CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION We confess to you Lord, what we are; we are not the people we like others to think we are;
we are afraid to admit even to ourselves what lies in the depths of our souls. But we believe that you know us for who we are, yet in Jesus Christ you still love us. Give us courage to put our trust in your guiding power. Raise us out of the paralysis of guilt into the freedom and energy of your forgiven people and, for those of us who through long habit find for-giveness hard to accept, we ask you to break the bondage and set us free. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Contemporary Prayers for Worship (Adapted) Caryl Micklem 1967.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH from A Brief Statement of Faith
In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of
Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding
up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this
Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.

Our Sympathies
• The National International Mission Committee has
learned from our partners at Mtenthera CCAP church
in Malawi that Rev. Hartley Zulu has been asked to
step down as pastor of the church this month. He had
come to the Mtenthera congregation in October,
2015. Unfortunately he did not fit in well in this posi-
tion. A visiting minister will administer sacraments and
handle pastoral matters until a new minister is called
to serve at Mtenthera. Please keep the church and
Rev. Zulu and his family in your prayers as they move
forward.
• There is renewed violence in the country of South
Sudan. PC(USA) has a partnership in South Sudan and several mission co-workers there. We are hoping
three representatives from that church can come to
the Malawi Mission Network conference as guests of
Pittsburgh Presbytery. The airport is closed and all is
very uncertain and dangerous. Please pray for their
safety and the end of the hostilities.
Church Wide Concerns
To Reverends Doug and Emily Campbell and family on
the death of Doug’s father, David Campbell, who died
June 29, 2016.
To Lisa Spielman, granddaughter of Millie Ferrari on the
death of Lisa’s mother-in-law, Lynn Spielman/
Jack & Kiki Farrow are happy to report that their son, Bucky Farrow is “still slowly getting better” from nerve damage in his midsection and lower extremities. He is able to work and drive. They are most grateful for the prayers of their FPCP church family.

For all children over nursery age—kids start in worship
The Lord’s Prayer: Luke 11: 1-13
Summer Club is going strong! We still need one person on August 7th and 14th and two people on August 21st to hold class on those days. Please contact Victoria ([email protected]) or see the sign-up sheet on the Path (Sunday School) bulletin board. Our regular leaders are taking a much deserved rest over the summer. Thanks to all the people who have helped out so far. Children who have completed 5th grade are welcome to join Youth Path on Sundays to help them become more comfortable with the Youth programs. They meet in the Confirmation/Middle School room on the second floor.
This summer Local Missions and the children in VBS are sponsoring a “Back to School Back Pack and School Supply Drive” for area children living in foster Care, July 17-31. *Were you aware that 2,000 children in Wayne County alone live in foster care?

Elder Biographies:
Kathy Bernard - I have been nominated to serve a second, non-consecutive term as an elder of the
National/International Mission Committee. I have been married to Jim for 28 years and we have two children,
Matthew (23) and Jessica (21). We have been members of FPCP since 1995 and feel deep gratitude for having
raised our family in this church. There have been many opportunities to serve and to grow in faith over the
years. I have been involved with Christian Education—teaching Sunday school since 1997 primarily as a
confirmation co-teacher for the past 12 years, served in the LOGOS/Bridge ministry for 17 years, been active
in the Crossroads college-age ministry since 2013 and have served on the National/International Mission
Committee since its inception in 2006. I have been blessed to have nurtured my personal faith through
multiple weekly Bible studies, participation in local mission activities in Detroit as well as participation in 5
youth mission trips plus 3 trips with our church family to Colina de Luz Christian Home for Children in Mexico
and 5 trips to Malawi to our partner church, Mtenthera CCAP. I am excited to return to involvement on the
Session and look forward to being a part of what the Lord has in store for FPCP over the next three years.
Martha Boeve - I am married to Kurt Boeve. We have two sons, Luke, a senior at Hope College, and Mark,
a freshman at University of Michigan. We moved to Northville in 2010 and have been members of FPCP since
2011. I have served briefly on our Worship Committee, volunteered at the Thrift Shop and also at Crossroads
of Michigan. I look forward to the opportunity to serve on the Session
Barbara Bullotta - I have been married to Ronald Bullotta for 31 years. We have a blended family of six
children, and we are blessed with five grandchildren. Three of our children live out of state including
Houston TX, Pittsburgh, PA and Bethesda, MD, and three live in the greater Detroit Metropolitan area. We
love to travel to visit all of our family, look forward to our annual trip to Hilton Head, SC, and we have been
fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to several countries in Europe, as well as throughout the United
States. My husband, a Catholic, and I share our Christian faith in our daily lives with the extra added bonus of
benefitting from two wonderful churches in the Plymouth area, First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth and Our
Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. I retired in 2015 from Macomb County where I was employed as a
Case Manager assisting with job training and placement activities for low income, out of work participants. I
have also been employed as a teacher in various areas of employment rehabilitation working in four states. I
hold a BA from Saginaw Valley State University and an MAT with Oakland University. I am a lifelong Presbyter-
ian; and have been honored to serve as Deacon at two other churches. I became a member of FPCP in the fall
of 2000. I have volunteered for VBS for five years, I assisted with the presentation of a Job Search Seminar
provided by FPCP, and have also participated in Bible studies and book discussions. I am now looking forward
to serving our church in a larger capacity as an Elder.
Johanna Kissel - I am honored to have been asked to serve on Session to represent the Local Mission
Committee. My husband, Gery, and I have been members of FPCP since 1997. We have two teenage
daughters, Halley and Corinne, who are involved with the Youth programs at Church and keep us busy with
their active schedules. Past activities I have been a part of at FPCP include: Vacation Bible School, Sunday
School Teacher, Grief Support Facilitator, AMP Bible Study, and the Local Mission Committee. I have also had
the honor to serve on the Board of Deacons. In my free time, I enjoy reading the latest bestsellers, traveling,
and meeting a friend or two for coffee and conversation. Thank you for this opportunity to serve!
9
Louis Maceratini - I have been married to Lisa for 33 years and have two adult daughters, Mia and
Megan, who are also married. We have one granddaughter and another on the way! We joined FPCP in 2008.
Lisa and I have been involved in the Salvation Army bell ringers and the Giving Tree during the Christmas sea-
son. We also contribute to our sister church in Malawi, particularly outfitting the girls dormitory. I was a Stew-
ardship Elder in my former church. I am a Wayne State University graduate with a BA in Business. I have an
MBA with a logistics concentration from Florida Institute of Technology’s satellite program. I have been em-
ployed with one company for over 33 years and am approaching retirement. I enjoy cycling, travel, outdoor
activities and spending time with family and friends.
Jeff Stoner - I have been married to Carol for 33 years. We live in Northville and have two children - Brad
and Andrea, who are both married. Brad, Kristen and our grandson, Hudson, live in Chicago. Andrea and
Brandon live in Royal Oak, MI. I work for Ricoh Global Services (31 Years) and served in the United States Air
Force. Carol and I transferred our membership to First Presbyterian Church in March 2011. I served as a
FPCP Elder from 2012 to 2015 and have served as a Deacon and on various committees, including Finance,
Building and Grounds, Stewardship, Local Missions and on the parent committee for Young Life of North-
ville/Novi. My interests outside of church and work include many outdoor activities (all seasons), classic cars
and boats.
A community of churches working together to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Dana Hearn - I have been married to Chester “Chet” Hearn for nearly 21 years. Our family have been
members of First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth since April 2005. We are the proud parents of two
wonderful daughters, Sarah (14 and Candace (10). Both girls attend Plymouth/Canton Community Schools.
Since joining FPCP, I have assisted with Vacation Bible School, teaching Sunday School, decorating the
church for Christmas, writing greeting cards, and the foster children Meet and Greet. I hold a BA in Biology
and MBA. Currently, I am employed with Inventive Health and have participated in the company’s Commu-
nity Service days such as delivering meals for the Meals on Wheels program. My other interests include
working outdoors, gardening, reading, travel and spending time with family.
Jessie Hollingsworth - I have been a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 14 years. My
husband, Richard Felcher, and I have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. I participate in the Women’s
Wednesday morning Bible study and am in the Willing Hands and Prayer Shawl ministries.
Heather Balog Kirkland - I joined FPCP in 2005 after moving to Plymouth, MI from Lafayette, IN with
my husband Dave Kirkland in 2004. We have been married for almost 18 years. Together, we have one
daughter, Sydney, who is 8 ½ years old. I have served at FPCP as a past member of the chancel choir and a
past Elder where I served on the Christian Nurture Committee. I am currently active as a VBS volunteer and
have taught Path (i.e., Sunday School) for the past four years. I work as a speech-language pathologist and
own a private practice in Plymouth, MI. My work with children and families on a daily basis allows me to
care for people in a Christ centered way while maintaining a family balance. In my free time I enjoy
spending time with my family and reading.
Jan Sockolosky - Jim and I married in 1970. We have three children and three grandchildren. After
receiving two degrees in design (art) from U of M, I worked as an artist at the Children’s Museum for the De-
troit Board of Education before our children were born. We became members of this church in 1977. I served
as an Elder 1994-97. My church activities include Bible study for over thirty years and Emily’s A.M.P. group for
ten years. I’ve been active in Presbyterian Women as a member of A.C.T.S. Circle, co-moderator, coordinating
team member, and as founder and leader of Willing Hands Circle. Jim and I were the church gardeners for
twelve years. I’ve designed sanctuary banners, made life-sized angels to hang in the chancel, and produced
the “Memorials and Gifts” book for our church’s 180th Anniversary. Our partnership with Mtenthera has led
me to come regularly for weekly prayer and to accompany guests from Malawi on “field trips.” Each morning
I provide prayer support for Crossroads, our church’s ministry to college age young people. My faith journey
began with infant baptism in a Presbyterian Church. In 1987, I had a life changing experience where I became
deeply aware of my great need for forgiveness and knew that Jesus had died for me, followed by weeks of
intense connection with the Holy Spirit. I am a work in progress with much to learn.
Stacy Wennstrom - I live in Canton with my husband, Jon and stepdaughters, Marina and Mira. Our
family joined FPCP in the spring of 2015. I volunteer at the Thrift Shop and am eager to serve as a Deacon. I
work for a medical journal at the University of Michigan. I enjoy cooking, reading, classic movies and yoga.
In my previous church, I worked in the nursery and organized volunteers for Alpha House, an
interfaith shelter in Ann Arbor.
Kim Pierson - I have been married to Laurie Pierson since 1998 and we have 4 sons. Aidan (16), Owen (15),
Luka (13) and Zander (Alexander, 10). We have been members of the church since 2006, just before Zander

was baptized. Since being a member here, I have been involved with Emily’s grief support group, and the mis-
sion trip to Colina this year. Other than that, I have no previous service related activities with the church. I’m a
high school graduate from Edsel Ford High School, Dearborn, and have been working the construction indus-
try for most of my life. I started as a laborer and worked my way to my current position as a Project
Superintendent. Wayne Krupin was once my boss, some years ago. My hobbies and passions are golf and
fishing with my family. My faith journey is a meandering path from Catholicism, through the Unity Movement,
to finally arriving here at First Presbyterian, fueled by God whom I met through a 12-step group.
