This Practice also undertakes the training ofpersons who provide dental services or whointend to do so.

We always use high quality, local dentallaboratories and are keen to employ the latestdental technology enabling us to take advantageof the best modern dental materials.

NHS ServicesWe provide NHS services for the Devon NHSCommissioning board.

NHS dental treatment includes all treatmentnecessary to secure and maintain your oralhealth.

Information about the cost of NHS treatmentis displayed in our waiting room.

Private ServicesWe also provide a full range of privatetreatment options for patients who choose tohave treatment that is not available under theNHS, including dental implants, full mouthmakeovers, veneers, tooth whitening andDirect Access to Hygiene services.

Mr Tomes has a specific interest in DentalImplantology and complex cosmetictreatments.

Your Dentist will advise you of the cost of anyprivate treatment and a Price Guide is availablein our waiting room and on our website.

Hygiene ServicesOur Hygienists and Oral Health Educatorswork closely with your Dentist according toyour individual treatment needs, offeringexpertise in cleaning and knowledgeable adviceto maximise your oral health.

Dental Therapy ServicesOur Dental Therapists support the Dentiststhrough performing a range of procedures,prescribed by the Dentist, that are within theirscope of practice.

Specialist ServicesShould you require additional services notavailable here, such as Orthodontics, we willmake the necessary referral to an appropriatespecialist.

Dental Care ProductsTo help maintain your oral health, we stock agood range of quality products, such as toothbrushes, interdental brushes, dental floss,carefully selected by us for their effectivenessand competitively priced.

Recalls (Check-ups)At the end of your course of treatment, yourDentist will discuss with you when you needto see a Dentist or Hygienist again.We follow guidelines issued by the NationalInstitute for Health and Clinical Excellence(NICE) when deciding an individual’s recallrequirements.If you would like to see the Hygienist betweenyour dental recall appointments, this can bearranged.

Making an AppointmentIf you request an appointment, we will try tooffer you one as soon as possible at aconvenient time.

Urgent treatment and‘out of hours’ care

If you require urgent treatment, contact thePractice and we will give you an appointmentat the earliest possible opportunity.

CancellationsIf you are unable to keep your appointmentplease let us know as soon as possible so thatwe can give the appointment to someone else.You may lose your place at this Practice orincur a fee if you fail to keep an appointmentor cancel without 24 hours notice.

RemindersWe provide a text reminder service free ofcharge, if you provide us with your mobilephone number. (This facility can be applied toyour land line).

FacilitiesThe Practice offers modern, comfortablefacilities in a relaxed and friendly environment.Our reception area and three of our surgeriesare accessible to wheelchairs.If you have any difficulties attending the Practiceor any special requirements, please inform us,we will do our best to help.If you require a domiciliary visit, we can put youin touch with the Community Dental Serviceon 01626 325920.We have access to a translation service ifrequired.

Paying for your dental careWe request that payment is made in full by theend of a course of treatment.We accept cash, cheques and all major creditand debit cards. For some types of treatment,payment by instalments with interest freecredit can be arranged. Prior arrangement isrequired for this. Please ask for furtherinformation.

Your rights and responsibilitiesYou are entitled to• a thorough examination of your mouth,

teeth and gums• a full explanation of all treatment options

available to you• an individual treatment plan, including costs,

printed out for you to keep• clearly outlined dental charges• knowledgeable advice on how to keep your

teeth and gums healthy• openness regarding information about this

Practice and the services available• express a preference of practitioner, we will

endeavour to comply with your request if atall possible

• a care and treatment summary if you decideto transfer to another Dentist

• a thorough investigation should you raiseany concerns about your treatment or care

You are responsible for• giving us at least 24 hours notice if you have

to cancel or change your appointment. Incertain circumstances a re-booking fee maybe levied.

• following our advice in preventive measuresto avoid tooth decay and gum disease

• paying your bill promptly• bringing proof of entitlement when claiming

help with the cost of NHS treatment. (If noproof is shown, your eligibility will bechecked. Patients found to have incorrectlymade a claim may receive a penalty charge).

• treating our staff with courtesy and respect.We may refuse to treat patients who areabusive, fail to pay their bills or refuse tocooperate during treatment.

Your Dental RecordsThese will remain confidential and secure.However from time to time we may needto release NHS records to the NHSCommissioning Board, the NHS BusinessServices Authority or the CQC (Care QualityCommission), as part of our ongoing clinicalreview process.

About our serviceWe welcome feedback of any kind and wouldencourage you to complete a Friends andFamily form when you visit or write in ourcomments book, both available at reception.Alternatively speak to any member of staff.Comments about any aspect of our service willbe carefully considered.We want you to be entirely satisfied with thecare you receive. If you wish to make acomplaint please discuss it with any member ofstaff or put it in writing, addressed to thePractice, for the attention of the PracticeManager.If you prefer, you can arrange to meet thePractice Manager to express your concerns.
