incorporate into everyday routines. This workshop is in-

DONNA LEBLANC, author Donna LeBlanc studied music and musical theatre, became a wife, worked in corporate America, served as

a mentor and as a children’s choir director, and created her own business in faux finishing and interior

decorating.

Donna began writing children’s poetry in 2009. While observing her nephew act out the characters he

watched on TV, Donna was inspired to recreate a story she had written years ago about a boy who

played with his toys while sitting in a laundry basket.

As a child, Donna had always dreamed of becoming a teacher. And as a piano instructor for the past

two decades, she has achieved her dream. Donna loves her “piano families” and is ex-

tremely proud of their continuous contributions to the

community. When she is not inspiring her students and

finding new destinations for Commander Josh, Donna is

managing her decorating business, is a mentor at a local

elementary school, and an executive board member on

the town’s business council.

Donna currently resides in New Hartford, Connecticut

with her husband, her brother, and two dog daughters,

Sophie and Rosa.

Donna says, “I try to be compassionate and to inspire

those I meet. Compassion is a powerful gift we can

freely give to each other. And the inspiration that we receive helps to remind us that we never know what our

potential is until we test our abilities.”

T-BONE, AmEricA’s PiEd

Piper

T-Bone is affectionately known to his audiences as “America’s musical Pied

Piper”. He has performed for thousands of people throughout the United

States since 1972. Maybe it’s the child in him that enables T-Bone to connect

so well with his audiences or the fact that he has the energy of a runaway

freight train. Whatever the reason, and before his audiences realize it, they

are clapping, singing and dancing at T-

Bone’s shows. This is “full contact”

entertainment at it’s best and a show

your community won’t soon forget!

Programs for Early Learners: Museum & Me: Playdates with Art (ages 0-

2)—This every other month, hour-long program

teaches parents and caregivers to talk to their

babies about art, recognize and respond to

signs of visual stimulation, and use art as a

resource to promote visual literacy. Led by

Museum educators and docents, the program

will explore a different theme each month

through a story, gallery exploration, and sen-

sory play session. Appealing to the first stage

in a baby’s life, this program hopes to intro-

duce art in an engaging and positive way. Clas-

ses start at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 and

Friday, Feb. 13, 2015.

Early Childhood Learning Program (ages 3-5)

—The Museum offers a six-session museum

curriculum to encourage creativity in pre-

schoolers. Each visit focuses on a different

element of art, through stories, close looking,

movement, music, exploratory art making, and

reflection. Our program will help prepare your

child for Kindergarten by promoting self-

expression, creativity, and encouragement

through art. Groups may come for the entire

curriculum, or visit for one or more individual

sessions.

Art Start (ages 3-5)—Young children and

their caregivers are invited to discover art

together and listen to stories on Saturdays

from 11-11:45 a.m. at the Museum. This pro-

gram develops visual and verbal literacy skills

with active reading, close looking at a single

work of art, and a related art project. Chil-

dren (and caregivers) will be both entertained

and mentally engaged during this period of fun

and learning!

Programs for Children: Art Adventures (ages 6 & up)—Catering to

children ages 6 & up, the Museum hosts one or

three-day sessions during school breaks from

10:30 a.m.- noon. Children explore special

exhibits and kid-friendly topics such as the

art of recyclables through innovative art pro-

jects. Parents and caregivers are welcome to

participate in this intergenerational program

to help enhance your child’s appreciation of

art!

Art Explorers (ages 6-8)—On Saturdays

from 10:30 a.m.-noon, students are welcome to

explore their creativity by using varied meth-

ods and materials to create personal works of

art. Themes and projects vary from week to

week allowing maximum exposure to diverse

artists, artworks, and ways of art making. See

what inspires you and get creative! Artistic

expression provides a strong foundation for

future success by promoting confidence and

imagination in children.

Studio@4 (ages 8-10)—Students delve deep-

ly into various art materials, processes, and

production through month-long sessions held

on Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m. Each session

will be led by different artists-in-residence

who specialize in diverse media, and guide

students through all stages of the creative

process. From conception to completion stu-

dents receive personal guidance and encour-

agement from professional level artists! By

embracing their creativity, students discover

their talents and enhance their ways of learn-

ing.

When should a child first visit the dentist?

Establishing a Dental Home by Age 1

As a mother, I am often asked questions by other mothers

regarding their child’s dental care. I don’t mind. I love talking

about dentistry and dental care. What these questions have made

me realize, however, is that there are a lot of moms with a lot of

questions out there! I intend to use this blog to answer some of

the most commonly asked questions. If you have questions please

post them so that I can answer those too!

Before we start addressing specific dental questions though, I

think we should start at the very beginning: When exactly should

a child first start going to the dentist?

The short answer: Around the child’s first birthday.

The long answer: The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry

and The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American

Dental Association all recommend that parents establish a Dental

Home for their child within six months of the first tooth

erupting and no later than 12 months of age.
