• The Centre and the Asian Development Bank, ADB signed a 60 Million dollar Loan Agreement in New Delhi to continue financing riverbank protection works,and community-based flood risk management activities in critically flood-prone areas along the Brahmaputra River in Assam.

• The Tranche 2 loan is part of the 120 million dollar multi-tranche financing facility for the Assam Integrated Flood and Riverbank Erosion Risk Management Investment Program approved by the ADB Board in October 2010.

• The loan will have a 20-year term, including a grace period of five years, an annual interest rate determined in accordance with ADB's lending facility based on the London Interbank Offered Rate, and a commitment charge of 0.15 per cent per year.

• Smoking in outdoor restaurants and entrances to booths for smokers will also be banned.

• In Sweden, smoking is currently allowed in designated smoking areas in most workplaces and public places.

• According to the new law, the goal is to make the Scandinavian country smoke-free by 2025.

• The International Monetary Fund said that global debt has reached an all-time high of 184 trillion US dollars with the United States, China and Japan accounting for more than half of it.

• According to the IMF report, the amount in nominal terms, is the equivalent of 225 per cent of the world GDP in 2017.

• On average, the world's debt now exceeds 86,000 dollars per person, which is more than two and half times the average income per-capital.

• IMF said it is striking that the most indebted economies in the world are also the richer ones.

• Since the beginning of the millennium, China's share in global debt has gone up from less than three per cent to over 15 per cent.

RBI grants 40 branch licenses to Bandhan Bankआििीआई ने िांधन िैंक को 40 र्ािा के तलए लाइसेंस प्रदान तकये

• Reserve Bank of India has allowed BandhanBank to open as many as 40 more branches, first time after it put a restriction on the bank's branch opening spree three months back.

• RBI has come down heavily on Bandhan Bank in the last week of September for its failure to bring down promoters' stake to 40% as per the licensing agreement.

• The regulator barred the bank from opening branches without prior approval and froze Ghosh's remuneration at the existing level.

• Bandhan Financial Services the promoter of Bandhan Bank, currently holds 82.28 % stake in the bank. Another option before it is to acquire a non-bank lender which would in turn bring down the promoters' stake.
