Who we are

Our historyPrior to the establishment of BankservAfrica in 1972, the banking industry in South Africa jointly owned several companies that provided payment services to the banks, through a variety of differing payment channels.

Following their own direction and operating independently, the need to consolidate into a single structure was soon recognised so as to ensure benefits such as economies of scale, shared efficiencies, industry

innovation, regulatory compliance and the establishment of a robust National Payments System (NPS).

On 21 June 1972, BankservAfrica was created to facilitate industry interoperability and over the years we have established excellent legal and governance frameworks, efficient operational and escalation procedures, strong industry relationships and brought continuous innovation to the industry; while meeting the payment transactions needs of the industry.

Our history BSVA Integrated Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of BankservAfrica, created as per the South African Reserve Bank and the Payments Association of South Africa’s requirements to structure the group into two separate legal entities. These are ring fenced to minimise risk, as BankservAfrica forms the hub of the financial transactions industry in South Africa, while maintaining excellent service levels and standards.

One company. Two areas of operationsBSVA Integrated Services is a commercial company comprising two divisions, each under the leadership of its own CEO. The division supplies a complete set of solutions from basic infrastructure and software, right through to systems for core banking and financial service industries and the facilitation of electronic payments.
