A few words from our Board Chairman:

Early in the calendar year 2020, COVID sidetracked many of our plans, community convenings is the main obstacle. Social distancing quicklybecame a phrase used worldwide. And yet, we are finding other waysto build our community and its people, primarily through the nonprofitsector and educational scholarships and collaborations with othernonprofits and community leaders.

Community Leadership is an important tenet of our work and it hasprobably been the most challenging aspect of social distancing, but wewill keep trying. We are dedicated to this community and we are herefor YOU.

Enclosed in this fiscal year 2019-2020 version of our annual report, you will see some results of the Community Foundation's work. Thesenumbers represent changes in people's lives.

Much of our work is cumulative as each year builds upon another. Inmany ways, the results of our work won't be seen in the lifetimes of the current board and staff. We are proud of our work and our community.

Call on us with your philanthropic goals. We want to see your dreams become reality!

Why Give to the CFCC?

Money donated to the CFCC is considered an investment in the community. Most of the distributions from our funds directly benefit the residents ofCrawford County and gifts made to an endowment are invested. Only theearnings are spent so this provides an income stream for Crawford CountyFOREVER! Large gifts are certainly welcome, but so are small gifts. Every gift mattersbecause every gift helps someone!

How to Start a New Fund

1.CConsider what you want to see happen through the establishment of a new fund.

2. Consider if you want to set the fund up now and donate the money now or later as part of your Estate Plan (through a will, trust, as a beneficiary to an IRA or life insurance policy).

3. Consider the various ways you might have at your disposal to make that happen. + Agriculture Products and Animals + Cash, Check or Charge + Publicly-traded securities` + Closely held stock + Real estate + Partnership interests + Private foundation payouts or conversions + Sale of a collection or other marketable personal property

4. After some conversation and planning, the staff will draft your fund’s language to ensure it will meet your personal preferences.

You can choose one fund or multiple types of funds, depending on your giving strategy and goals.

Contact Christine Harbeson today for more information about setting up a fund to honor a loved one, to support a special cause, or

one that carries YOUR family name. (812) 365-2900 | [email protected]

Using ourcompetitive grant cycle, the Board of Directors decides where grantsare awarded. The name of the fund will be announced every time agrant is awarded from it. Contact us to learn more.

  DONOR ADVISED FUND (PERSONAL FOUNDATION)

CFCC’s donor advised funds provide philanthropists with all  of the services available with a private foundation, but withsignificant cost benefits.

CORPORATE ADVISED FUND

A corporate advised fund allows your company to simplify its giving as it makes grantsto charitable organizations. Meanwhile, the CFCC handles the due diligence, issues the

checks, and provides staff assistance.

COMMUNITY ENDOWMENT FUND

An endowment fund supports your community in perpetuity while serving as your personal legacy. The CFCC’s staff provides the research and direct support to the

most critical community needs.

FIELD OF INTEREST FUND

A field of interest fund creates a resource in perpetuity to support the causes youcare about, such as the arts, education, health and human services, or the

environment. Our staff directs support to the best charitable organizations withinyour assigned interest area.

DONOR DESIGNATED FUND TO ANY 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT

A donor designated fund allows you to create permanent income for anorganization(s) of your choice anywhere, and ensures your support can grow and live

on after your lifetime.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The CFCC works with new donors to create renewable scholarships that award 1,000 per year or more, ensuring that support is available through degree attainment. We administer everything, from creating and distributing applications to the disbursement of funds and due diligence with the college or university.

CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION (Agency) ENDOWMENT FUND

With a charitable organization endowment fund, not-for-profit organizations canestablish a permanent endowment fund to support the charity in perpetuity.

T Y P E S O F E N D O W M E N T F U N D S

Page 17: A few words from our Board Chairman

We are but one organization that exists to serve our community and we are a team. We believe that working together is the best way to get the mostaccomplished. We pool the resources available and keep moving forward. Most often, we are not moving alone.

Here at the CFCC, in 19-20, we formed new collaborations and workedtogether in meetings with other community leaders to perform surveys, assessments, and formed plans. Some of this work has already providedfruit: more scholarship and more grants for community members. "We AreOutdoor Recreation" county marketing and unifying efforts, a broadbandstudy which is helping to bring fiberoptic cable to Crawford County, a qualityof place plan and so much more. We don't need to control or lead everyissue affecting Crawford County, but we want to be a part of the solution andare active on many committees and initiatives.

As COVID broke, we formed the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund that awarded $44,196.30 in emergency relief grants. See CF-CC.org/covid-19.ntml for more about this and the funders who helped make this possible. We never do anything alone. We work alongside with others to provide for the needs of our community. We work with you.

Please watch for a lot more in 2021 regarding Come to Crawford, a community wide website and calendar. This is one of these things that will help the residents of Crawford County connect and to know what is availablehere and where. In addition, the site will be marketed outside our region tobring more people to us. Once they see how beautiful it is here, morefamilies will want to raise their children here, retire here, live, work and playhere. Enrollment is free, so when you see an enrollment form for yourbusiness or nonprofit, please fill it out.

We aren't just here for you, we are here with you!
