus is waiting. Our final stop today is just outside the Old City walls at the peaceful Garden Tomb. Return to hotel in Jerusalem.

MONDAY, MARCH 25 | BLD
